Zen Astorua Queens Reviews
10/10 experience! The food and the vibe were both amazing. Everything was delicious and the atmosphere made the whole experience even better. Our waitress Sarah was incredibly sweet and very attentive, making sure we had everything we needed throughout the night. Her service really stood out and made our visit even more enjoyable. I could definitely see us coming back again soon!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ One of the BEST dining experiences! I came to Zen with my son, his dad, and family, and we had an amazing time. Everything we ordered was delicious. The ribeye with lobster was cooked perfectly, the chicken satay was incredibly flavorful, and the lobster fried rice was AMAZING. The dessert was the perfect way to end the meal. The Tokyo Watermelon drink was also so good — refreshing and definitely a must try! What really made the experience stand out was the service. Our waitress Sarah was phenomenal — attentive, friendly, and made sure everything was perfect for us. And the host is honestly the best here, so welcoming and professional from the moment we walked in. My son loved the experience too, which made it even more special for our family. I highly recommend Zen if you’re looking for great food, great drinks, and outstanding service. We will definitely be coming Back
We had a wonderful experience at Zen in Astoria. Brisa took care of us, and she was absolutely delightful — everything she recommended was excellent. The atmosphere was incredible, with romantic music that set the perfect mood. The food was amazing, and we especially loved the Zen Star cocktail — a solid 10/10. The Argentine wine was also very good. Highly recommended!
Food and ambience was spectacular.I love the food and their baileys martini. They have the best photographer T. And their mannager Jessica was super nice We had so much fun definitely going to comeback here!
Merry was a phenomenal server with the brightest smile and great personality. She elevated my drink and made it EPIC. The vibe of Zen is 🔥🔥🔥🔥 Music, esthetics, and cleanliness was amazing.
We celebrate our friend’s birthday. Food, amazing! Drinks, amazing! Service, amazing! Very accommodating. But! Merry was the cherry on top of the cake! She made our experience more memorable and phenomenal! Will recommend and come back!
The food was great, nicely seasoned and prepared. Stephanie was the best waiter, she accommodated us so well and was such a vibe. Gerald was a great bartender, he prepared our drinks so amazingly.
This was such a beautiful restaurant. Our waitress, Stephanie, was so sweet and accommodating throughout our whole experience. The food and drinks she suggested were so good. 10/10 recommend! Gerald made our friend’s birthday dinner 10x better. Will definitely be back!!
The wagyu crispy nigiri was indulgent in the best way; rich, buttery, and finished with just enough sweetness. What truly elevated the experience, though, was our server Brisa. She was attentive, knowledgeable, and made fantastic recommendations that matched our tastes perfectly. Her warm energy and impeccable service made the night feel special from start to finish. Amazing food, great ambiance, and top-tier service—Zen is absolutely worth a visit
I had an exceptional experience at this restaurant from start to finish. The service was absolutely outstanding and truly made our visit memorable. The manager, Jessica, was wonderful professional, attentive, and genuinely cared about making sure everything was perfect. You can tell she takes great pride in her team and the guest experience. Our waiter, Brisa, was just as amazing. She was friendly, knowledgeable, and incredibly attentive without being overbearing. She made excellent recommendations and ensured we had everything we needed throughout the meal. It’s rare to find service this exceptional, and it truly sets this restaurant apart. I highly recommend dining here if you’re looking for great food paired with top-tier hospitality. We’ll definitely be back!
I recently celebrated my birthday at Zen Astoria, and it was a wonderfully warm experience from start to finish. The manager, Jessica was incredibly helpful and genuinely kind, going above and beyond to ensure my night was perfect and even helping me capture photos and content for the celebration. The food was amazing especially the lobster and the crispy chicken dumplings, which were absolutely drool-worthy. The ambiance is aesthetically pleasing and gorgeous, making the entire dining room feel both refined and welcoming. If you’re looking for a birthday dinner with superb service, delicious dishes, and a lovely atmosphere.
Brisa & Sarah and the rest of the staff were absolutely on point with unbelievable service. I cannot say enough good things about how they were on top of every detail and ran such an organized restaurant. The food was great, bartenders were on their A game, & the atmosphere is beautiful. I had to pull the manager Jessica aside and let her know how impressed I was. I will be back for sure. Was here for a holiday party but want to come back for dinner soon. A+++
I went to Zen with 8 of my friends for my birthday and firstly they were able to accommodate me with 4 days notice. When we got there we were seated right away and started off with drinks. My server Bri was super sweet and very helpful, she made sure we had EVERYTHING we needed. We had a prefixed menu and food was amazing, and even though the restaurant was packed the food didn’t take too long to come. The music was fire, it was such an amazing time at Zen. 10/10 definitely recommend and DEFINITELY coming back!
Everything 10/10. This place was a life-saver. I ordered the grilled lamb chops, best lamb chops order I've ever had, no bs. It was type empty when I first sat down, then more guests came in later on. When more guests arrived, they changed the music to my vibe. So music, food, customer service, ambiance, clean bathroom- clean everywhere = 5 ⭐️. I really hope they're consistent. Queens treated this Brooklyn girl good! Cant wait to come back💛
This is my second time coming to Zen, I’m originally from Atlanta and this is by far one of the best restaurants to visit. The service is impeccable, the food is flavorful and the staff were all very attentive with great sense of humor. I don’t often leave reviews but this location is a hidden gem. Thank you to Jessica and Brisa for the hospitality and welcoming culture. Some restaurants need to learn from them lol!
Dined here over the weekend for a friends birthday dinner... this place did not disappoint. I arrived first (lol) and Jessica the hostess was soo sweet, courteous and professional! She was also super accomodating during dinner and checked in on a friend with a gluten allergy. The service and level of attention to detail was unmatched. Most importantly, the food here was DELICIOUS! I enjoyed everything I tried and want to come back for a date night. Highly recommend this place for large parties or intimate dinners.
