Recaudo San Andrés Cholula Reviews
Amazing vegetarian food graciously served in a beautiful outdoor setting like an oasis in the city
Some of the best vegetarian food I’ve had anywhere. The freshness and creativity of the dishes were top rate. Was in a large group and tasted many dishes, all good.
Lovely hidden gem with a beautiful courtyard. We had 2 omelettes and the salads were fresh and delicious. Cafe Americano was served hot and fresh. Nice place for breakfast
Wonderful restaurant in lovely San Andreas Cholula, Mexico. Highly recommend and will definitely return! We had the chilaquiles with salsa rojo (habanero), salsa verde (serrano), and also tacos de chícharo. Also recommend the kombucha, Hierbabuena infusion, and B-Juice. Their cookies were yummy too!
Best vegan food by far. Not as trashy junk food that many serve. Brunch and lunch are great. Healthy Vegano is hard to find.
Super, super delicious!!! My cousin suggested we go and she said the food was 'muy rico' but I wasn't actually expecting it to be as wonderful as it was! I savored every bite!!
It was a very nice place for breakfast. The toastados with Goat Cheese and Eggs are very delicious. All ingredients are locally sourced and organic. They even tell you how far away from the restaurant they source their products. Very recommended
Lovely spot for excellent food. Great view of the pyramid and church built upon it. Lavender intensive entrance. Very Good value. After exploring ruins of a massive Cholutec pyramid (it's base is about 400m x 400m) and the catholic church built at its apex...our hosts took us to Recaudo. We all ordered the daily meal (which is different every day!), prepared with produce from local suppliers, which included an agua fresca (I had the vanilla papaya), a rich tomato soup with some artisanal bread, a substantial chick pea burger (the patty of which reminded me favourably of a Caribbean double), a side of spicy potatoes and a chocolate swirl cookie for $60 mxn.
This is a must for any vegetarian/vegan tourist. Food is exquisite where all the menu is vegetarian and in some cases vegan. An interesting aspect is that their menu changes according to the seasons since they use the ingredients available for the crops grown with a local dealer. For certain choices you can add chicken or meat (for those who like the food but aren't necessarily veggie). Price is reasonable and as plus you have an awesome view of the Cholula pyramid.
Since you walk in you'll be received by a warming and cozy decoration. The staff if very effective and friendly making you feel very comfortable. I was here for breakfast and the Chilaquiles where jus awesome. (red Chilaquiles are very ) Also the huevos cazuela are an excellent option, with a very rich flavoured salsa and goat cheese. Also the cinnamon roll is out of this world, great for after your Chilaquiles. Enjoy
TLDR: A beautiful courtyard location with good service but the food was a major dissapointment. We were intrigued by the many good recommendations for breakfast at Recaudo, but there were very few lunch reviews except for one discussing "worms in food" and another with a brief "...bad". To our knowledge, there were no worms in our food but the food definitely fell into the category of underwhelming (except for the kombucha). We tried the following four items 1.) Kombucha: home-brewed and flavorful but definitely over-priced for the location. 2.) Hummus with pita chips: this was a pile of blended garbanzo beans with no evidence of tahini, olive oil or other seasoning. The chips were flavorless 3.) Croquettas: unusual in consistency and bland in flavor. Would not eat again. 3.) Potatoes three ways: new potatoes which were well cooked with three toppings, all of which saddened my taste buds. In summary, the location was beautiful, with reasonble service but the lunch food was a tremendous dissapointment. This only applies to lunch as we did not try any breakfast items.
Worst food I ate in Mexico, by far. Vegan or vegetarians don't go! No English menu, no English speaking waiter. Also they didn't care if we left the plate full on the table. Total disgrace!!!
English follows. Todo terrible, jugos aguados, sopa aguada, papas y garbanzos crudos. Y cuando uno se queja se hacen los desentendidos. Precios altos. Fatal experiencia, salimos de mal humor. Everything was pretty darn awful, watered down "juices", tasteless broth, raw potatoes and chick peas. Worst of all, when you call their attention on the bad food, they act as if they don't understand. Plus, prices much higher than expected. Ruins your day.
