Antlers Lodge San Antonio Reviews
I couldn’t wait for Antlers Lodge to reopen, and it did not disappoint! My husband, our friends, and I went there for our New Year’s Eve dinner, and it was absolutely amazing. The elk steak was definitely something different and so worth trying! To top it all off, we were treated to free champagne to celebrate the New Year, which made the night even more special. So thankful for the wonderful food, service, and experience. Can’t wait to go back!
Well, once again,, they didn't disappoint. My husband and I had our 25th anniversary dinner here. The staff was incredibly sweet. They were all so nice. Juan happened to be our main server again. He is just the nicest, sweetest, and very funny. We hope he is our server again the next time we go. I had the salmon and I have to say, that was the best salmon skin I have EVER had. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his steak. The brussel sprouts and mac & cheese were delicious!!!! Oh man, the mango passion cheesecake was the perfect end to a very filling meal. P.S. The charcuterie board starter is not to be passed up. Its amazing, especially with the honeycomb! Wow, just wow! The staff was friendly and the food was amazing. My husband and I enjoyed our date night here. We never felt rushed and ended up spending 2 hours there, just enjoying our time and the delicious food. The strawberry cheesecake was a great end to our yummy dinner.
Fantastic! My husband and I came here on a recent staycation to the resort. The atmosphere in the restaurant is very nice and upscale; but this is Texas and no need for pretense. In other words, you don't have to wear a ballgown or tuxedo! Named for the stunning chandelier made from thousands of naturally shed antlers - this thing is gorgeous! I couldn't stop looking at it! The food did not disappoint either. I don't usually order cocktails, but Happiness intrigued me so much I had to try it - it was simply delicious! Husband had Creekside and we both loved it as well. I had the ribeye cap which was cooked to a perfect MR, seasoned just right, and a side of chimichurri sauce. Hubby had the filet, also cooked perfectly. Sides were good, nothing to write home about. For dessert we had the pistachio cake, which was like super dense and rustic pound cake. Unique and tasty. We will go back for the upscale but laidback atmosphere, drinks, and ribeye cap!
This is the gem of the HyattRegency. Excellent steakhouse with delicious wild game options . Great creative bartending. An adorable kids tasting menu. Excellent service and experience. I did the filet and elk to try. Both were delicious, elk was so clean and lean extremely delicious chili coffee seasoning, the creamed corn soup was amazing. I loved our meal here. Would absolutely recommend.
Dinner was excellent!! The salmon was cooked perfectly and we had some mashed potatoes and Macaroni and cheese that was delicious. The crab cakes were so tasty with that sauce on top yummy!! My husband had the potato soup which was also very good. Our server Tai was amazing. Would recommend this place for couples and groups.
Wonderful experience. Greeted kindly, sat at the best table in the house due to a special occasion. The manager, Anthony, was so kind & friendly. Our server was great & we were checked on often. Due to our special occasion we were treated with a fantastic bottle of champagne. Wife took the rib, it was delectable. I had the new York strip & was in awe of the crisp outside & tender & juicy inside. The puréed potatoes were my favorite. Absolutely loved everything & the experience.
Amazing. I ordered the chicken thinking it would be ordinary, but it was excellent. Super moist and the cracking crispy skin was delectable. We also had a side if mushrooms that were really good, not too soft, and flavorful. We ordered the meat balls and the crab cakes, both were delicious, but the crab cakes with the saffron were best. The lamb gnocchi was good, but not the best thing we ordered, felt like it was missing a depth of flavor.
Awesome experience. Went for the first time due to steak cravings. The grilled octopus was amazing. It was tender and well seasoned. The steaks were cooked and seasoned properly. The best thing was the loaded baked potato! It's not ok the menu so make sure to ask for it. Our server was Thai and she was sweet and attentative. Don't be afraid of the price. They were definitely worth it. Will definitely come back!
My husband and I had dinner here for our 20 year wedding anniversary and everything was wonderful. The staff even put faux rose petals on our table. Real petals would have been nicer but it was still a very thoughtful gesture. The food was delicious and my husband loved the smoked old fashioned and his steak. I had the osso bucco and a pomegranate martini. Then espresso martinis and crème brûlée for dessert. We had a great time.
