La Gloria San Antonio Reviews
It has been a few years since I’ve been back to La Gloria. I was craving the beef molcajete and was glad to see it is still on the menu. We also ordered a peruvian style ceviche, guacamole, black beans and a couple of margaritas. First I want to share that the consistency in the food quality was everything! The beef was so juicy and tender and the flavors of spices in were perfection with the molcajete. If you’re from out of town, you must give this a try. Our ceviche was also delicious! The agua chile, and crispy topping made the dish extra flavorful. I will say if you love avocado, the side guac is perfect to pair with the mocajete. I will definitely be back more often.
Excellent experience at La Gloria 🙌✨ They offered us the daily special, and we had some enchiladas that were absolutely delicious — full of flavor and very well prepared. The service was very friendly from the moment we arrived, always attentive and welcoming. The portions were generous, so we left completely satisfied. On top of that, the restaurant itself is beautiful, with a great atmosphere that makes the whole experience even better. Definitely a place we would come back to and highly recommend. 🌮🔥
La Gloria is so solid. Fresh, delicious food & great service always. I would argue they have the best chips & salsa in town too. Fun atmosphere. I love this place as a San Antonio native…because it is just undeniably a great place. Shoutout to the Southside Location too (I go to both, is so good) Horray
We found this gem on our way back to our hotel. The vibe and atmosphere are in still in holiday spirit which made seating outside even better. Our waitress Yojandy was busy but still took her time with us and spoke both English and Spanish, which is always a plus for us. We were a party of 3. We ordered a few plates and drinks, both drinks and food arrived immediately. I was surprised with it being a full house, how quick it was. Thankfully the food was great despite the reviews. This place is def worth a try, I will def come back next time we are in town.
This place was incredible. The food was amazing, the decor was both vibrant yet super cozy, and the location was choice (on the Riverwalk). I was the blanquito -- with limited Spanish and a little hard of hearing -- eating with my significant other's Mexican family who were entertaining and visiting cousin from Monterey, so I got quite the full-on dining experience in the partaking of this Mexican American cuisine. I'm so glad it was experienced at La Gloria and not elsewhere!
The mole chicken enchiladas were amazing. Very flavorful and the presentation was spectacular. Great house marg as well, happy hour prices made it better and it wasn’t too strong! The salsa had more of a mole flavor to it which I liked, very unique I came in on a time in between lunch and dinner and the vibe was perfect. I got a table outside overlooking the river. The restaurant’s outside area is well done 👌 I can see why this is a top rated spot in San Antonio
We had attempted to eat at this La Gloria restaurant. The way the entrance to it is confusing if your not coming in from Grayson St. Otherwise, good luck getting into parking lot. Plus it's free to park and eat here before 3:00 p.m Since it at or near The Riverwalk. Anyways we were greeted by a friendly hostess and we were asked if we'd like inside or out on the patio. It was already humidity hot so we ate inside. Also, our server Adrian did an amazing job answering all our questions regarding history of the restaurant and the specialty of the foods we had. We had a variety of different foods. We started with queso chorizo dip😋 and chips, shrimp aguachili and enchiladas 😋 chicken mole sopes. All of it was true mexican cuisine. All was of great flavor. Now that we know when and how to enter the parking lot. It has a calming atmosphere. We will come back for more sampling of the geat food.
Delicious authentic Mexican food. A true treasure in San Antonio. This is not Tex-mex, this is puro San Antonio Mexican food. Service is good. Come ready for a chill, laid back meal. Be prepared to wait, but there is plenty to do while you wait. Food and drinks are everything you want on the Riverwalk, that’s actually upriver.
My first time dining at LA Gloria and especially the beautiful outdoor dining. Dinner was served promptly and hot. The staff was friendly and very attentive. We all ordered something different, and each meal was loaded with flavor and with just enough spice. I'm glad we chose to enjoy dinner at LA Gloria and look forward to returning upon my next trip to San Antonio.
If you are looking for authentic Mexican food this is your place ! We had our granddaughter’s Birthday 🎂 party here and we had great service and good spirits ! Beer was cold ! And food was hot ! Great salsa and cheese too ! The Aguas chiles w shrimp was 🔥! And the strawberry Margaritas were super chill and refreshing! Enjoy !

