Tum Thai Rockville Centre Reviews
Great place with delicious food, friendly service, and solid parking nearby. My two boys (8,12) love it too!
I’ve been coming to Tum Thai for about 10 years now. And I have NEVER been disappointed leaving there. The food is outstanding, the service is exceptional, and the atmosphere is marvelous. I could honestly eat here everyday of the week 🤣 The food is also very authentic thai cuisine and the eats are clean and tasty. Tum Thai is a great spot for a dinner date, a business meeting, and a great spot to grab some quick lunch. Matter of fact, I’m going to head there now! Thanks Tum!!
With curfew coming up and hungry bellies my bestie and I found this place with a random yelp search. We Walked in and the place smelled so good and was very clean. The food took about 15 minutes to finish which was good timing but next time we would call ahead just to speed up the process. They also have wine bottles to go if that's something you would like. I had the shrimp pineapple fried rice and wontons and my friend had the same rice and potstickers . The wontons cane with a plus sauce that was delish we ate them so fast we forgot to take a picture lol . The food was fresh, serving was big. i would definitely visit these guys again .
seriously sooo good. i had the pad see ew which is often what i order when i go to any thai place but this was probably the best i’ve had so far. very flavorful and just absolutely delicious. the salad that came with the lunch special was also really good, it had this yummy peanut dressing. the atmosphere was really nice too, the decor inside and everything was just gorgeous!
I can not say enough about TTC. Wow! This another restaurant that I tried for the 1st time. The service is outstanding and quick. My food came to me freshly cooked and hot. I ordered the whole Snapper with Lobster Rice. I would describe the inside as intimate. The restaurant has a TV to watch games on. The service from staff is very attentive with greetings coming and going. TTC is definite a restaurant choice for me to entertain out-of-town guests or just a great place to go and have dinner with friends. Dinner starts at 5pm. Seating fills up quickly. Large dinner parties need to arrive at 5pm or you might be waiting to be seated.
We love some Tum Thai food atmosphere service is absolutely amazing. It’s great for a fast takeout or if you’re in the mood for a date night or fun times with the friends and Fam.
I frequent this place, and have never had a poor experience. I have never dined in but if the takeout is this good I can only imagine the food would be better if I could stay. Staff is very pleasant, and extra helpful. I cant say enough good things about this place. If you are reading reviews to decide on a place, I hope you make it to mine and make it to Tum Thai.
We went fr lunch and they specials that include soup and salad. Everything we got was delicious! Prices averaged $11-$13 and for every dish, you can choose whether you want it with: beef, chicken, tofu, vegetables, shrimp, or squid. The vegetable soup was also outstanding. If you're in the Rockville Centre area, we recommend it.
Great thai food. Restaurant was a bit cramped on a Saturday night. I had the Pad see ew with chicken which was great. My brother had a curry dish with noodles which he liked. For appetizer we had the calamari which was delicious. For dessert we had creme brule which came in 3 flavors - coffee, thai tea and green tea. It was excellent. Overall a great meal and good service.
Cozy little place with interesting decor. The food was amazing and the staff was great. My fiancé had the mixed sea food with jasmine rice and I had the Thai sausage fried rice. The venue only serves beer and wine. We had the plum wine and thai iced tea. The plum wine was good but super sweet and the iced tea was good, but I’ve had better thai iced tea. We finished off with the flaming fried ice cream. Would definitely come back here to try the other items on the menu! Everything was so affordable.
I had the absolute BEST vegan food, and best food PERIOD. The vegan duck at Tum Thai will make you consider going vegan if you're a meat eater, and will have you skeptically inspecting your dish as a vegan. The vegan duck hits very single mark that meat does and isn't missing any flavor OR texture. I urge you, even if you're not vegan to try the vegan duck, you will not feel like you are eating an homage or knock off of an original dish, but instead you'll taste every flavor and be blown away. As a vegetarian I love this place and my Mother who isn't vegetarian or vegan loved the vegan duck dishes as well! Pictured above is the vegan duck red curry.