Don't be scared of the price! The food is amazing, the atmosphere is wonderful and the staff is fantastic. My kids are picky about their lemonade, so we asked to try it since it was made in house. They didn't like it. We told them we were used to a more sour lemonade. The server came back and said try this... it was perfect. That was just the beginning of this flawless dining experience. I will recommend this place to all and everyone! The desert tree is well worth the experience too.
Outstanding service, drinks, and food. A nice place to dress up to enjoy. Husband said his steak was the best he ever had. Charcuterie board with elk and lamb was a great started along with Bison meatballs. The Berkshire pork chops and special of the night Halibut were excellent. We added garlic mashed potatoes and roasted brussel sprouts for the table, couldn't finish all the sides. Highly recommend for a special occasion or celebration!
I absolutely loved this place. I will say the pricing on some of the plates are a little more than your typical restaurant but everything was delicious. I purchased a salad and added chicken, the flavor on the chicken was so savory. I also got a key lime pie drink and it was so good! It was about about $60 for the salad, drink and tip. Would return!
If you are looking for a nice dining experience with quality service and delicious diverse options of courses, then the Antlers Lodge will exceed your expectations. The service is extremely pleasant, and the most notable difference is that every staff member is attentive to your needs and request. Very friendly and accommodating staff. I highly recommend the calamari as an appetizer, which is very delicious, and my ribeye was cooked to perfection.
We went for restaurant weeks and felt like we discovered a hidden gem! The atmosphere and service are lovely. The wait staff took great care of us and the food was delicious. I wish that the items from the restaurant weeks menu were on the regular menu because they were delightful. It's so nice to find such a lovely restaurant without all the traffic and parking issues of going downtown. The restaurant validates your hotel parking, so parking is private, convenient, and free. This place was a breath of fresh air! We agreed we'd love to come back to try the rest of their menu and they gave us a frequent diner's card for locals, so we are looking forward to enjoying Antlers Lodge again.
A great dinner starts with excellent service, on this night it was Regina. Great and honest recommendations and timely service even with multiple tables under her care. The filet was n 8oz cooked medium and was the best I have had in as many years. Nice and juicy throughout, consistent temperature and each bite very consistent. The Brussels sprouts were excellent as well as the dinner rolls. Had the toffee cake and ice cream to top off an excellent meal.
Such a true gem of a restaurant, that probably does not get the recognition and patronage of the locals due to its being part of the Hill Country Resort. My wife and I have been coming here since 1991 and I commend you all for maintaining your high standards in everything you do, from the food to the service, to the décor, all first rate, top notch through the years. Looking forward to stopping by in December for my wife's birthday! Edit: Just now getting the time to write a follow-up review. Had a wonderful time and another great experience at Antler's Lodge in December 2023. Looking forward to a return visit in April this year when I am home once again in Texas.
Great food. It’s an open room so it gets extremely loud. Service is usually very good, not always. The venison is amazing!!
Went for a late New year Eve dinner food was awesome. Our table had a view of the bartender Ryan. He made these great toast glass for all the kids. He was fantastic. Our twin girls were so delighted. Ryan was definitely a shining spot light for all the kids there.
Excellent food. Very creative menu and nice selection of wine. The atmosphere is quiet and romantic. The restaurant looks like an old stately Texas ranch house, including a front porch with rockers. Not a stuffy place, but very nice. Everything I have tried here is very good. Love the steaks. They have a selection of game meats on the menu as well. Special occasions should be celebrated here!
I recommend reservations. In my notes to the restaurant, I notified them I had a handicap guest. The restaurant was prepared for us and had a table ready to be wheelchair accessible.
Jose, the server was terrific. My wife's filet, beautiful aged, cooked to perfection. My chop almost melted in my mouth. One of the fine dining experiences in recent memory. AND it was good to see the manager interact with the guests, not just stand around.
This is a beautiful place. Everyone working there was very kind and professional. The food provided was very good. We had empanadas, charcuterie board, key lime mini pies, and blueberry puddings. It is five star worthy. I didn't have my phone to take photos, but it was a nice presentation.
