I love the vibe of inclusion 💞 The 'Pay It Forward' board is a great way to sponsor a meal for someone less fortunate. I'm so glad I saw the story of this coffee shop on the news!!

It's very rare I find a place I'd give 5 across the board, but this place did it ❣️❣️ Very clean, friendly, with excellent coffee, and great prices!!!

This spot is a whole vibe. From the delicious menu of beverages to lunch items to the great funky decor that makes you feel at home and comfy. The owner is what really sets this place apart from any other coffee spot. Her personality and her drive is unmatched. Keep doing what you do because I see you and admire you!💜

Love the atmosphere, my partner took me here on a whim and we enjoyed it. It's a very accepting place! Coffee is quite good too!

All the workers are warm and welcoming when you come in. There’s so much to do while you sip your delicious coffee whether hot or cold. There are many events that happen so whether you’re looking for a place for a chill meeting with friends or a night out with experiences, this is a place to check out. Great prices as well, matches the quality of the drinks you get.

Equal grounds is such a cute and convenient location! I stopped by here this morning with my mom and ordered the spring bunny special latte. I’m a sweet drink lover, however, this one was a bit too sweet for me. I do know that the barista had said that she can make them less sweet - which if I have the ability to come back in the future, I may take them up on it. My mom ordered the dirty spiced chai with a shot of espresso and it was unreal. It was literally a snickerdoodle cookie in drink form. This drink easily earned a 10/10 rating. As for the Easter special, I would most likely lean towards a 5/10 or 6/10 just based on my preferences. It definitely earns extra points for aesthetics and a peep on top! I also loved the fact that you’re able to sponsor a “pay it forward” meal for someone who may need it. I purchased a grilled cheese and chips for someone who may need a warm meal in the future. You tell the barista and you’re able to pick what you want to order for someone and then put it on the cork board in the front of the restaurant. It’s a great opportunity to give back to others! The aesthetics and kindness of this place is so warm. It feels comfortable sitting in the atmosphere of everything. There was even a little therapy dog with his family when I came in! He’s there every Friday morning.

Visiting Eastman School of Music. Stopped in. The special coffees were spot on, and the steak bagel was delicious. The server was very friendly and great service. Such a welcoming place. Happy we stopped by.

Love this place! Have gone in the past for a quick drink to go but this was my first time really sitting and hanging out. I loved that there were so many tea options as someone who doesn't drink coffee. Everything is so cute, quirky, and fun and I can appreciate how cold the AC is 😆 will definitely be back in the future!

What a great change the new owner has done with this community staple. I can’t wait to come back again with my book club. Strong, tasty oat lattes. Plenty of space. This is a good place for groups. I went once before under the previous owners and the cafe is 10x better now.

The atmosphere is fantastic! You can feel the love in the building as soon as you enter the establishment. Highly recommend. Not to mention, how awesome the food is, all kinds of varieties of teas, coffees, pastries and much more!!

Great coffee shop in the South Wedge. The service was quick and welcoming. They have good food, and they use Canaltown Coffee! The shop has a good listing of resources for those seeking help, too. This isn't a shop for those who don't believe in equality for ALL, though I hope that population is near extinct. It's a grade A place.

Comfy cafe with a great drink and sandwich selection, ample seating, and friendly staff. It's spacious enough that you can find a corner to hunker down and get some work done to the pleasant background soundtrack. The decor is welcoming and brimming with pride. Wifi: Free password protected 2.4 GHz wifi Parking: The lot is a bit cramped, but there's a number of spots.

The staff was very friendly and the drinks were delicious. The Decor was homey, but it definitely needs some minor improvements such as fresh stain on the floor. Looks a bit shabby. Especially since the walls look recently painted. That aside, I love the subtle touches like the cute changing password for the WiFi and the tip suggestions. I think they should go all out with humour. Definitely a great safe haven for the lgbtq+ community. Must check it out if you’re visiting the area.

Had amazing iced latte (perfect amount of coffee for me) and heated danish. Was a perfect evening! I generally rate coffee shops based on how good my pee smells after having the drink. The 5 stars for that smell. 😂 (Don't judge me :p)

The food and coffee at this cafe was always amazing - but recently, they have renovated the indoors and it looks bomb! I went to school in Rochester for four years and we would sometimes come here for a late night hot cocoa, dessert, and games or a weekend breakfast. They used to have old chairs, tables and couches, slightly worn out. I went to visit a friend in Rochester and we visited the cafe again - instantly loved the new look! The staff is very hospitable and friendly. They are a LGBT safe space cafe promoting inclusion which makes my heart happy! It is a great place to work out of or play board games with friends.

If you're going for a vegan sandwich and they're out of vegan cheese, which they have been the last several times I've beenz this is what you're getting. This sandwich + coffee + muffin = $22 Used to be a much better deal years ago Edit: Response to the reply, with all due respect I visited because I want this place to succeed so much but competitors are offering a better value in the same economy, it impacts me as well, I cannot visit as often as I would like to at this rate. I am not the first to point this out and it is an issue that behaves as a negative spiral. Taking a bit more loss per item sold would do a lot to get people coming back in and recommending the shop to others. I have great memories here and want to go back to making that a habit, but it is kind of difficult to justify for myself and to my friends.

I haven't been here extensively, but the several times I've tried the food it was underwhelming. The chicken and hummus wrap had very little flavor and the serving size was smaller than I had expected. The breakfast sandwich I ordered on a different occasion also didn't have great flavor. The ambiance is lovely and I love the local art. Staff is friendly. I have yet to try the drinks, but I don't think I will be ordering food again. I'm hoping with a few small changes they can improve some food menu items.

I came in to order two coffees and two sandwiches. The person at the counter told me there would be a 20–30 minute wait for the sandwiches, so to make things easier for her—since she was alone, overwhelmed, and handling both drinks and food—I decided to order just the coffees. After waiting 10 minutes, I realized she was preparing orders strictly in order of arrival, which meant I would still end up waiting the full 20–30 minutes just for the coffees. At that point, I politely asked if she could add the sandwiches to my order, since I was already waiting the same amount of time. She responded very rudely, telling me I’d have to go to the back of the line. I tried explaining that she wasn’t clear that the 20–30 minute wait applied to everything, including drinks, and that if I had known, I would’ve ordered the sandwiches upfront. I completely understand that she was overwhelmed and working alone, but the way she responded made it feel like she simply didn’t want to add the sandwiches because she didn’t want more work—rather than trying to help clarify or problem-solve. When I then asked for a refund for the coffees, she again spoke to me rudely and told me I’d need to go to the back of the line. I ended up waiting over 40 mins for the coffee, at least she ended up refunding me my order. The customer service here was unacceptable. Never coming back, and I do not recommend this place.

My girlfriend and I went to this cafe to try something new. And after going, I know where to avoid. Every time we went to order something, they said they were out. Asked for a mocha chino? They were out of chocolate. Asked for cheddar on your breakfast sandwich? They were out of cheddar. Wanted an English muffin for your breakfast sandwich? They were out of English muffins. How can you be out of so much on a Sunday morning? Aren't you a cafe? I ended up ordering a smoothie, but the smoothie was more of a slushie. I was told I had to wait 10 minutes for my breakfast sandwich. But after 10 minutes went by, I heard a microwave go off. The croissant breakfast sandwich I got was this mangled sandwich which looked like it was put together by people who clearly didn't care. While i was waiting, a woman with her son came up to the counter asking where their food was. She said they've been waiting for 20 minutes, but the guy at the counter said he had 3 tickets in front of her, which is absurd. By far the worst cafe in Rochester. Definitely avoid.
