Doubleday Port Isabel Reviews
This place is great. Food is good and it’s a cool spot to come have an affordable drink when you need to get off the island. The nachos were pretty good
Doubleday's is a great place to get some wings and watch the game. Also, if you're a sports fan, really like memorabilia, and your in Port Isabel you need to visit Doubleday's! I was impressed by the artifacts and all the autographs.
I have eaten there twice in the past month, The fish tacos were amazing and the next time I ordered the grilled fish and it was exactly what I wanted. Loved the big fries also, the waitstaff was excellent and I saw how clean, well lit and wonderfully organized the museum memorabilia was. I highly recommend this place for a truly unique dining experience.
Been there a couple times! Both times we saw the owner there. But before he arrived, they were very attentive. Just impressed to see and owner so Involved with their business! But not on an invasive way! Both patrons and employees alike seemed to enjoy his company!
This was our first time in this area, we enjoyed eating in this bar, and we came back 3 times in row in 3 days. Don’t hesitate to come here.
My husband and I have visited this place twice. The restaurant owner and his employees make really good food. Especially the corn tacos. they are really polite.
My wife suggested this place tonight, and I'm glad she did. Great food and even better service. Mike, the manager, is a real solid dude and was very welcoming and attentive. They get their calamari and shrimp fresh off the boat and it's definitely worth the try. The place had a very calm atmosphere and they have games for entertainment. If you're in Port Isabelle you definitely need to check this place out. Big portions at affordable prices, and hospitality that can't be beat.
If you want to step out of reality, for just a little while, and submerge yourself in time capsule full of local and national sports history, then this is your place. I met the owners son, Mike, who beamed with pride regarding the sports memorabilia covering every square inch of wall space inside. The food was fantastic and the portions were large. The atmosphere was warm and inviting. Although I had never been there before today, it felt as if I've been going there for years. "If you build it, they will come." Perfectly fits this wonderful gem in the Rio Grande Valley.
Stopped for lunch on our way home from the island. It was a quiet time and we were able to look at all of the sports memorabilia. Pork tenderloin sandwiches were very good, fries nice and crispy. Service was great, and our waitress was very friendly . Enjoyed our experience as first timers!
We went on a Saturday evening. The food was very good and plentiful. The price was affordable. The service was great and the atmosphere was really great. A huge amount of memorabilia. I have to go again just to look at all the stuff!
Burgers and Onion rings were surprisingly really good. Steak Nachos were bangin. Cool spot to hang out, have some beers and play some pool
Great place, food is great. Been there several times with large groups and they are a bit under staffed. However the staff they have are on top of everything and the waiting time for food is not bad.
We stood by the bar for about 10 minutes and not a single bar tender assisted us, granted we were the only ones. A guy came and was helped right away bar tender even took his bucket of beer to his table. I canceled my food after this. My friends ordered food and it took them over 30 minutes to get their food. Never again!