Totally worth the price, everything we had was delicious, with the exception of the Devil's River old fashioned. The rest of our cocktails were some of the best our group has ever enjoyed.
We’ve been there 4 times and had different meals each time. The food is amazing but I’m afraid we can get amazing food other places. The reason we continue to go here is a waiter that we request each time we come. His name is Juan. An amazing individual who is a master at his craft that provides an amazing experience. If you go the food is great. My recommendation is to ask for Juan. You’ll be happy you did
The scallops seemed a smidge undercooked but the rest of the meal was excellent. My wife absolutely loved the willow tree desert and it even delighted nearby guests. Or server was a master of attending to us; never too present and never too far away.
What a renovation! Bright and airy and the staff was fabulous. Special thanks to our server (Aylissa) and the bartender who both took fabulous care of us. We tried the Sweet Potato and Goat Cheese appetizer and it was astonishing. We also had a fabulous roasted squash and the winner of the meal was their over the top Scallops which just melted in your mouth. Finished it off with the Raspberry Oreo Tart which was fabulous. But the shocker was the Pineapple Rum Baba which was a flavor explosion in your mouth. I took one bite and didn't want to share with my husband, to just cover the bowl with my hand and have a private moment with "my precious!" Try it out, you won't be disappointed, amazing food with amazing service.
The food was delicious, and the service was excellent. It was really quiet when we got there, but as the evening went on, the volume went up. However, it never got so loud that you couldn't have a conversation with someone sitting across from you.
I've never been to this place before, but my first time is unwordable. The experience was awesome. I wish I could give this 10 out 10 stars. The food was phenomenal. I highly recommend the bison and ribeye. This place made me feel like I was with family. Fireplace, they put the napkins on your lap, and there are tons of options for drinks and steak. There was a plate that had 3 different meats on it. Including deer. But sadly, the atmosphere was alright. The menus had a yellow splot around the edges, which looked like water damage. It was a bit dirty, and the lighting did not compliment nighttime. It was more bright than dark, which didn't feel nice. But the decor made it feel like a Victorian home. It was expensive, up to 50 to 100 per person. I recommend the mashed potatoes, sprouts, and bison.
We dined at Antlers Lodge for a family dinner. They were able to accommodate my party of 12 by reservation. The service was excellent. The menu was amazing and offered options different from the tourist restaurants in the area. It is worth the drive out of San Antonio to see the property and enjoy a special meal.
Just wanted to say how great of an experience it was to celebrate our 20 year anniversary at Antlers. Big thanks to Alyssa for taking care of us she was amazing! We can’t say enough about Ryan either! We haven’t seen him in a few years and it was , as always, great to see him. Ryan always makes us feel like family and The Hyatt Hill Country is lucky to have him. The reason we come back year after year is because of the great staff you have!!
Attended a Cyber Security presentation and was pleasantly surprised with an outstanding meal. The staff was friendly and facilitated the evening without any complications. Would highly recommend this location for any group events.
Great dinner Filet Mignon was cooked perfectly! The side orders of asparagus and macaroni were wonderful. Our server was Alyssa and we enjoyed talking to her she was great!
Not a single place better.. THAI (FEMALE WAITRESS) IS THE BEST THE. I been here 7 times and requested her every single time
Had my annual Christmas dinner with my wife at Antlers Lodge. Everyone from the hostess to the server were so welcoming. Wife had the filet mignon, I had the sampler of elk, bison and antelope. Ended with the chocolate dome. Food was 5/5. We will be back.
Jacob at check in was amazing. We had some challenges and he stepped up to the plate above and beyond what could be expected. The experience was great from start to finish and I really enjoyed the peppercorn on the NY Strip. We came back a 2nd night in a row not only for the menu but service. Make reservations! They book up and it’s worth the visit. PSA, I do recommend nicer attire and behavior as well. They did accommodate guests who came in very casual. It just didn’t add to the ambiance.