Went there with my wife for the first time for Lunar New Year Celebration. The restaurant has very beautiful atmosphere inside with golden lotus hanging from the roof. Very nice ambience. If you are looking for indoor photography while having your meal, then this is the place. People are nice and very polite, always come to you with a wonderful smile. The aroma inside reminded me of my multiple Thai trips. Food was very good, slightly customised for American customers, yet has that original flavour. I would recommend this place to any Asian food lover.
Haven't been back in a few years it seems as they completely renovated it and the restaurant is so cute now ! Very modern design, not as much Asian influence in the decor like it used to be, but certainly instagram worthy. The food is as good as it used to be and they put more effort in plating. Glad this place is still here, first time I had it was 8 years ago!
Amazing experience made it just in time to enjoy a late lunch! The food was delicious fresh and so well plated! The staff was attentive and helpful without being over bearing. The space and atmosphere were nice and inviting. The menu had all the classics of Thai cuisine. If I am ever back in Long Island I will deff stop by again!
Ordered the Lemongrass Pork Chops, the Chicken Green Curry, and closed the night with fried Ice Cream. The chops were delicious and grilled to perfect tenderness. The Chicken Green Curry was flavourful and the spice was more to the milder side. The fried ice cream had amazing presentation with use of some fireworks! The place also had nice interior decorations with golden art along the walls and ceiling. Totally a place to go to on any occasion!
We came in here without extended research - searched, found restaurants with excellent reviews, picked this one in particular as we were craving Thai food tonight. One step in, the rich décor was a feast to the eyes. Amazing! Also appreciated the plexiglass dividers between tables in these troubling times. The calamari as appetizer was a great pointer from online reviews and absolutely lived up to the reputation. We went with a red curry with fish fillets, the scallop dish from the specials, a Pad Thai, and a Thai fried rice. Every one of these was lip smacking delicious. For dessert - the fried ice cream and the mango with sticky rice hit the spot. Every one of the dishes were plated beautifully. A true gastropub, if we have ever been to one on Long Island.
My favorite Thai place in Long Island. Great staff and great food with fantastic atmosphere. The curry duck is to die for. Not many restaurants that get the nod from the Mrs, and this is one of them. Thats saying a lot
Best thai place in long island. I come here for birthdays, special dinners, or a thai restaurant craving. The interior is soo nice. For starters I recommend getting the grilled squid, chicken satay, papaya salad, tom yaum soup. The thai iced tea is a must. For entrees I recommend getting pad thai, basil fried rice, tamarine fish, or green curry. Everything I tried here is always so good savory. They have desserts like the fried ice cream, lava cake and crème brûlée which i love! I recommend you definitely come here for dinner!!!
Love love love this place. We came on a Tuesday and service was quick. The food tasted awesome and they were all attentive the whole while.. We ordered Spring rolls and Fried calamari for appetizers and both came out great, especially the sauce that came with the calamari. For entrees, we had the beef Massaman curry and Lamb chops. Both came with rice and both tasted awesome. The beef massaman wasn't as spicy as I was used to but it was flavorful. Will be back!
Tim Thai is definitely a favorite! The food here is amazing. I got the beef with sauteed broccoli which has a nice balance of vegetables and meat. My wife enjoys the lobster which comes in a really delicious sauce. Recommended for lobster lovers. I would definitely recommend Tum Thai for all occasions
I love the food, service and prices. There is a variety of vegetarian dishes you can choose from. I've never had to wait more than 5 minutes to be seated. Waiters are always attentive, pleasant and patient.
Been here for their great Lunch special and a dinner, last time i got the red curry beef and loved it. This time the Hot Sweet basil duck, absolutely loaded dish and very spicy. Duck was juicy inside and crispy outside. Thai dumplings, chicken wings, mussels, fried calamari, and the chicken soup are all amazing starters. I recommend trying the Thai iced tea is a sweet delicious drink especially if you’re choosing a spicy dish. Very nice dining room and space make this a very nice ambiance to enjoy in.