Great happy hour margaritas! Fun outdoor patio with holiday lighting in Pearl. Must be a popular spot with warmer weather.

Take the trip to the Pearl area. This is probably the best Margarita we have had anywhere! Food was good.. chips and salsa were superb. Service good. This is the real deal.
Beautiful outdoor seating. Drinks were great. Food was ok. The entire Pearl area was super nice.

Came here just for a few drinks with friends. Our server "Jelly" was so sweet. Knew exactly what the drink menu was all about and was amazing. Not too expensive, wasn't loud, was great!

Was not authentic Tex-Mex! food was cold, tortillas hard and overall over-priced. Margarita was only bright spot. I would not recommend.

Very pedestrian Mexican food for this area. There was no special flavor to any of the food. Salsa was OK. chips were just that, very small chips making dipping virtually impossible. We all did ag…
Pretty solid mid range Mexican food. Friendly staff. Decent sized drink menu. Really enjoyed the salsa they had with the salsa and chips.
La Gloria is a nice place. Good atmosphere. Show up early, or later than normal dinner time as it tends to get packed and parking is hard to find. Service was very good. Staff is friendly. The food was ok. It's not my cup of tea. It may have been an off day, but I felt there was very little flavor to any of the food I tried.
I visited here for the first time recently during a visit to town. I was with a group of seven. The vibe is nice and inviting. The staff was very friendly. We ordered a variety of things: Oaxaqueñas, device, al pastor tacos, bistec tacos, guacamole, chile con queso, refried black beans, and cocktails - house marg, ranch water, flavored margs, paloma, mojito. Everything was hit or miss. Nothing was terrible but everything - drinks included - was either REALLY good or just okay. For us, what made something really good was having it be flavorful. For example, the charbroiled beans and guacamole needed more flavor. We added lime and they both tasted much better. The Oaxaqueñas was so flavorful and delicious. So was the device. The meat on the bistec tacos was dry but the tacos didn't taste bad. I'd come back and try a few more things on the menu, to have a solid line up of regular choices. The prices were fine. We were there during happy hour, so most drinks were reasonably priced.
The kiddos and I really liked the vibe of this place. First of all, it has good parking where a lot of the other locations does not have good parking. Secondly, it has both indoor and outdoor spaces that are very artistic and there is lots to look at. Very child friendly. The negative is the absolute tiniest portion sizes at a premium price. We are still in Texas and not in Europe. We had five people and ordered seven entrees and all left hungry (three of these were kids under the age of 12). The dessert was the funniest. The picture does not really do it justice. It was about the size of a deck of cards and they charged $10. Even though the place was cute and the food tasted pretty good, I can't overcome the feeling of being underwhelmed with portion size and overwhelmed by cost.
server was not as attentive as he could be, but we weren't in a rush. Posole verde was absolutely delicious, I wanted to ask for a second bowl. Rice was pretty good too. Margaritas were tasty and n…

The food was fine. The menu was unique. I liked the tacos al pastor without onions, but they were pretty plain and don't come with anything on the side. You should order something to go with them…
The drinks were delicious, and the food was okay. I went for a birthday dinner, but once it came time to pay, the waitress was supposed to bring back change but shorted me by $20. Make sure to check your receipts and your change. I would recommend this place for drinks only.
Mexicans don't eat here. Locals don't eat here unless they want very Americanized Tex-Mex. It's not a tourist trap but it's very business meeting, out of town family visiting, white washed Tex-Mex. The enchiladas are okay at best. The ingredients on the menu are toppings not fillings - and I tried 3 different ones. So if you get the veggie enchiladas then expect a cheese enchilada topped with everything else. The chips and salsa are both okay at best. For the price you can do way better. Indoor and outdoor seating is available.

