Foster's Roanoke Reviews
We really like this place. Sashimi and tools are great. They have happy hour with great prices on food and drinks. 2nd time and liked it yet again. The Spicy Tuna Rolls were great, as was the Spicy Scallop rolls. Also had a little sashimi which was good as well.
Me and my travel nurse buddies visited here after our contract ended. The atmosphere was on point. From the beginning Julie our server made us feel right at home. She was fun and spunky. The food was amazing. The rolls delicious. Sushi tasted fresh. Very good drink and beer selection. After we closed out here it was a short walk to the bar. Definitely will go back next time I'm in town.
AMAZING definitely will come again! Food was FANTASTIC!!! Got salmon sushi super white tuna sushi and sakura roll sushi melted in your mouth and roll was really good too! But the best part is the service. Go inside and everyone is so freaking nice! They greet you, say Hellllo!!!! It was my grandsons birthday and they gave free deep fried cheesecake put happy birthday on a SPEAKER. And literally played a GONG!!! Will come again!
Went to Foster’s tonight for the second time since it’s been under new management. My wife ordered Bibimbap and I ordered the Beef & Shrimp Hot Ramen. Both were fantastic! We also ordered the Nacho Roll, which was great as well. Our beautiful server, Jasmine, mentioned the Green Tea Cheese Cake, so we ordered a slice to share, not expecting anything special. However, it was delicious! Jasmine was fantastic! Her mom, beautiful Kylie, who made the Green Tea Cheese Cake, is awesome! And Tom created the delicious Nacho Roll. Foster’s is as great as it’s always been, if not better! Highly recommend Foster’s in Roanoke for anyone who loves sushi and other great Asian cuisine! 5 stars for sure!
Sushi was delicious. Service was excellent. Draft Asahi and Ichiban were fresh and crisp. Highly recommended. Dude was wearing a kamikaze headband, it's authentic.
Foster's Sushi in downtown Roanoke is under new management and they have made significant improvements to their restaurant and the quality of their food. The new family took over just a couple weeks ago and they are looking to improve the menu here in the next few weeks. You should definitely check them out if you're into sushi and anything with a Korean twist. … See more
Wow such incredible sushi and AWESOME service. We had the Tuna Salmon Heaven and the riceless Foster's Roll. Miso soup as well. Jasmine and two other beauties were our servers and they greeted us with charm, poise and friendliness that came from the heart. You are missing out if you don't eat here. Get Jasmine as your server. Sweetest person and so dedicated to making our experience absolutely PERFECT. This is the best sushi in the area, guys.
first time coming here, incredible service positive attitudes needless to say the food was amazing. I also liked their clear soup so much I asked if I could get another one and they said it was on the house! food was a little pricey but I think with the service and the taste of the food it makes sense. Lunch hours are cheaper than dinner. But again I think it’s worth it I would most likely go again.
Foster’s is one of my favorite sushi spots! The atmosphere is simply great; the music they play is always on point and adds to the overall enjoyment of the dining experience. It just makes the place fun! Music always makes a difference. The food is so good, and my family and I always look forward to our meals here. This time, I had the Sashimi combination and it was incredibly fresh and delicious. While the prices can be a bit on the higher side, the quality of the food and the enjoyable atmosphere make it worth it. Ohh and the Heart Attack and Coconut Shrimp were bomb too, those are just a couple appetizers to mention. I love the location it’s definitely a huge plus! After enjoying sushi, you can easily stroll to nearby spots for dessert, like the pie place or the candy shop, and there's even ice cream nearby. Overall, Foster’s is a great place to dine, and I highly recommend it!
Foster Sushi and Hibachi is a great place to enjoy a delicious meal in a relaxing atmosphere. The staff is kind and welcoming, making the dining experience even better. I ordered the sashimi bento, which was reasonably priced and exceeded my expectations in quality and freshness. I’ll definitely be coming back!
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Foster's Sushi, and it was an unforgettable experience! From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was warm and inviting, with a perfect balance of modern elegance and traditional Japanese charm. The true star of the show, however, was the sushi. The sushi chef is a true artist, and it shows in every bite. The fish was incredibly fresh, and the balance of flavors was simply perfection. I especially loved the nigiri—each piece was so delicately prepared that it practically melted in my mouth. The specialty rolls were equally impressive, with unique combinations that perfectly blended traditional flavors with a modern twist. Whether you're a sushi enthusiast or new to Japanese cuisine, Foster's Sushi delivers an exceptional dining experience that will leave you coming back for more. The attention to detail, the quality of ingredients, and the creativity of the dishes make it a top choice for anyone looking to indulge in authentic sushi. Highly recommended!