Love this place!!! If you are in to Thai food and not afraid to explore the delicate flavors of the thai cuisine, l highly recommend to visit this place, you ofcourse will find the typical widely known Padthai or Basil Duck, but just goind through the apetizers will give you an amazing palad adventure. Prices are more than fair, tending to low, in comparisson to the great quality of food that you will get. Dont miss it!!!
Very delicious food with generous portions for the money! The vibes were cool too as the decor was modern and fancy with the lighting. We got the Thai iced tea, tamarind duck, hot sweet basil duck, thai basil fried rice with mixed seafood, wings, kanum jeep dumplings, lava cake and creme brûlée! Everything was spectacular
This is my go to Thai restaurant whenever I am in New York. They have good ambiance, good service, very friendly and accommodating staff, good tasting food and value for money. This restaurant is just near my hotel so whenever I fly to New York for work I always see to it that I will dine and have my Thai food cravings satisfied. I usually order their Thai fried rice, Tom yum soup, Som tum salad, Pad Thai, Satay and spring rolls. If you will be around Rockville Center area, drop by and try their good tasting Thai food.
Went for dinner on a Friday night (around 8:00 pm)with close friends and my husband. The atmosphere was amazing, the staff was sweet like sugar but, when we came in to eat dinner it was very crowded. We wait by the bathroom for 20 minutes to be seated. The place is very clean that includes the bathroom too. They don't check for your Vaccination card but, they do follow the CDC guidelines by wearing a mask, social distance from the other tables, and having Dividers up. The food & drinks came out quick and the food and drinks are delicious. The $price is reasonable because you get big plates of food that you can share so worth it! If you love Thai food this is the place to go, don't miss out on some good Thai food and great service, drinks, and a beautiful atmosphere this is the place to be.
My friends and I really enjoyed our dining experience here. When you walk in that have decorated bird cages hanging from the roof. The seating inside is a bit tight, but they make it work. We ordered everything from the grilled squid, beef pad see ew, Tom yum soup, duck yellow curry, beef spicy noodle, and the Pla lad prig fillet. The flavors and seasoning were on point. I loved the noodle dishes. The duck was fried perfectly and adding it to the creamy yellow coconut curry added some nice textures. The squid is a must order and a great appetizer option. Prices are reasonable and food portions are fair. They have an extensive menu that will satisfy any craving. They only take walks in and luckily on a busy Saturday night we were able to get a seat without a wait. There is plenty of street parking in the front. If you can't find any there is an open lot 2 blocks down.
This place may get crowded but it is worth any wait. The food tastes delicious and comes out so quickly. The staff is ultra customer-oriented and attends to all your needs. We can always count on a great meal here. Plus, they are true their word. I left one time and they forgot to give me my take-out (I wanted to bring something home to hubby after my daughter and I ate). I called and the manager said he would keep track and n apply it to my next meal when I came in. That's exactly what they did on my next visit. I am a customer for life!
I’ve been coming here for years and one thing I truly appreciate is their consistency. I always know that whatever I order is going to taste exactly the same every single time. The service is great and the food never disappoints. It is definitely a must try if you are ever in Rockville Centr
Loved everything at Tum Thai Cuisine! I had the Thai fried rice, Pad Thai, Pla Ka Pow, and the Panang Curry… all so good. Super flavorful, fresh, and just the right amount of spice. Definitely going back again!
My best friend and I were in the neighborhood looking for a place to eat after getting a great massage in the area and this place was literally a block away and it looked really nice from Google images so we decided to check it out. To our surprise, it was one of the best that restaurants we’ve been to. The food quality was absolutely delicious and the service was amazing. We had the red curry and their pads see eew and both were made so well, we couldn’t get over how good it was. We are so glad we tried this place out and we can’t wait to come back again. Can’t recommend this place enough!