I’ve eaten here 3 times and that was enough. I’ll say the chips were thick, crispy and tasty. The salsa and food overall lacked flavor and I ate the chips bare. If you’re already at the riverwalk; sure, eat some chips and have a drink and then move on. I feel like the employees at sometime just gave up. The service has been bad every time I’ve been here. I went last summer in the day. It wasn’t busy. I ordered a drink and some Mole. It arrived and I never saw the waitress again. I got the attention of another waitress and never received my drink. I was ready to order more, but it didn’t happen. I went across the street for some amazing Tacos. I was here last week with a group from work. The same bad ghosted service existed. It was Saturday night, not busy. There was a DJ outside. He BLASTED music. It was so loud and incongruent. The obnoxiously loud music just didn’t match the atmosphere. We had to shout to talk. When it was time to pay the individual bills, the waitress conveniently forgot to tell us that the tip was already added due to our party size. My buddy discovered that some of us double tipped. The food wasn’t necessarily bad, it was kid of meh…
They changed my tip, which is ILLEGAL to do. After I called, they did refund me BUT I wrote this review to say that they absolutely did not care that one of their employees did this. It was very disregarded and they tried to tell me that sometimes it looks like certain percentages are crossed out…… yeah, right. Food sucks too — pico de gallo tastes old and they charge you for that if you ask. Tacos with rice and beans, something that I’m shocked can even taste bad because it’s so easy to make, were horrible. I’m allergic to avocado so I had to ask if certain plates included them or not and the waitress I guess wasn’t happy with my allergy. Lol, it’s comical how rude she got after I inquired. I can die if I eat that, I have no choice but to make sure - especially at a Mexican restaurant. However, after their illegal stunt in changing my tip, I am DEFINITELY not going there and suggest you do the same. I can deal with a horrible restaurant when it comes to food, plenty around, but to illegally change the tip and charge me? That sooooooo crosses the line.
Our dining experience commenced with indoor seating, where the temperature was around 78 degrees, slightly warmer than ideal. In retrospect, the Walmart portable air conditioning unit nearby should have indicated that the air conditioning system was malfunctioning. Chef Johnny Hernandez's Mexican recipes did not align with expectations, particularly considering the high prices. The $28 carne guisada in a molcajete was not accompanied by rice or beans, and the rice lacked flavor, with no apparent inclusion of corn or tomato. The charro beans, priced at $8, tasted more like canned pinto beans with pico added, which seemed excessive. While the corn tortillas were not authentic, the flour tortillas were decent. Unfortunately, the bistek was dry and tasted similar to beef jerky. A meal at Taco Jalisco would have been a more cost-effective option, considering the $140 total for dinner.
I don't know where to begin to describe my visit to this awful place. There should be a warning that says "Food INSPIRED BY MEXICAN FOOD," but it still doesn't come close. Everything went wrong from the start. The waiter we had forgot to come back to take our order. I only asked for an extra two minutes to decide what to order, and after 20 minutes, I had to get up from my table to go get him. Once the food was on the table, it got worse. MY COCKTAIL CAMPECHANO had nothing to do with a Mexican cocktail. First of all, tiger's milk(Leche de Tigre) is a type of Peruvian ceviche sauce. The sauce itself seemed like puree. The seafood presentation made it hard to tell what kind of seafood it was because the pieces were so small. My husband ordered a pair of "Quesabirrias" with flavorless cheese, over-seasoned meat, and a super-low-quality flour tortilla. For God's sake, don't they know flour tortillas? The chef should go to northern Mexico to experience the true flavor of Mexican cuisine, especially Sinaloa to learn how to make seafood cocktails. Overall, for me, the place was CULTURAL APPROPIATION because it appeared to be nice, but the main thing that needed to shine was the food, and that wasn't the case. Not even the music matched the restaurant's theme; it seemed like you were in any bar or pub. You go to a restaurant to eat good food; everything else is redundant. I DO NOT RECOMMEND IT. They really need good food urgently because they are deceiving Americans with bad Mexican food, they are not giving them a good taste.