The bride and I just visited this restaurant last night, and I cannot say enough. The staff there was over the top courteous and made the experience second to none. You could tell they enjoy their jobs and want you to enjoy yourselves. The food...I have no words. Everything from the appetizer to our steaks were AMAZING. I am salivating while writing this review and thinking about it. It was plated very well and cooked perfectly. It was hands down one of the best steaks I ever had. The beer was chilled just right, and my wife thoroughly enjoyed her cocktails. While the price is a little higher, it is worth every penny. I was able to speak with the manager, Mr. Shane Tiller and cannot say enough about him and his staff. This is going to become a regular spot for the wife and I. Keep up the great work everyone!
We loved that there was a special price fixe menu for the kids that wasn't just chicken tenders/hamburgers, etc. With just that alone, the kids knew this was a special, "fancy" place where they had to behave. We all ended up having a lovely meal. Everything cooked to perfection.
If you're staying here this is a really great "fancy" option for one of your nights. If you're just rolling in $$ then come here every night! We had antelope, bison and elk. I was fully expecting the meats not to be prepared properly but was PLEASANTLY surprised as they NAILED the prep. So good. Do yourself and your family a favor and eat here & get the crème brûlée at the end, you won't be disappointed.
I went there for a Christmas dinner they provided, and the food, service, and drinks were amazing. Their mixologist knows his stuff, and the chefs really know how to cook a delish New York Strip. Thanks for the amazing experience. Cant wait to come back again.
Excellent service at this upscale steakhouse that serves exotic meats, along with what you would expect at a steakhouse. My tomahawk pork chop was excellent. The broccolini was delicious and the macaroni and cheese looked really good, but not on my okay to eat list. Two of the others with me had the filet, which they said was delicious. Nice wine menu. Great looking bread, although I can’t have that either, the others enjoyed it.
Our server, Antonio, was exceptionally knowledgeable about the food items on the menus and very well-versed in finding allergen-friendly alternatives or altering the meal to be allergen-friendly. The food was exceptional, even being gluten and dairy-free, well proportioned, and the chefs' expertise showed. The service and allergen-friendly knowledge shown was a breath of fresh air.
"Orlando was very helpful. We trusted his expertise in selecting our menu items. Delicious steaks and excellent service."
The food, from appetizers to entrees to dessert was a culinary experience of excellence. Best of all, however, was the over and above efforts of our server Tai and the rest of the staff to make our 50th wedding anniversary a memorable and delightful occasion.
Gabriella (Gabby) was absolutely amazing! Every recommendation she made from wine to appetizer to entrees and finishing with dessert was perfection. Great attention to detail and knowing the menu, fun personality and took amazing care. Hot Cajun Dip was good but needed more break to start as it's a bit thinner but was delish. The sweet cream butter with the bread service could have been my dessert. The pineapple cheesecake was the perfect serving size but crust couldn't be broken with a spoon. The cherry dessert was so unique and gorgeous as well as delicious.
Everything about this restaurant is amazing! I’ve never had better food from the appetizer to my main (Buffalo steak). I loved the big half circle booths and the antler chandelier. It didn’t hurt that we dined with my new besties Kathy and Karen!
We went on our anniversary and were not disappointed. Our food server Ryan made sure we had a dinning experience to remember. The meal was unforgettable and we'll definitely be returning soon.
We were staying at Hyatt Hill Country this past week and enjoyed this restaurant a couple nights. It was fabulous and a special shoutout to our waitress Regina! We ordered steaks and they were cooked and seasoned just right! Chocolate cake 🩷✅
Great service, very unique menu. Food was amazing from beginning to end. The best charcuterie board, and the game trio was a perfect way to try different steaks with full flavors. I loved it!
My wife and I had dinner at Antlers Lodge and were absolutely blown away. We came in with reservations and dressed for a nice dinner, expecting good service — but what we got was extraordinary. The staff was incredibly warm and welcoming from the moment we walked in. They even seated us by the fireplace because Katy wanted to stay warm — and yes, it’s colder in Texas than it seems! The meal itself was unforgettable. The warm bread was delicious, the Cajun seafood dip was out of this world, and our drinks were perfect. I ordered a bourbon, Katy had a cocktail, and for entrées we had the bone-in ribeye and the filet — both cooked perfectly. But what made the night truly special was the way the staff went above and beyond. It wasn’t a birthday, anniversary, or anything fancy — just a simple weekend getaway at the Hyatt. Yet they made it feel magical. This is a place we’ll remember for a long time. Highly recommend.
