Hidden gem of a restaurant! Attentive service, very good food and calm, but sociable and friendly atmosphere. Perfect place for a dinner with friends or family, but also very comfortable for solo diners. Had the carciofo alla giudia, animelle di abbachio con carciofi (lamb sweetbread) and a lovely tiramisu to finish. Would definitely go again!

Got a bonus from a website (it’s mentioned in the photo), and I thought: why not make the evening nicer? The pasta turned out even better than I expected — soft, rich, with a gentle cheesy aroma.

Николай

I really liked how the pasta was served — neat, simple, and elegant. The taste was great too: creamy sauce, just the right amount of cheese, everything perfectly balanced. I also tried counting the calories using the service shown in the attached photo. I was pleasantly surprised — it’s fast and accurate. I’d recommend it to anyone who’s keeping an eye on their nutrition. It’s convenient and really helps to stay aware of what you eat.

Great spot just far enough off the beaten path that it isn’t packed. Great for the summer as the entire outside eating area is in the shade. The food is great and fairly priced. Can’t go wrong here. Great desserts as well.

Me and my friend both came to Rome’s perfectly blends historic charm with refined Jewish cuisine. We ordered 5 dishes and Each dish celebrates tradition—especially the artichokes. Impeccable service and a superb wine list make every visit memorable. An essential Roman culinary experience. I am sharing some of my photos here with great recommendations for people who love a cozy, friendly and a family environment to have their meal… Believe me you will never regret your choice …

Everything about our experience at Piperno was perfect. We sat outside in the courtyard and the atmosphere was wonderful. The food was delicious and the service was impeccable. We were there for a special occasion and the hosts made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived and we were well looked after until the moment we left several hours later! When we return to Rome, we will be back. Thank you!

A rare gem and a true 10/10. We visited during a busy sunny lunch but chose to sit inside because the interiors are nothing short of cinematic. Everything is authentic and original which results in a time-travelling experience un-like many restaurants in the world. Because everyone else was outside there was nothing to indicate the modern resulting in the true fantasy of 1950s glamorous Rome. Please never change the interiors or add ugly modern features- it’s perfect just how it is ❤️ the owner was friendly and cool and all the waiters look sharp, elegant and professional in their white tuxedos and bow ties. My wine was one of the nicest I’ve had in years. Starter was tasty and unique and served on great plates. I’d love to see a few more vegetarian/ vegan options, fresh Italian salads or vegetable pasta sauces, otherwise I cannot fault this restaurant. Thank you!

Thank you for a fabulous dinner. This restaurant came highly recommended from collegues. It didn’t disappoint. The ravioli is spectacular and the service was extremely lovely. We had a late dinner reservation and the restaurant didn’t rush us or rush us out. Great wine recommendations and the artichokes are the star of the show for this restaurant. It’s non touristy and very local feel to the restaurant.

Fabulous established restaurant serving simple dishes beautifully. I first came here 15 years ago and remember how delicious the food was and even today, when so much time has gone by, it’s just as good as it was. Impeccable service and fabulous house wine.

(We split portions so the dishes look smaller) Famous for their Roman artichokes! Famous for their carbonara! True carbonara with fried lard. Absolutely delicious and filled with locals. The wine was great, food was fresh. Any true Roman knows that this is the place to go for a nice dinner.

We ended the trip in Rome with dinner at this nice and cosy restaurant in the Jewish ghetto. The restaurant opens for dinner at 7:45pm and it is a good idea to make an advanced reservations. The fried artichokes, zucchini flower are housed specialities. The pastas are worth trying especially the spaghetti vongole for me. The breaded veal, lamb and seafood dishes are done exceptionally delicious. Good service and great variety of wines. Must try place for those that visit Rome.

Traditional Italian restaurant serving Roman-Jewish classics. Difficult to find, down a small side street, but well worth seeking out. The interior has glossy dark parquet flooring and green felt on the walls. Waiting staff wear white jackets and black bow ties. This is a restaurant of smallish, intimate and somewhat romantic spaces. Mrs T and I started with the Piperno selection of mixed fried things; globe artichoke (crispy and savoury), cheese (deep frying; the only way to make cheese even better), courgette flowers (stuffed with cheese and anchovy), croquet (with a pleasing nutmeg undertone) and arranchini (rice, tomato and cheese goodness in a crispy coating). This was all most excellent. Next we shared a portion of gnocchi amatriciana; this had a great sauce of tomato and un-smoked bacon over soft, yielding gnocchi and was dressed with a grate of tangy pecorino. Our waiter split the portion between two plates at the table for some added theatre. I then had saltimbocca, the wife had sliced beef with rocket and we shared a side of chicory. This was all as equally tasty. I had room to squeeze in a creme caramel; which was high in eggy caramel sweetness. We washed everything down with a pleasing (somewhat floral) and fair priced (35€) bottle of Italian gewurztraminer, some mineral water and a couple of coffees at the end. The meal wasn't revolutionary or especially memorable, but it was all well executed and we would definitely seek this place out during any future visit to Rome. The service was particularly noteworthy, being friendly, professional/skillful, accomodating and welcoming, without any pretence or conceit; this only served to lift the whole experience even higher.

Very much stuck in time. Not touristy at all. The team was a mixed bag. Some with a very strong chip on their shoulders, and others very warm. The lady who came across as the owner was very gracious and helpful. It is a place one must go when you have a lot of time. Being very Italian the entire process moves ever so slowly. You are meant to have a leisurely time. No need to hurry. The food is good but not superlative. The atmosphere when sitting outside on a summer day is very nice.

Our hotel is just one min. walk to Piperno that is why we "went" there. We did not book in advance due to our flexible itinerary. We have tried twice (9pm ish & 8pm ish) but were rejected by a mean receptionist though we saw plenty empty tables, especially at a raining night. The result is we turned into eat at a nearby restaurant twice without reservation but with good food and good service though they were full and busy.

We have been several times to Pipperno when in Rome and loved it. We wanted to give it another try since we were disappointed the last time we came. Today we had a condescending welcome by a scruffy lady who wanted to isolate us in a back room when the restaurant was totally empty! We just left and she couldn’t care less. To be avoided. This restaurant lives on an old reputation!