Great food, great service, and great memories! Me and a few other ended up coming here for a family birthday party, and this is Dede one restaurant I would want to come back and back again to. Every dish not only looked but tasted amazing, and we’re presented so nicely that I just fell in love. I had the best Thai iced coffee I have ever had here, and one of the best curries as well. The dessert with the little sparkler was so cute for a birthday, and we had the pleasure of sharing the space with another larger family celebrating another birthday, and you could really tell that they enjoyed both the food and the place as well. There are so many options when coming to food, and all of them just seemed so delicious that I had a hard time choosing. My experience was so wonderful and I would definitely not only come back, but bring others with me too
We came for a late dinner. We were glad they were able to accommodate us so close to closing time. We’re truly appreciative of that. Food is always so delicious here. Certainly a go to spot if you ever want satisfying Thai food. Very filling the portions are generous too. Staff is friendly, clean and intimate place. No complaints!
Love this spot so much been coming for years. Everything is amazing you really can’t go wrong. For starters, the thai dumplings are fantastic and the fried chicken wings are truly special. Beef pad see ew is my safe dish it’s always so good and thai iced tea is just simply fabulous.
I had a wonderful dinner at Tim Thai ! Everything was delicious I did a full course Meal. The service was awesome. My server was attentive and available. I can’t wait to return. Everything was delicious and fresh! Hot sweet basil chicken is what I ordered with extra veggies! Absolutely delicious!
People are friendly we don't have change for parking so i asked them and they change my money to coins, employees are friendly thats #1, they assist us specially i have a baby, service is amazing we didn't wait so long for our orders, they will give you a vegetable salad and soup for start thats why i will give them 5stars, food are amazing though the one i ordered is bit salty hope they can adjust that but still amazing and big serving, my husband will Rate you 5stars too. Overall experienced is amazing i love the toilet with big mirror and nice thick toilet paper🎀❤️so everything amazing
Hidden Gem: A Thai Culinary Experience This Thai restaurant is a true hidden gem! The moment you step inside, you're captivated by the stunning, sexy decor that creates a truly enchanting atmosphere. The attention to detail is impeccable, from the artisan plates to the beautifully presented dishes. The food is nothing short of exceptional. The flavors are authentically Thai, bursting with freshness and complexity. The duck rolls are a must-try, with perfectly cooked duck wrapped in crisp rolls. The portions are generous, and the desserts are a decadent way to end the meal. The service is impeccable. The staff is attentive and knowledgeable, ensuring that every guest has a memorable dining experience. It's no wonder this restaurant is a strong contender for an award. If you're willing to venture a bit outside the city, this Thai restaurant is absolutely worth the trip. It's a culinary experience that will leave you wanting more.
Ate here for lunch with some friends and loved it! The vibe and decor are beautiful and the dish ware especially are pieces I’d love to have in my collection. We all got a lunch special and a Thai iced tea. The Thai tea was tasted amazing and authentic. My friend loved the green curry and my other friend Salma thoroughly enjoyed her Thai fried rice. I had the pad se-ew and it was delectable! Would recommend to come here for a the lunch special which also comes with chicken Tom yum soup and a side salad dressed with peanut sauce.
This place was great. We went half an hour after opening and there must been a line outside or something because it was already starting to get full. Or maybe the food is just that good, either way, you can't go wrong here. Ambiance is nice, service was attentive, food and apps came out quick and presented neatly. Overall good experience.
Very good Thai food and one of our favorites in Rockville center. Great Pad see euw wide noodles with my favorite vegetarian dock. Whole snapper is delicious as is their Thia iced coffe. Fried rice also good. Not had their currys yet. It's a bit loud inside but casual with large crowds on weekends. Prices are average for the area. Varied menu will please most.