The food was delicious, and the service was excellent. It was really quiet when we got there, but as the evening went on, the volume went up. However, it never got so loud that you couldn't have a conversation with someone sitting across from you. Excellent food, delicious and fresh elk.
Got the mixed grill.. the potatoes were good but id prefer baby potatoes that are sauteed in butter over crispy dried out ones. Just a recommendation. Wife did not like the parsnips in the pot pie.. other than that everything was excellent from the drinks to the service!
My experience was great. The service was great. The food was delicious. But $10 for a serving of mashed potatoes is over priced, as is everything on that menu. Although I must admit, I will likely return for those wild mushrooms and sauces. Views were great too. Also of note (but no star deducted) is that I was directed by gate guard to park in the "north" parking lot and had to walk quite a distance (for a disabled vet anyway; I'm guessing we'll over a quarter mile) to the restaurant.
Wasn't too busy but was pretty slow. Beyond that food was excellent
My Old fashioned was not good. Filet was meh. It wasn’t bad but there’s a lot better steaks out there. It wasn’t worth the hefty price. Service was slow. We were sat down with the last guest’s tab in front of us for 10 minutes before someone greeted us to get drinks and take away tab. It wasn’t busy at all. I was only disappointed due to my standards being pretty high for a resort’s high end restaurant. The one at La Cantera blew this one away as that one was amazing.
I caveat my review by saying the resort off season had just begun. The restaurant was empty, so the atmosphere was also empty. The servers were awesome. The menu was diverse and our entrees and sides were gorgeous, although it was under seasoned.
The facilities were really beautiful however it was difficult to get to. Talking about the food. It was over all well cooked and good but it lacked seasoning or really just salt. It would have brought out the flavor much nicer in all of the dishes. That was our consensus, nice but needed salt.
Pretty restaurant. We’ve been here before- still slow service. Food was ok, but not very warm. Looked like they were in the weeds but the restaurant wasn’t full. Short on staff maybe? Wayyyyy too expensive for the amt of food and lack of service. Hope they get it right bc it’s a beautiful place.
Service was just okay, but our waitress didn't know for sure what had my allergens in which dishes. Which surprised us because making reservations asked just that. They also were not great at communicating what was happening. We had two other servers help our server with basic tasks, such as delviering bread, opening wine, and refilling wine and water. We waited well over 45 minutes for our entrees, which we ordered 4 types of steak. The meat trio platter came out with three different temps, and my strip hadn't had the fat rendered. They all tasted great, so we really didn't want to wait for them to be refired. As of now, minimalistic remodel, tables and chairs were nice and yet it was very very loud, as in cafeteria loud. They should have installed sound panels during the remodel. My husband and I sat at a two top and could barely hear each other because of the acoustics. The manager did come over and ask about the issues which he found helpful to relay to the staff. At the end of the meal we were given a box of truffles which contained my allergen. May go back if they get their issues resolved. (Ps forgot to mention sound issues to manager as I was more focused on relaying the food issues.)
Well, I guess if I had money to BURN and I needed to give away a big pile of it .. I’d go back to this restaurant. I’m honestly not sure how they justify $65 for a steak with no sides. The roasted chicken option was just ok … the sides were underwhelming. We didn’t dislike it in any way (the venue is beautiful and the service was fine) .. but the price gouging is so real.
There was good and bad, but won't be going back there. For the price and what this place is trying to be, it was too loud. I saw other reviews complaining of this as well. The table next to us had two kids, bother under 2 and one watching an iPad on full blast. For the amount of money you spend when coming here you hope to be able to enjoy dinner, and not have battle to talk louder than the table next to you. Food was pretty good and service was excellent. If you are looking to go on a nice date with good ambiance, look elsewhere.
The presentation of the salad was good, the salad was nice and fresh. I ordered Salmon which was very delicious. However I ordered mac n cheese which was not good. The pasta was hard not fully cooked, and I didn't see or taste any cheese. It was more like a butter sauce on the pasta. However the server was very friendly and attentive. I would definitely go back but wouldn't order the mac n cheese.
