Don Jose Tequilas Restaurant Providence Reviews
Don Jose Tequila is a solid spot for Mexican food and margaritas. The menu offers a good variety, from classic tacos to flavorful entrées, and everything is well prepared. I especially love the Mojete Azteca—it’s packed with flavor and always a standout dish. Margaritas are refreshing and well balanced, making it a great place to unwind. The atmosphere is lively and welcoming, and service is generally friendly and attentive. Overall, a great choice for a casual night out with good food and drinks.
First time here, love the atmosphere. The food and drinks were great. Definitely recommend
Had margaritas one evening and then dinner on two other nights. Really good Mexican food, with fantastic service. The actual bar is relatively small but enough different tequila options to keep yourself "occupied". The entire staff is attentive and friendly. The prices are relatively reasonable. You won't be disappointed. We even celebrated a birthday!
In front of a good Mexican restaurant in Providence Island landed here. Right in the heart of Broadway area. Beautifully set up or rather cozy setup as two bar counters. Very friendly host And finally the food was outstanding. I was also very hungry so I enjoyed every bit of it. I'm going to make this my standard stop the next time back in Providence.
The food was really good. I love the kid's menu. The staff was very friendly. I love the chips and salsa. The guacamole tasted fresh and good. If you like spicy the habanero sauce is amazing. Chipotle was good too. My kids love the food and the decor. I love the music however the area where I was seating the speakers was on the opposite side. Overall a great experience.
Another great Mexican restaurant! This one is located in the well-known Federal Hill, where you can find plenty of other excellent restaurants. I was very pleased with everything in the restaurant. The food was great, the drinks were pretty good and the service was on point. Their prices were fine for the area. I will definitely go back.
It's Sunday night, and my husband, father-in-law, and I decided to stop in here for a drink. It was calm, the atmosphere was relaxed, and our bartender was wonderful. I love the decorations near the bars! I highly recommend!
The drinks, chips, salsa, food- excellent. This was my 6th visit I think, and it was great. My grandfather is Spanish, and both my dad and him have gone to SO MANY incredible Mexican food restaurants since we lived in CA.. So when my dad gives a glowing review of a place like this, we know it will be excellent; and Don Jose's is.
This place is absolutely amazing!! Walked in for dinner and super calm and cozy atmosphere. The waitress was very nice and warned my son that the plate was very hot to not touch it!!! And the food was AMAZING!!!! So we’re the drinks. I got mango juice and quesadillas, the mango juice was very good and not too sweet, very refreshing, and the quesadillas were the best quesadillas I’ve ever had!!! The cheese was go gooey and stringy and the chicken was so good and juicy and tender!!! And it came with homemade guacamole on the side which was to die for, and dipped the quesadillas dipped in the guac was like heaven in my mouth!!!! Definitely would come back to this place again!!!!!!!
People love the margaritas here. You can get them blended. Mango has been the best flavor I’ve tried so far. Ranchera has great seasoning and is probably my favorite thing here. The meat was a bit fatty considering that it was like $25 for the plate. It was on the smaller side in my opinion, considering the price. Margarita was ok. It’s just not for me here BUT all my friends etc LOVE it here so it’s just a me problem. Everyone always says this is like their favorite place and I just think it’s okay. The service is slow every time i come but this last time they were packed so that’s our fault for coming when they’re busy but you have to like wave over a waiter for any attention usually. Even if it isn’t busy.
Amazing Mexican restaurant! Great ambiance inside and every server we interacted with were friendly and attentive. As someone who grew up eating authentic Mexican cuisine, the food did not disappoint. Will be back again!
Crystal is THE best. Her drinks were so good and came so quick AND was so kind. The atmosphere was fabulous as well!!!! Really recommend for others to come!
Chips n salsa were great alongside my margarita
Best spot in town.
Great food! Waitress was working alone so we had to wait a bit but it was a beautiful day to sit outside
Great place!
Chicken was cooked amazing Customer service was great Lady were pretty cant be mad
I ordered slow-cooked pork, and my friend ordered Salmon. I rate pork 3 stars and salmon 5 stars. We ordered a margarita which was awesome, smooth and strong enough, I definitely will try that again. guacamole taste is so natural, they made it in front of you. lastly, the fries were extra crispy as I requested.
Went here for dinner yesterday. The place was really good. They have a small outdoor section in the back where you can eat. It was quant. The food was very delicious and so were the drinks. They forgot to bring us chips and salsa, but we got a tamale, and when you order it. It's just one, I thought it would have been like 2 or 3 smaller ones. But just one big one. The quesadilla was delicious and crunch per my child. The Combo azteca was delicious, that's what I got. Great flavor. Rice was a bit dry but was very good. The meats for all the dishes have been succulent. As for the girlfriend, she got the Don Jose platter, which looked phenomenal and was just as delicious as it looked. Staff was very polite and helpful and the atmosphere was enjoyable. Overall, I would go back just to try other dishes and drinks. Great restaurant experience 👌 👍
Stopped in for some appetizers and drinks. Have absolutely no complaints about either. The food appeared authentic, was reasonably priced (even for Federal Hill), and tasted great. The only downside is that they offered outdoor seating to us, which we assumed would be in the front on the street, but they then took us around back to an overcrowded little spot in the back parking lot immediately adjacent to a bathroom. It was not ideal seating. I'd recommend making a reservation or just sitting inside.
Great place for a burrito 🌯 chips and a Margarita. Food is always great and the staff is as well. Definitely a must try or a revisit. You won't be disappointed.

This is a cute little Mexican restaurant in Federal Hill. The ambiance was everything expected and decorated lively. I had two big margaritas and upgraded to top shelf tequila but felt they were lacking a bit and didn't feel fuzzy even though they tasted great. I ordered the Chicken Quesadilla which was great. I saw a couple orders of Portuguese style mussels come out and decided to order those... they were delicious but I paid for it a couple hours later and had food poisoning bad.I do not think this was the restaurant's fault, I may have eaten one mussel that didn't open up during the cooking process and didn't realize it when I was eating them. I would go back and give it another try. The service was great and attentive. On street parking is available. Everything I ate was flavorful and delicious.
Server was slow, kitchen was slow. Food was eh. I wouldn’t visit again, there’s better options around for even cheaper
I got there today when they just opened at 3pm, the food I usually order is the chicken Chimichanga is my favorite. However today I went earlier than the time I usually go! I think that’s why the rice was not fresh? maybe from last night and heated up! The whole meal did not taste fresh. Please open up an hour before and make fresh rice and beans that will last the whole day! It’s very disappointed to not serve fresh food at 3pm.

07 Jan '26. We were a party of four, for a birthday. We arrived at 4:35 pm and were the only folks in the restaurant. Somehow it took an hour to get our entrees. Another party who had arrived after us were eating before we did. The restaurant didn't even throw us a break for the poor performance of the kitchen. There is absolutely something wrong w/ kitchen staff. Food was good but won't be back.
