Shinto Sushi Restaurant Rome Reviews
Stunning atmosphere with supreme crab sushi! After a lot of research, I found this sushi place on Google maps that looked good. I am a huge lover of sushi and eat it in every city I visit. It didn’t disappoint at all. I had: Mr. Crunchy Roll (with crab) - was 9.5/10, they nailed the taste. Highly recommended if you like crab sushi. Nagoya - 7.5/10, to be honest this is not the best eel sushi I ever ate but it wasn’t bad either. It was very decent but it lacked that eel spice, was a bit too gentle for my taste. Service is really good; waiters are attentive but don’t intrude on privacy. Atmosphere is VERY intimate, it’s dark inside and very romantic, you have a feeling it’s just you and your partner in a restaurant. Top notch decor. All in all, will be coming back here! Keep in mind that urumaki is at around 20€ per 6-8 pieces and nigiri is also around that so it’s not the cheapest option but it’s definitely worth it for me, great value for money taking into consideration it’s Rome.
It was very fancy inside and there were so many sushi options. We tried 6 rolls, all of them were fabulous. Our party of 4 were the only ones in the place until around 9pm. The atmosphere is great and the food was even better. Definitely give this place a try if you want a break from pasta!
Bar none the best Japanese fusion I’ve had. Phenomenal food (highly recommend the green therapy and crispy rice rolls, and the strawberry cheesecake), phenomenal atmosphere, and amazing service. It definitely isn’t cheap (expect to pay 60ish per person) but well worth the money spent

My son and I ate at Shinto on a Friday night and found the food and service top notch. We were greeted by a very nice and friendly young man who offered us a glass of Prosecco. He then help us ch…
The sushi is amazing. The wagu dumplings are a great start. The sashimi was some of the best we have had. Ending with the tempura banana was perfect. Now why not 5 stars? The service is the worst we have had in Rome. Tried asking for suggestions and got nothing. Waited for at least 30 minutes after meal to get the check. If you like the snooty high end vibe, then this is the place. The sushi was amazing.

It’s a glamorous place to be, not only for the food but for the bar as well. Cosy, relaxing and with good service. The chef is very creative. From vegan rolls to tuna and truffle. Sashimi was delic…
Don’t go here if you’re hungry on a budget. Portion sizes were a joke with the sushi rolls and I will definitely not be paying €18 for 8 pieces of sushi about as big as my curled up pinky finger. Service was also slow aslwell. Not recommended

I really do believe they made sushi with some other kind of rice. The yakisoba was to die for but most of the other dishes were pretty average.

Well decorated, located, but very much over priced, very very average food quality and taste ( same with all you can eat places, except presentation )
If you want to show off it is a good place, but if you want to try food and authentic Japanese food it is definitely not the place to go. The waiter was very nice and efficient but the food was below average sushi in Rome and very overpriced. A lot of artificial and invading flavors instead of giving space to the fish itself. Rice could be better and fish, too
Not sure where they learn how to prepare Japanese food but not even close : spicy food is placing sriracha sauce on top of everything: not the real thing . Not Japanese at all
Service was very bad. Waiters (two of them) kept forgetting orders - we had to keep asking for the same items. Food was late (so late that we couldn’t order dessert because the kitchen closed by the time we received our last plate - although the waiter gave us the dessert menu only to tell us that we can’t order after we made our choice…) The place smelled like fish. The food was not great - very overpriced for what it is. Absolutely do not recommend.
I was told this was one of the best sushis in Rome. I regret to say that I was disappointed. The fish and sushi combination was low quality: the flavour of the different dishes weren't distinctive, some of the dishes had absolutely no character and poorly presented (the sashimi dish was three needlessly chunky cubes wrapped in some sort of cucumber: terrible combination, hard to eat, literally no flavour). The service wasn't great either: they forgot out coke and the waiter simply acted like he couldn't care less about us. I've tried high end sushis all around the world and this definitely does not live up to the profile that they want to be. I would not recommend.
Almost none of the waiters spoke English. So the staff argued a little who should wait upon us. Finally one of them decided he wanted to practice his English. The menu was only to be scanned as a QR-code at the table and no dish was explained in English. No paper menu to look at. You have to be familiar with the Japanese kitchen to understand the content and names of the dishes. Quite expensive too. We left without ordering anything. The two young couples in our company stayed to give it a go. The waiter kept forgetting them when they wanted something to drink. The sushis were fine though because they knew what to order. Very loud techno music, so it was hard to have a conversation. We will never come back again.