We went here on a Monday evening, we waited 2 hours for our main courses. One was not edible and was sent back twice before finally giving up. This was a horrible experience, for some reason they are very fond of black pepper and even after asking to not use pepper, it was ignored. Worst bison steak ever, never going back.
For the price of the food, the service was not commensurate and the food was nice but not so out-of-this world that it was worth it. Our server berated us for ordering a drink from anyone other than her (because she wasn’t around a lot) and she never refilled our wine. To top it off, they charged us $21 for parking because no one at the restaurant bothered to tell us to validate our parking. Not worth it. Would not go back.
Food looks great at those tables that have it. Operations are just dismal. 2/3 of the people around me are waiting for their order and Im already here for 45 minutes.
My family was eating dinner at this restaurant and we finished around 6:35 PM, but the kids dinner included dessert. Finally someone came to the table after 7 PM. The kids ate the dessert, but nobody came back, so my wife and kids left. It took until 7:40 PM for someone to come to the table. Maybe I should have gone to the front, but we had a $400 dinner and we were expecting good service. At the end of the meal, the server knew there was an issue and offered a 20% discount. He informed me that the Director of all Hyatt hotels was there, so he was busy. As a CEO of a business I would be appalled if any of my coworkers cared more about me than actual customers. I think that a priority shift is in place .if anyone wants to eat here, the food was pretty good, I’m just bitter at my unique experience.
It's fine dining if you've never had fine dining before. Steakhouse prices but Salt grass level steaks.
The attention to detail fell way down for Thanksgiving Day. The size of the appetizer and dessert was so tiny. Have been dining here for over 10 years for birthdays, etc. The plating for our main course was very sloppy with a dap of sauce on one piece of pork. The resort itself is a disaster due to construction. The lobby is a bare floor with a piece of equipment parked in front of a fireplace. Holiday decorations in lobby are zero! Very sadly, we may not return.
Our $340 ($260 tab for two, $80 cash gratuity) Birthday Celebration was ruined by a loud, obnoxious, inconsiderate booth of four women who insisted upon cackling & shouting like hyenas incessantly for two hours (from 40+ feet away). Despite complaints from myself and at least one other group of guests, the front-of-house manager did nothing to remedy the situation. Any/every other fine dining manager would have issued one polite (yet stern) warning that would have followed-up with escorting-out by hotel security (in this instance) if not heeded. First and Last Visit.
We had dinner at Antler's on the evening of December 27th. While the dinner itself seemed uneventful and the service was excellent, about 4 hours after dinner I came down with the worst case of violent food poisoning that I've ever experienced. I'll spare readers the details but it wasn't pretty. It is now 4 days later and I still haven't fully recovered. We had to cut our trip to San Antonio short because I was so sick. I called the restaurant to report this. I spoke with an operator, a front desk employee and then an F&B manager. I was told only that they'd let the chef know. I have received no further outreach from the restaurant or resort as of now. I know food poisoning can be attributable to both the food itself or poor food handling but I suspect that it was the Nilgai tenderloin that I had for my entrée. I also had Brussel sprouts and a wedge salad. Everyone who eats out knows that food poisoning is a risk. This is the worst case I've ever had and I will not dine at Antler's Lodge again. And the fact that no one at the restaurant or hotel has followed up is a further indication of a lack of concern for food safety. Dine at your own risk.
Quite possibly the worst fine dining meal I have had in a long time. The food was pretty good; but the service and ambiance leave a lot to be desired. The ambiance is a slightly up class golf course dining room. No table cloths, bare wood tables. Decent silverware and glassware. Our server was both over extended and out of her league. She didn’t understand the menu, very limited wine knowledge and underwhelming table side manner. Checked in on us a few times through he meal. Leaving dishes and empty glasses on the table. Very long wait for food. The expediter brought our food to the table. Entrees were pretty good. Poorly presented by dining room staff. Waited forever for a check that wasn’t even presented by our server. We will not return. This is not a fine dining restaurant.
