Venta del Puntal Purullena Reviews
Espectacular.
We ate there today and the food was fabulous, the waitresses were lovely and served very quickly, very professional, we will be back.
We ate here yesterday, and it's highly recommended. Our service was incredibly fast. The dining room is spacious and comfortable. The menu is varied and very affordable (€13). They also include a salad in the middle. Everything we ordered was delicious. A special mention goes to the desserts. We ordered a triple chocolate cake and mango mousse, and both were very, very good. All for just €13, incredible. The waiters were also kind and friendly.
2025 Edition: It's still our favorite place to stop, although this time we ordered half a chorizo sandwich and they only gave us one (and the bread was barely bigger than my fist). The weekend menu has gone up to €22. We're keeping our 5 stars. Homemade and grilled food (visible from the bar). There's plenty of parking (in front of and behind the building). The set menu is generous: * First course to choose from per person (but they serve it to share) plus a salad to share. * Main courses are quite generous and of good quality. * Bread, a drink, and dessert/coffee. The price of the set menu doubles on weekends, but it's still worth it (€10 during the week and €20 on weekends). The bar area, although it has a shabby look and resembles an old tavern, serves very tasty tapas (some grilled) and the sandwiches are large and filling. It's our favorite place to stop. The photos show the salad, a starter (rat stew with egg), a main course (cod with tomato), and two desserts (Pan de Calatrava and egg custard). I've included the menu from the last day I was there.
Stopped here this afternoon in fantastic open rural scenery for a much needed cold drink with mi esposo. Had great Cruzcampo and fantastic beef stew and pork ribs tapas from friendly people. We tried to speak Spanish and they helped with English. Great people in this part of Spain. Highly recommended. Will try hard to pass this way again.
Great place to stop during your journey to Almeria. The oil used for cooking is very good quality and the cuisine uses locally sourced ingridients.
Chuletón buenísimo, cantidad y calidad. Buen servicio y ambiente muy ameno. Volveremos seguro.
Prices have skyrocketed in the last two years. A set menu is 24 euros. The salmorejo tasted more like gazpacho and had hardly any ham. We'd been going there regularly for several years; it was a homey, friendly place... but for us, it's lost some of its charm.
The menu isn't worth the price! The person in charge of the kitchen should be reminded that the grill needs to be cleaned regularly… the secret cut was affected by the soot. Overall, it's disappointing! I wouldn't pay more than €14 for a menu they charge €23 for.
I was there today for a set menu that costs €23, which I think is highway robbery. They serve soup as a starter, but I ordered oxtail croquettes, and the three-leaf lettuce base they give you is awful. Then I ordered a sirloin steak with Roquefort sauce, which tasted burnt and like everything but cheese. My son could cook a better grilled sirloin. I'm never going back, and I don't recommend it. There are a thousand better places.
It's okay. They have a daily menu, good service, and the food is good. The chairs are very uncomfortable, but otherwise, it's fine. I should mention that they refused to serve us because we arrived twenty minutes late on another occasion when we tried to go weeks later, after having mentioned it to the waiter on the phone. I don't think we'll be going back.

We went for a ride. We went in at 11:50 to have a sandwich. The waitress told us there were no hot sandwiches, but they did have toasted sandwiches. She told us she said they were only open until 12, but neither my wife nor I heard her. We had two toasted sandwiches, a coffee, and a beer... They didn't give me a tapa for the beer. We decided to order another toasted sandwich, and they told us they didn't serve toast, only sandwiches or sandwiches. We looked a little dumb because, as I mentioned before, we hadn't realized it was only open until 12. So the waitress told her and told me that she had told me it was only open until 12, and that they served tapas after 12, and that they charged the same price for the beer. ... Anyone could make a mistake, but even if it's a house rule, if the waitress had been more polite, we would have enjoyed it more and better for five minutes. There was also a perfume-soaked waitress who, every time she walked by, seemed to be biting into the perfume instead of the toast. I doubt we'll stop back. The price wasn't cheap: almost €9 for two slices of toast, a coffee, and a third.
We always come here every summer, but this will be the last time. We went for dinner, and since it was still early, we asked him for something to eat on the terrace, and he said yes in an unfriendly tone. Since it was full of flies, we asked him to dine inside, and he said yes again, but as if he'd spare us. After five minutes, he came out and shouted from the door, asking us if we could dine inside and that we wouldn't bother him anymore. After that, we decided to leave without dinner, and when we went to pay and explain, he ran yelling into the kitchen.