I love Thai food, so I'm picky about the flavors wherever I go. Tum Thai has definitely become our #1 place to go to for the reason that it has not disappointed! The food is consistently fresh and delicious.. If it is your first time, simply try the classic dishes such as Pad Thai, fried Calamari, Pineapple Fried rice, Massaman Curry, etc. Thai Iced tea. The Thai Saussage Fried Rice with mixed Seafood (Calamari, Squid, Shrimp, Scallops, Mussels) is bursting with flavor, not spicy but you may ask for hot spices and they'll give them to you on the side.. It may be a few dollars more but it's a hearty meal and worth it if you're into rice, sausage or seafood..and if you like these, then you will definitely like their other dishes when you go back. Update: Prices have increased dramatically since 3 years ago when I made the original review. Some of it increased Pre-Covid, which didn't hurt the wallet as much, but a lot of the dramatic increase happened during. The portions have not increased. They have not become more generous. The seating is still crowded. The service is still consistently great; the servers make an effort to know your name, but it's not like they have changed/improved with the prices. The food is great, but for the new prices, it doesn't make us step foot in here as often as we used to. I know Covid has hit hard, but it has hit everyone hard, small businesses, as well as us, the little people that keep them running. I don't agree that the answer is to charge their loyal customers more when they get packed just about almost every night, even now during a pandemic. The food is still good if you desire to go. That has not changed (nor improved). It still has my 5 stars. It's just not a place we frequently return to as we used to. The value does not match the current pricing. It's tough times for everybody, not just Thai.
A great place for an intimate dinner and good Thai food. The dishes were nicely prepared and was cooked with love. The decoration shows that they were trying to stand out from a typical restaurant look and feel. I had the fried rice and pad thai. Both were flavorful and came in a nice portion size.
The Thai Iced Tea was very different: refreshing and tasty. For starters, my boyfriend and I had the wings, fried dumplings and wontons. It was so delicious and flavorful. I ordered the crispy duck for my entree and I honestly didn’t like it. It was my first time trying duck and I guess I expected something different. If I ordered another dish, I believe I would’ve enjoyed it since everything else was very good.
I honestly love this place, the food is so fresh and the prices are reasonable. The decore of the place is so nice it’s a dark romantic atmosphere. The only down fall to this place is the size, the seating is very crowded and close together, other than that this is a great place to try. Oh and the Thai iced tea is amazing!!!!
Very pleasant experience here as we went before 6pm. The food was flavorful and they really visually make the dishes very pretty, but on the spicier side depending on what you get. The duck salad was great and had a little kick. The potato puffs were really delicious with the sweet cucumber accompaniment. The stuffed shrimp was just ok, nothing special in my opinion. The entrees were very tasty, the pork chops were flavorful and the shrimp was cooked well although slightly overdone for my taste. The coconut rice was amazing and I love the palette cleansers they give you. If you like spicy ask for the special sauces, they will make you cry! Overall great experience I just wish the tables and space was bigger, it's a little tight.
Nice place, the food came out quickly, good beers, and friendly waitress. I loaded up on a few different appitizers that did not disapoint and had a taste of the Tamarind Honey Duck which was cooked to perfection.
I always go to Tum Thai Cuisine for their lunch special, and it never disappoints. The meal comes with a soup, a salad, and a main dish, and I always choose their basil fried rice. The lunch special is absolutely worth the money—such a great portion and variety for the price. The service is always friendly and efficient, which makes the experience even better. I especially love the salad with the peanut dressing; it’s fresh, flavorful, and the perfect start to the meal. The basil fried rice is delicious every time—tasty, well-seasoned, and consistently satisfying. Overall, Tum Thai Cuisine offers amazing value and great flavors. It’s definitely one of my go-to spots for lunch.
This was a good dining experience. Even though I stuck to simplicity and got shrimp fried rice, it was very tasty. My friend got a whole fish that came with a side of rice. That fish was dee-to-the-licous!! The sauce that was poured over the fish complimented it well. It even made my fried taste even better. Appetizers were good. Had the spring roll and fried shrimp. Each came with sauce (shrimp had 2), but the orange sauce we got with the shrimp was the best.
