Pok-E-Jo’s Smokehouse Round Rock Reviews
Food is great and staff is very good. Nice positive atmosphere with a mainstay Austin BBQ restaurant.
First time coming here for lunch and I loved it. As soon as I walked in and smelled thre bbq I knew I was going to like it. The food is good and staff was really nice.
I typically hit up the location in North Austin but this place is definitely more in the vein of what I prefer. Local vibe, chill employees, and I think the food is better. Great BBQ for the price and environment.
Disclaimer!!! If you have never been to this Pok-e-Jo’s you are missing out. We have come here a lot of times and everyone of our visits never have disappointed us. The managers are Sherman and Patt and there is Shayla and Kai. They are all so friendly helpful and we love this Pok-e-Jo’s. We have been visiting here since 2021 and I was surprised I hadn’t reviewed this place because I love it but I was glad I waited. Now I am so happy I visited Pok-e-Jo’s today. So I decided my husband pick our place for lunch today and he decided we come here. I am a vegetarian and whenever I come in I eat a baked potato (which is delicious) along with two sides and a toast. But today When we came in they said they ran out of potatoes. So we decided we come back. I just casually mentioned how I loved the potatoes here and how I come here exclusively for it and the manager Sherman said they had some cooking and went inside to check for the potatoes. And he came back with two yummy potatoes. I was so happy. Shayla made my potatoes and she made sure they were cut with a knife that hadn’t touched meat. It was so sweet. The manager also asked me to try their new cucumber salad that they just introduced and it was really good. So I had a baked potato with cheese butter and sour cream along with cucumber salad and coleslaw(my all time favorite) My husband Ofcourse who loves their turkey had a 2 meat plate with green bean casserole and potato salad. My husband loves it here. This was such a good lunch today and I met such kind people. It made my day. We definitely will come back soon and also recommend to all family and friends. So if you eat meat they have amazing barbecue. If you are a vegetarian they have baked potato and amazing sides. And they also give you toast which is really good. So definitely visit.
Great vibes, patience was great while we decided on what we wanted. Food is delicious. Definitely the spot I wish I had known about other than this other BBQ place. Low key casual. I would have taken a photo of the food I got but once again, I got hungry and ate and wasn't thinking and then I was caught up on how good it was 😭 thank you! 10/10 recommend.
We went to PoK-e-Jo's for a food tasting for our upcoming wedding. The food and service were amazing! We worked with Mona, her customer service was incredible! Extremely professional, communication was great, and she was very pleasant to work with both via email and in person! We tried a bunch of stuff, like chips, salsa, guacamole, queso, pineapple salsa, and black bean salsa. All of it was really good. We also had the grilled cheese (both the basic and the brisket version), which were both great. For the meats, we had chicken, brisket, ribs, sausage, and turkey. My favorites were the ribs, brisket, and sausage. We also tried all the sides! The best were the potato salad and mac and cheese. I highly recommend this place!
Today's lunch spot: PoK-e-Jo's! I usually get the two meat plate with brisket that comes with two sides and a Texas toast; this time, I selected pork ribs as my 2nd meat, green beans casserole and broccoli with cheese. As usual, the meat was tender and delicious, the staff were helpful and friendly. While dining, I also got the chance to compare the interior decoration of this location with other PoK-e-Jo's... I got to admit the ceiling was definitely very Texan. 😉 A great place to dine with a relaxing atmosphere. Highly recommended. 👍🏼
Delicious pork ribs, the best smoked chicken i ever had that cooked to perfection, juicy snd tender alike. Well kept no nonsense ambience located in a prime location. Courteous staff, self service, excellent food. This was my second time here and will visit again. Dont miss their pickled cucumber.!
Pok-e-Jo's has excellent BBQ meats. Went for lunch. I had a brisket sandwich. loved it. Tastey, and smoked perfectly Sauce was perfect as well. The sandwhich was $12. 5 dollars more gives you a combo with a large fountain drink and a small container of a side. price of the combo clearly is the profit maker. There are no plates. served on metal tray with a paper placed on it ... my friend got pulled pork plate (no bun) and the pork was just put on the paper. so it can be a little jarring if you are not prepared for it. sides are put in small cardboard boats. So it feels very "take out" even if eating in. The atmosphere is punchy. It feels very "Texas". music and decor immersed in the southern BBQ feel. I would return to try other dishes. Parking is a plaza parking lot. Handicap accessible. there is a handicap parking g spot right outside the restaurant.
Really pretty good BBQ. All the meats and a nice selection of sides. And fresh Texas Toast instead of plain old bread is wonderful. There's a small fixings bar with 2 kinds of onions, 2 kinds of pickles, and jalapenos. The banana pudding kind of looks like gravy but was quite tasty. They also have peach cobbler.
Brisket was dry, the side of tomatoes & cucumbers were just that. No salt or vinegar, tiny portion. Peach cobbler was mostly crust, very little peach, LOTS of cinnamon. The “Cherry pie” was a big piece of cake, with a thin topping of gelatin like cherry. Terrible.
Whenever I’m in Central Texas, I stop for some barbecue. I have never had this place before so I wanted to give it a try. It is not bad barbecue but it’s not thebest. If you’re looking for a quick middle of the road type barbecue spot you found a place. But if you’re looking for an amazing pitmaster, true Texas barbecue smokehouse, They miss the mark. The people were great and very pleasant and respectful. maybe it was a bad day or not. But one must remember that barbecue must be fresh and not have a leftover taste to it.
The brisket was tender and the portion size was good, but I found everything I ate -- brisket, green beans, and mac and cheese -- bland. Also, the sweet tea was watered down. I estimate that I paid maybe 10% less here than I would have paid at a non-chain bbq place in the area for the food I got, but the value was A LOT lower. My experience was ok, but I'd rather pay a tiny bit more for much better food.
This restaurants kitchen is dirty as hell. A sign of lazy management and working staff. Looking at the way they proudly have stains on the walls tells me a lot about the food quality and it was just as bad.
