Thai Orchid Rensselaer Reviews
The drunken noodles were good and the service was quick. The staff was very communicative about how long my order would take. I was greeted warmly and enjoyed the food. It’s a great spot to stop in and have a solid meal. Definitely recommend.
I like to come here when the Amtrak stops by and there's an hour layover. Better than other places I tried. Boba pearls were noticeably undercooked. But still, good stuff.
It's not the fanciest place but the food is seriously great. My friend and I shared the Thai pierogies, I got the eggplant stir-fry and she got the pad Thai. Everything was absolutely DELICIOUS. We were just passing through the area, but if I lived here I'd be there every week. Very good food!
Traveling from Montreal to JFK, craving some good ole Thai food otw and this place took us by surprise! Delicious authentic Thai food - highly recommend the papaya salad, tom yam soup, and duck pad thai! We asked for thai spicy 🌶️🔥 Ignore all the other comments about aesthetics of place - it’s is clean and service is great. If you want authentic, delicious, no-frill Thai food, don’t miss out on this!
Amazing place! Hidden gem!! The space is small and nothing fancy at all. But the food is incredible!! The scallops with the pad Thai was delicious! The drunken noodle with beef was amazing and spicy! Also tried the following samosas, curry puffs, and calamari. All were delicious! We wanted to venture outside of Albany for some good Thai and this is the best we have had since moving out of NYC. Well worth it!! Ps the prices and portions are worth it!
My mind is blown!!! Thai Orchid is a very unassuming looking spot, my boyfriend and I passed by it a few times on our walks, and I am SO glad we finally stopped in. We so impressed by the calamari ($7!!!) which was fresh and fried to perfection. I ordered the stir fried Thai Orchid bamboo with duck, and my boyfriend ordered the Siam chicken. The presentation was beautiful, the serving size was generous, and it was beyond delicious! So excited to come back and try more dishes, and I’m definitely telling all my friends about this place!
I went to Thai Orchid for the first time as a recommendation of a friend. The waiter was so helpful and answered many of my questions. I frequent Thai restaurants but this time, I was looking for a more unique experience as my friend mentioned this restaurant had a few dishes more related to his native land, Burma. So, I was met with some options and finally settled on the Kao Soi. It was delicious! The way I'd describe it is as a curry soup with noodles and veggies, so good. We also had some appetizers which were delicious, the Samosas (which were surprisingly similar to Samosas you'd get from an Indian restaurant). The ambiance in the restaurant was nice and we had the entire place to ourselves. The waiter was attentive to our needs but also gave us privacy so that we could chat and catch up.
Best Thai food in Albany and possibly all of NY! The food is flavorful, the portions are large, and the prices are incredibly reasonable. If you’ve ever had a whole fried fish from a Thai place, well get ready to be blown away. Just order the whole fried fish and tell them the level of spiciness you want and they’ll take it from there. Absolutely incredible and unlike anything I’d tried before. Also, save room for dessert because their fried iced cream is so dang good. Come here now and come hungry!
The food was AMAZING! I got the red curry without zucchini and I got a thai ice tea bubble tea. The others I went with got sumtom salad, fresh rolls, peroggis, and golden tofu with plum sauce. The red curry sauce was very creamy and delicious, I could eat just a bowl of that sauce alone! The bubble tea was very sweet and the tapioca pearls had a sweet flavor! Very reasonable prices. The atmosphere was calm and refreshing. Beautiful decorations. The reason that the service is 4 stars is because food wait time was about 30 minutes and he almost forgot my drink. Very nice waiter though! I would definitely go again.
The pineapple curry was really amazing (creamy and quite spicy (for a 2/5)). Their prices are excellent for lunch time too.
During a long 13-hour train ride from Toronto to New York, we had a short stopover in Albany. My daughter was craving Thai food, so we briskly walked to Thai Orchard. Despite our tight timeline, the staff was incredibly kind and had our order ready quickly. The food was delicious, fresh, and perfect to enjoy back on the train. A big thank you to the team for their excellent service and hospitality. Highly recommended for anyone passing through Albany!