Foster's was a fantastic restaurant to have a date night during Lent. There wasn't anything that we ate that wasn't delicious. The shrimp and vegetable tempura was perfectly cooked with the right amount of crispy batter. The hot sake complemented all of our sushi. The Ahi Tuna Tower was magnificent, the Crispy California Roll was amazing, and the two additional rolls we had were fantastic. Extra attention was given to all special requests to our orders. There wasn't anything we didn't enjoy during our dining experience. We would certainly come back in a heartbeat. If there was a negative experience it was that wasabi was not provided; it had to be requested.
Fosters is a great gem of flavor in a sea of food choices one has in Roanoke. They have an amazing menu including both Japanese and Korean dishes. The sushi is always amazing, their clay pot dishes warm the soul and the staff are so friendly and helpful. Just ask and they will explain every dish in detail. Pictures are of Albacore Tuna, steamed pork dumplings, a clay pot dish, grilled salmon and beef bulgogi. Every dish was amazing and there was so much meat on the bulgogi it felt like eating a 16 oz sreak... soooooooo good....
We really like Fosters overall. Food and drinks have never disappointed. Prices were always a little high, but they offered a Happy Hour that ended up being pretty reasonable. They recently changed the happy hour menu for the worse though unfortunately and it's no longer a good deal. Still a great restaurant, but unless prices get reduced a bit, I think we'll have to come less frequently.
It was my first time at this establishment and I have to say, it wasn't the last. We were greeted warmly and seated in a booth as we requested. Our server came shortly and she was the sweetest. My miso soup came, it was a little different from the ones I had before. Didn't mind the slight saltiness in the heat. For the main course we ordered Bulgogi and Bibimbap, together with a Butterfly Roll and Fried Spicy Tuna Roll. I've only experienced the heaven in my mouth phenomena once before and this was the second time. That first taste of their Bulgogi amazed me. So much flavor and the beef tender. I enjoyed my fried rice bowl which was suggested to me. The Bibimbap was well prepared, flavorful and overall well presented. Both rolls tasted delicious. It was a pleasant experience and I can only recommend this place for both sushi and Korean dishes they offer.
Loved this place!! We enjoyed the patio seating and took advantage of their vast Happy Hour menu and went to town!! Our server was awesome and continued to be understanding that our stomachs were bottomless pits. We had everything from salmon nigiri, to fried jalapeños stuffed with crab, fried avocado, edamame, seaweed salad, and countless rolls. 10/10 recommend.
I came for a late lunch and was sorely disappointed. The price of the food does not match its quality which baffles me. I’ve read so many reviews of others bragging that their experience, food and price especially, was top tier. I ordered the calamari which I feel was not an appropriate amount for the portion. I ordered the Dark Samurai for my entree which was not good. The rice was over cooked, the unagi was over seasoned and the pile of fried onions just took the salt content over the top. I ate three bites trying to give it a chance but could not stomach anymore. I decided to order a Poke bowl and they served a sad amount of tuna on a huge bed of spring greens… that’s not a Poke bowl. In my opinion, it should naturally be served with sushi rice and spring greens should be offered as a substitution. I was sorely disappointed but I think there room for improvement. The menu needs to be refined and a quality test needs to be done so that consistency becomes muscle memory. Some combinations don’t work and maybe should be discontinued. Just my two cents. Service on the other hand was okay.
I don't know why, but every time me and my family come here they forget something. We ordered the stuffed avocados they forgot them. We order sushi this time and they forgot it. The weird thing though, is the table next to us got everything they ordered and the table who came in after us got everything. I even asked for a box for the food I did get and of course no box. I even asked for it twice. I don't know, at this point maybe its best to go somewhere that will actually WANTS our business because Foster's continues to prove time and time again our business is not wanted or needed apparently. Which is fine, just wish they cared about ALL their patrons.
We got there Saturday around 1 pm. We were 1 of the only 2 tables there and the service was terrible. The lady was not attentive at all it was quite frustrating. To start no water until our food came out. We ordered 60$ in drinks and they took over 30 mins to get to the table. The food was good no complaints there. I ordered 1 more drink after the food was done and it never came, i even asked the lady what happened with my order and turns out she never put it in. I canceled it, gave her a good tip around 40$ and just left. Never coming back. Keep in mind we were the only customers there at the time excluding the other table.
We ordered two house rolls during the lunch special. Neither rolls included ginger or wasabi, we had to request them separately. The rolls tasted fine but fell apart easily. Then they overcharged for both house rolls. The service was slow even though the place was empty. We have been here several times, everyone has bad days and deserves another chance, but this place consistently disappoints.