PRETTY “GOOD” EXPERIENCE! I ate in a couple of Thai restaurants before and I have to say the food here was just okay and nothing overly crazy. The restaurant is pretty packed especially during the weekends and it took my family around 15 mins to be seated on a Saturday night. Parking was pretty hard to find despite the huge parking lot that was 5 mins away since the neighborhood is packed with restaurants. The seats and tables were pretty squished and crowded next to other customers. The atmosphere was very lively with dim lighting and cool decorations. The staff offered quick and friendly service. We ordered pad thai, yellow curry, red curry, squid, and satay beef. Overall, it was a nice experience but I wouldn’t necessarily come back and feel like I can get this food elsewhere with less hassle in terms of waiting, parking, and eating comfortably.
The food was..mediocre at best. The chicken and pork from lunch menu dishes are tough, which makes me think it's let over from yesterday. The shrimp rolls were delicious, as was the soup. I wouldn't come back. Fresh is always better
I went there for the first time with my husband for a lunch date. when I went in, there were about 4 other sets of people sitting. We looked at the menu, placed an order for two Thai iced teas, appetizers, two FULL portion orders and ordered one lunch special order just to try. The Thai iced tea came FAST, within about 3 mins. Two other sets of people came in and sat and they placed their orders. They were given drinks, appetizers and their food and we were sitting there still waiting for appetizers. It FINALLY came, I was STARVING, lol Im 7 months pregnant. Now, we sat for another half hour and the lunch special salad came for us to try which was pretty good! Now, the soup came, WITH HAIR IN IT! (Picture attached) I told the girl, she took some time to bring a new one which at this point, I didn't even want. Some people that came in after were finished eating and done. At this point, I had to add more meter to our car. Now, our food came, we were just ready to leave. We ate a little, paid our bill and left.
This is a decent restaurant. The way it’s decorated and designed is lovely. Very artsy. There store plays this traditional music, well, at least when I was there they did. It was calming and nice. The restaurant was clean and the staff were friendly. Two things that made me not want to go back are: 1. The parking - its not the greatest 2. The food - didn’t enjoy it one bit. I ordered drunken noodles for lunch, and barely ate my food. I wasn’t a huge fan of it. I’ll just say it’s more on the not likely to visit again side for me.
The service at Tum Thai Cuisine was top notch and if not for any other reason, I would go back for the service. The servers were attentive but not overly so. The atmosphere was calm and enticing. The food did not seem authentic. The wings were commercial wing that could have been purchased at restaurant depot that were pre-seasoned and served with a sauce that overwhelmed the pallet. I ordered a chocolate lava cake that seemed more like a brownie in taste and size. Someone in my party joked that I paid $14 for a muffin and a scoop of vanilla ice-cream 😂. I really enjoyed the green curry with shrimp. Someone ordered the fish and did not enjoy it as the fish was not seasoned well and the sauce was overly sweet. The fried calamari was also under- seasoned, but the dipping sauce made up for it. The dishes were beautifully displayed. The dishes were served quickly. I would probably go back and try different dishes. As per recommendation, I would say try it and see what you think because it wasn’t great, but it wasn’t terrible either.
I asked for the papaya salad to be Thai spicy and I didn’t get that. Felt lacking to me personally overall, and the stir fry as well as ingredients look and tasted more Chinese style to me which was also disappointing and honestly almost offensive to me because I’ve been to a place before who adds bell peppers to this dish which isn’t authentic at all. It’s their business so I can’t tell them how to make it how they do in Thailand. This is from someone who goes to Bangkok often. The place was about to close and the server was kind with nice atmosphere which is nice, but I’m disappointed that the food itself wasn’t authentic to me as other places I’ve been to in Ny for cheaper as well. If I give this place another chance in the future I hope I can enjoy the food fully, because if I was served this while dining in I would sent it back. I’m obviously frustrated since I was looking forward to this since I always pass by it.
O stars if I could! Half our order was missing. Took no responsibility and blamed it on uber.
