Anton's African Cuisine Roanoke Reviews
Her food is so fresh with amazing flavors. If you like African food you will love her red snappers, oxtail & potatoes is the best with potatoes leaf on the side with rice. I have tasted most her food and it will not dispointed you. You will go back for more!! Please check her place out!! This a hidden gem.
Highly recommend this restaurant!! The food, the cleanliness, the service was all immaculate. I had the Fufu & Egusi Soup/Stew AMAZINGLY delicious. I definitely satisfied my cravings and will be back!
Absolutely phenomenal! I had the kabobs, and I have to say, the flavor was the best I’ve ever had, the spicy dip on the left was to die for and the mixture of flavors was on point. Having lived overseas in Germany, I’ve tried kabobs from all kinds of cuisines, but this was on another level. Perfectly seasoned, incredibly tender, and bursting with flavor in every bite. You can tell everything is made with care and attention to detail. Olivia’s Scratch Kitchen has officially raised the bar. I’ll definitely be coming back!
Absolutely amazing experience at Olivia’s Scratch Kitchen! The grilled whole fish was perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection — tender, juicy, and full of flavor. It was beautifully topped with colorful bell peppers and paired with a generous serving of flavorful jollof rice. The side of spicy sauce added just the right kick, and the fresh lemon wedges gave a nice tangy touch. Presentation was on point, and everything tasted homemade with love. The fruit and veggie sides were fresh and vibrant. You can really tell they take pride in their food. Highly recommend if you’re looking for authentic African cuisine with a warm, welcoming vibe. Great value for the price!
Where do I start? Food beyond amazing honestly all the flavors remind me of my own mom’s cooking. Truly amazing. My favorite dish? Tilapia and attiake and plantain. The jollof and chicken is too sweet. Customer service very really welcoming Recommend 10/10
Nestled in the entrance of a small food hall attached to a brewery, Olivia's is an eatery focused on African cuisine. I had the pleasure of experiencing Olivia's due to my TikTok peaking my curiosity of foods outside of my normal comfort zone. Originally, I was going to get the Egusi with Fufu but changed my mind at the last minute and went for the Ox Tails and Jollof Rice. OMG... My taste buds experienced a new dimension tonight! The ox tails were tender, juicy, flavorful and plenty in a broth surrounded by large chucks of carrot, potatoes, and fava beans. The Jollof Rice was cooked to perfection with robust seasoning and vegetables. I also had some Puff Puffs - fried dough balls and a Meat Pie. The Puff Puffs were fried perfectly and seasoned well. I didn't have room in my tummy for the meat pie but I know it's gonna be great for breakfast! If you're in Roanoke, this is a 10/10 must try. Spice level can be customized mild, medium or spicy - medium was perfect for my white girl taste buds. Service was impeccable and everything was made fresh and served hot. I cannot wait for a cold rainy day to go back and dive into a dish of Egusi and Fufu!!
Olivias is amazing, and the staff are so friendly. We had the oxe tail with coconut rice, and the flavor was outstanding. I could eat here everyday amd be blown away. We also got an order of Pepper Kala (puff puff), and i would sell one of my kids for another basket. They were like savory beignet with a roasted onion dipping sauce. Olivias is inside a communial shared space with a brewery and other food vendors. Everything and everyone was excellent, and I'm happy to drive the hour from where I live to eat and hang out at this new discovery.
This place is phenomenal and Ms. Olivia is so very nice and knowledgeable about her craft. This is a little hidden gem should be on the map!! Stop by , say hi, and enjoy the good food and vibes!!

Great food and service, Olivia does a great job with the food and variety of the menu. It’s located in a food hall that’s a nice place to hangout out with other establishments there as well for a variety of foods, but you must come get a taste of Africa!

The beef skewers are like eating a fine state flavor. Texture tenderness is amazing. Still waiting to try the oxtail.

Just ate at Olivia's Scratch Kitchen and I’m impressed. The service was amazing — super friendly and made us feel right at home from the start. The Liberian food is delicious . You can taste the love and effort that goes into every dish. Everything felt fresh and homemade. If you haven’t tried this spot yet, you’re missing out. Great people, and seriously good food.

Tried African food for the first time when moving to Texas and Ive been going here at least once a week ever since. Delicious food
This place is a hidden gem inside a mini food hall connected to a brewery. All the meat pies are delicious, make sure to ask for their signature hot sauce if you like the spice. Olivia is such an amazing soul, support her business if your in the area and you wont be disappointed. Will be coming back and hope to see you here!!
This food is soooo good! Especially the rice. Most flavor I've tasted in a long time. The tomato/cucumber salad was a nice addition and customer service was great. They also have really nice outdoor seating which is really nice when the weather is good. It's definitely worth a visit!!! I'll be back for sure.

I had the oxtail with jollof rice, and it was hands down one of the best meals I’ve had in a long time. The oxtail was tender, flavorful, and cooked to perfection, it fell right off the bone. The jollof rice was packed flavor 💕

This is the worst Africa. Food I’ve ever tried. Went to have some fufu but she didn’t have it. Then we ordered jollof rice with mutton, fried fish and some meat pies. Nothing tasted good. It took her more than 30 minutes to give our food. Then we tried everything but couldn’t even eat few bites. It was so oily and the rice was super dry. Fish had a really bad taste plus the pies were horrible. Waste of time and money. We had to throw our food away after try first bites. Super disappointed. I do t know how she has good reviews. Maybe she give free food for reviews. But who would eat it. Never ever going back to this place or not recommending this place to anyone. I had African food before and it was fantastic. This is just really bad food. Maybe it’s good for people who never tried good food. 😞
went here with a friend. asked for soup minus meat. they didn't comply. i was assured that the meat was essential, and that asking for a dish without one of the items was insulting. i took the food as they prepared it--with meat. it did not taste good, in the slightest. maybe only try going here if you're african, and already into this stuff.