Waited forever to get our food, even though the restaurant was 1/2 empty. When we got our food finally, my child’s steak smelled foul, and was under cooked, then we sent it back, came back the exact same, still undercooked and smelly. My steak was medium well, when I asked for medium, I sent it back since it was $48 dollars. It came back better but not well seasoned. while we were waiting for our food, we didn’t get offered the bread, we had to mention it, because our waiter forgot. The service was terrible, and our waiter wasn’t too friendly.
To say I was underwhelmed by the food would be an understatement. I usually only leave bad reviews if I had a bad experience, but I had to this time even though there was nothing “bad” with the dinner. The service was ok, but the food was BORING! We had a 5:30 reservation arrived at 5:20 and were told we needed to come back in 10 minutes… it’s summer in Texas, I think we could have been sat and at least offered some water. Ok, now for the food: we usually reserve expensive restaurants for special occasions, and like to order items that we would not be able to recreate easily at home. With the exception of the elk loin (which my wife ordered and was good) every entree was pan seared and basic. I ordered the $42 bone in pork chop. While it was a good size, that was about the only positive. It was seasoned with just salt and pepper and no sauce at all! Isn’t that what one goes to an upscale restaurant for? To be wowed by the food? Had I known the plate would be that basic I would have ordered one of the upcharge sauces (or the waiter could have suggested that). Last, I get at a lot of places all of the side dishes are extras, but the entree’s usually come with some nice garnish that enhances the dish. The garnish was a tiny pee shoot that added a bit of color to the dish and nothing else. Im sad and upset that the “nicest, most upscale” restaurant near us was such a disappointment. While the elk was good, it was still now where near as good as you would expect with a $42 price point (w/no sides). And the pork chop, I could have easily made that dish at home for 10-15 dollars with minimal effort. It’s bad that the best part of the meal was the side we ordered (brussel sprouts) and the appetizer (crab cakes). If you are expecting a good upscale dinner you are better off going elsewhere. While the service was good the food fell way below expectation. I half joked to my wife that a meal at BJs would have been much better at 1/3 the price!
Very disappointed at the Christmas experience we received. We made reservations in advance for Christmas dinner at Antlers Lodge. We were very disappointed to learn that they decided to have a 4 course standard Christmas meal. I don't think there was even a steak option. We were on their website for days looking at the menu trying to decide what to eat only to arrive and be let down by the horrible menu. I recommend emailing those who made reservations to let them know that your full menu would not be available. It would also be prudent to update the menu on the website to show a holiday menu change.
We went for a nice Christmas dinner…..we had to wait 20 minutes for our table, though we had reservations! They gave us an option to sit in a less then desirable location or wait for our “better” table…. As this was a high end dinner and was paying for experience we said we would wait. Though there was only one bench and others were sitting there. Then once we were called we were sat in a corner against the wall… I said this is the upgraded table we waited for she said that was our assigned table. I asked about another option she said they were booked though the table down from us looking out window was open the entire time. We felt we were tucked into a crowded corner…. For the price and ambiance they advertise —nope no never again!! AND there was no decorations?? Really?? Not entering the resort, none on the trees, not in the foyer …. Awful …. Y’all should not open for Christmas !! And service was bad— I hate to have to ask for my water to be filled…. Or ask for a steak knife to cut my steak or or or
The food was good, however I would not go there with a large group. We didnt get our food for two hours later. There was no apologees for the delay or any communication about why the good was delay. While I can understand not allowing adults ordering from the kids menu, they waited an hour ti tell my coworker. Then they poured the red wine and gave steak knives and waited 30 minutes to give us our food. My co-worker order the boneless chicken and got a bone in hers. The best part os they had the nerve to add 18% gratuity for such poor service. They didnt get any of the mixed drinks correctly. Will not go there again.
I made reservations early in the day last Saturday for our anniversary dinner. I even received an email confirmation through open table. I then didn’t notice that they sent a cancellation email about 1.5 hours before my reservation time. I ended up Ubering there only to find out they were closed. I now had nowhere to go and had to uber back to hotel.
Stopped by without a reservation, but despite the hotel being far under capacity, the hostess wouldn’t make any effort to fit us in. She didn’t even try to work with us. We’ve been coming here for years and finally decided to give it a try. Won’t be doing that again.
