Joe Blues San Antonio Reviews
This bar is a great spot! It has a nice front porch for seating, and the music isn't too loud, so you can easily chat with your friends. The drinks are decently priced, and the staff is very friendly and knowledgeable, with a vast selection of drinks and a decent bar selection overall.
Cool place to hang out and relax with a great drink. Blue Star District. There is no food here. Nice jukebox and shows the spurs game.

The best thing about this place is the bartender Johnson. I’ve always been treated with respect, and never had a bad drink or shot. This place could use some drink specials or something like a trivia night. But other than that keep this man behind the bar !
Nice little spot. Bartender was nice and I really like the small atmosphere of the whole thing. Not too crowded or deafening. Definitely recommend
The bartender James was very friendly and maid our visit fun. 🤗
New bartender, great new atmospher, well made drinks, asome service. And clean establishment that bartender provides.
Awesome atmosphere with a Awesome staff
Nicholi, is an amazing bartender. Joe’s Blue is so lucky to have him as their Bartender. Great personality, fun to talk to, works very hard. Thank you for such a great experience, Nicholi. You are appreciated.
Joe Blue's, which is located within the Blue Star Arts Complex, is a great little neighborhood bar in Southtown. It's a really nice casual drink spot, and it offers a great space to gather with friends!! They make a good margarita, and the atmosphere inside of the place is clean, well-kept, & inviting. They offer a really lovely patio/outdoor space as well!

Came to Blue Star for Bar 1919, but decided on Joe Blue's instead! The bartender James was great, knows his craft and is very attentive. He was skilled, engaged, and added a phenomenal personal touch to the experience. I love the vibe here - it was so chill and welcoming. If James is on deck, this is the spot!

If started to go here more often as my destination instead of just stopping in when 1919 is full right below it. It's a small spot and they normally only have one bartender but you never feel forgotten or overlooked. It's right in the middle of the blue star area and a perfect starting or ending place for your night. My only downside is the bathroom is a slight walk through the building is located in. Also last time i went they kept Rimini out of beers. But other than that it's on my normal bar rotation now lol

Fun little bar. Owned by blue star. Wish they had more on tap.
First time here. We had a really nice time. This place is small and quaint with a lowkey abmbiance. The bartender was quick and friendly. Okay pricing, especially for the area. Patio tables for smoking, no ashtrays. That was literally the only complaint in our group, but we also didn't go ask for one so it may be on us. Will be back for sure.

Love the place for years but the latest bar tender for the past 3 years, a short stocky fellow, has sucked the life out of the place. The last time I was there I asked for a taxi and the guy grabbed the phone, dialed it, and then handed it to me with a "Here's the taxi company". I could understand if the place was really packed but there was only two other people in the place. Every other bar I've been to in TX, NM, AZ, NV, CA, & CO asked for a taxi the place calls and lets me know when its out front. This place need to step up it's game with the 1919 down stairs now.
There was pretty much nobody in this bar except for my group of people on a Friday night but it has a nice little dark ambiance with the lights twinkling. I had some fun there.
The amber beer is crisp! Not very flavorful, but I'm impressed with the texture and fizz. The bartender isn't winning any congeniality awards, but he was nice enough I guess. As an out of towner, I love chatting with locals to learn more about the city and culture. But he's not a native Texan, so I get his lack of interest in talking about the town. But beyond good drinks, I like a bartender who can chat when the bar is empty... especially when the bar is empty.

Really nice atmosphere, whether you hang out inside or on their patio. Big selection of beers but only one type of wine. Bartenders can be really cold shoulder/rude. If you are there during the day, and looking for a drink plus wifi to work, you'll be told "yeah, there's wifi" but it never works. They can't seem to get their router working.

Careful. The doorman might be off getting “supplies” and not do his job so the bartender can charge you for drinks before tossing everyone out because you have a 20-yr-old DD.
Extremely rude staff, wouldn't even look up from his phone when taking our drink orders then he just stood there on his phone for 5 minutes while we waited for him to get started. If you're not a local save your money and a horrible experience and hit up some bars along E. Houston, they know how to treat a customer.
Friday 8/26/23 — the guy hates his job. You’d think he’d be more friendly when the place is completely empty. Felt like an inconvenience.