I had my birthday dinner at Zen Astoria, and the food was absolutely amazing! Everything we ordered was delicious and beautifully served. A special shoutout to Brisa, who was so nice and attentive—she patiently answered all our questions and made our dining experience even better. Highly recommend this place for any special occasion! 🎉🍽️
I waited some time to write this review because I had to reflect on the ultimate experience of this gem of a place. First, our host, Mike. Much kudos to Mike, who you can absolutely tell is no stranger to the business of dining and entertainment. He was subtle, pleasant, with wit and wisdom to spare. He showed us around the ample dining and lounge areas of the restaurant. There's gorgeous, well chosen and thoughtful artwork all around. Asian inspired decor had a perfectly balanced blend of traditional and modern. The atmosphere felt open, relaxed. I felt like I could have a fine dining experience as well as loads of fun after. Now, the food and drinks! There's lots of options on the menu. I had the soup dumplings (Xiao Long Bao) as an appetizer. I'm a soup dumpling afficionado and was impressed by the quality, flavor, texture! It matters when it comes to dumplings and Zen hit the mark. My main was the roasted pork belly over an Asian cole slaw. Cooked to perfection, flavorful. You could run a knife over it an hear that sound that tells you the skin was crispy, crunchy and everything you look for in a superbly prepared Pork belly. Chef's kiss. Lastly, for dessert was the Ube cheesecake, beautiful, naturally sweetened like ube itself, plated and decorated with care, as was with all their dishes. I will also mention the unique cocktails they have, crisp, balanced. I had and entirely spectacular experience. This place lives up to its name. This is where you'll truly find Zen.
This place was 10/10 I planned a surprise birthday dinner for my boyfriend and they pulled everything together! lol I’m vegan and they had food for me love that! Not many pictures I was living in the moment but my food was gooooood well the noodles, I didn’t like the veggies as much it could’ve been seasoned more but flavor of the noodles was 10/10 !!!! There was also this bald guy in a suit who took all of our pictures he was awesome and sweet ! Your staff was amazing zen ! Thanks again zen ! P.s TikTok sent me ❤️✨
I came here to celebrate a belated 16th birthday, best experience ever! Food was amazing, service was great, the ambiance is so comforting and cozy. I also came with a baby and everyone was so nice and helpful. I think the baby had a lot of fun also. I really feel this is the perfect spot for any occasion or even without an occasion just to treat yourself, this restaurant is perfect!
This review is well over due! My partner threw a surprise birthday dinner here for me back in October 2024 and they made it extra special. The food was a 10/10, the service was amazing, and the staff remembered my name which always adds a special touch. Everything about this restaurant was aesthetically pleasing, we will be back!
Overall this is a good spot but there are a few issues. First, the food. The appetizers were pretty good. I would definitely recommend the cauliflower and the wings. The chicken lo mein was also pretty good and a nice size serving. Unfortunately the other food was just not as good. My family went twice and tried so many different dishes from the dimsum to the burger to the lobster fried rice. The braised beef soup was definitely a miss both times for two different people. The fried rice was mediocre. The food isn’t bad, it just it’s that good. You might as well pay take out prices or go to a more authentic place. The Drinks. The drinks on the other hand were pretty good, although you have to go outside of happy hour for stronger drinks. I really like the Zenstar, the Tokyo watermelon, and the Zentini. The main cocktails are really sweet but they have a lot of options so that’s good. The Service. The service was great the first time for my sister’s birthday. The server was kind. The second time wasn’t so great. We started dinner during happy hour. It was my husband’s birthday and he wanted a drink with Toki whiskey that was on the happy hour menu but the server said she didn’t think they had it and asked what else he wanted. He said he only wanted that drink and she went to check for it. She came back and told us they didn’t have it so he ended up ordering a different drink. Later that night, when happy hour was over, his brother ordered the same drink and it was brought to him within minutes with no question. It was really upsetting because my husband had 3 drinks by then that he didn’t want. It really seemed that she just didn’t want to give him that drink for the 1/2 off price.
Great place in Astoria. Corner of 30th Avenue and 38th Street. Beautiful decor...very instagramable. Great spot for a date night or group of friends. Brisa was a great server. Recommended the Tuna Tartare and it was awesome. Drinks were great and strong. Recommend the Tokyo Watermelon and the Zen Star. Would definitely come back. Great spot with mynicipal paking nearby and public transportation also.
The restaurant is cute and the ambiance is nice, but unfortunately that’s where the positives end. From the moment we arrived, there was no one at the entrance taking care of guests waiting to check in or confirming reservations. After a while, one of the servers came to confirm our reservation but then left us at the door saying, “Give me a moment.” Another server eventually found us a table, even though we had a reservation and arrived on time. Once seated, the service felt rushed and disorganized. The server seemed in a hurry to take our order. We ordered two glasses of wine, which arrived about 20 minutes later, and only after we had already finished our second course. We then waited another 30 minutes for our main course, but instead, an employee started setting our table for dessert. Later, our server came back asking if we had already received all our food—while we were still waiting for the main course. During this time, we saw another table leave because no one was taking care of them. At another table, guests were openly saying that the service was terrible, and I completely agreed. We also witnessed food being delivered to the wrong table and then returned. Overall, everything felt chaotic. We were missing utensils for the next course, and at the end, we had to ask another employee for our check because our server never came back. When we received the bill, a 20% gratuity was automatically added. I don’t usually complain about tipping—I always tip and respect people working in the hospitality industry—but given this experience, the service simply did not justify it. Overall, the experience was a mess, and this is not a place I would return to or recommend.
