Shawarmatee San Antonio Reviews
Everytime I go I leave so content. The food here is delicious. I have been coming here for the past 4 years and never once have I been disappointed. The beef nachos are my favorite, but my current favorite that (I can't believe I never ordered before) is the Surf N Turf burrito. The perfect combination of shrimp and beef. The sauce that it comes with is MADE for this burrito. Their fish tacos are amazing as well. Only thing I will say I feel like the tortillas could be better but the fish and sauce makes up for it. Absolutely my favorite place to go to lunch.
We ordered the California burrito with the fries and queso and OMG it is delicious!!!! Our first time here. Will be back. We came on taco Tuesday and they have $3.50 tacos. So glad we tried this place. Saw it on Facebook.
Food amazing here I always get their Baja shrimp tacos so delicious and crunchy!! Their birria cheese tacos are good too!
Ever since I left Cali, I've always missed this kind of food. If you want the true taste of the Baja California peninsula in Mexico, this is the place, with the best fish tacos. You should also try the salmon tacos; they're delicious. And don't forget to try one of my favorite chipotle salsas. So if you live near San Antonio, TX, stop searching and come to this place to enjoy this tasty food.
The employees here have good vibes which makes the atmosphere feel cozy, and they are friendly. The food is delicious and authentic. The salsa bar station has a variety of almost anything with chile 🥵 sabroso.😋 Thenbkack beans with the lime rice was OMG 😳 rico, hot corn tortillas tacos with chicken and fresh vegetables with pico de gallo and guacamole 🥑.
Popped in today for the 1st time on a whim because I was craving a street taco. Yum!! In addition to street tacos, I got a Baja fish taco as well. Really good food and reminded so much of Southern California taco shops! I did a carnitas and asada street taco - carnitas was my fave. And the fish taco was "chef's kiss" This place is the real deal for Cali - Baja eats!
Perfect example of “don’t judge a book by its cover”. The food didn’t look very appetizing, but coming from someone who had been to plenty of Mexican restaurants in South Texas and Mexico it was very very good. The rice has a great flavor, and the meat was very fresh. The workers seemed very nice as well. I would definitely recommend.
My wife and I decided to check out Sabores Cali-Baja Mexican Grill for lunch today and it did not disappoint let me tell you! They have an amazing salsa bar that consists of 4 different salsa's of varying heat levels and different tastes. Their Verde sauce was mild heat but full of flavor, it was my wife's favorite as she doesn't do heat well. The Roasted was great as well and it's mild. It's black from the char of roasting the ingredients and you can taste that flavor, so so good. The next is their salsa Picasa, and it's spicy, it was my favorite. The flavors mixed withjust the right amount of heat made it perfect in my opinion. Finally is the salsa Roja and they label it very spicy. It is really flavorful, but it was too spicy for it to be enjoyable for use throughout my meal. Besides the salsa they have a cilantro and onion mix, of course, they also have various onion and pepper options. We decided to get three entrees because we wanted to try their street corn bowl besides our main entrees. The Street Corn Bowl consists of: Mexican Rice, Black Beans, Cabbage, corn, special sauce, avocado slices, Tajin & cheese. It was delicious and the cabbage was surprisingly really good in the dish, I liked the texture it gave it alot. I got the Surf N Turf Burrito: Shrimp & Steak, lime rice, guacamole, chipotle sauce, toasted cheese, guacamole, pico de gallo, cilantro and onions and it was huge, I also got a side of black beans. I'm a big eater and didn't finish it after having eaten half of the Street Corn Bowl. The steak in it was so tender and well seasoned, and the shrimp were delicious. They gave you a generous amount of meat as well. In my opinion one of the better burritos I've had. My wife ordered the $11 lunch special Cali Shrimp Bowl that came with a drink.Cali Shrimp Bowl: Shrimp, Lime rice, black beans, guacamole, pico de gallo, chipotle dressing, lettuce and roasted salsa. She loved it and I sampled it and really liked it as well. The service was fantastic they came over and checked on us a few times during our meal, which was nice of them because it's not a formal style restaurant. Think walk up to counter order and go sit down and you're on track. The restaurant was very clean and it had it's own little ambiance of a Baja style walk-in. After everything was said and done we paid $39.81 and that was after a $5.19 tip, so the prices are definitely reasonable. If your looking for really good Baja style Mexican definitely check it out. It's on the corner of Babcock and Snowden at 2414 Babcock suite #100.
Walked in and noticed the place was very clean and well lit. Ordered at the counter the Trio plate with rice and beans. Order was delivered to my table with extra hot sauce in bottles. The tacos were plump fully loaded and the taste was amazingly delicious. The rice and beans were authentic and also tasty. Service was super as I think the owner stopped by to check in on me several times. I very much enjoyed dining here. 👍

What truly sets this place apart is the passion behind every dish. You can feel the love and pride poured into the cooking—it's more than just a meal, it's a celebration of culture. I absolutely love this place and will definitely be coming back. If you're looking for real, flavorful, soul-satisfying Mexican food in an atmosphere that feels like a warm embrace, Sabores Cali-Baja Mexican Grill is it. Highly recommended!
The food here is fresh and amazing, it's well seasoned and reminds me of home in California. The service is also top tier, my wife wanted me to try it and I was not disappointed. It's conveniently located next to the VA so I will likely be back pretty regularly. They also have a salsa bar the "extra spicy" is my favorite (although extra spicy is a stretch) it definitely had my nose dripping slightly but nothing extreme just a really nice heat.
Why?! Why did it take me so long to try this place?! I’ve lived around the corner from here and have driven by countless times swaying “hmm, I want to try that place”. FINALLY, we decided to stop by one evening, and OMG, I didn’t know what we’ve been missing out on! It’s comfortable inside, not big but not tiny either. It’s very beach themed, so there’s a very island vibe to it. You walk up and order your food and then they bring it to your table. I got the surf and turf burrito and it was fat with big pieces of shrimp and steak in it. The flavors were awesome 🤤 they don’t skimp on ingredients and everything worked well together. We also got the asada nachos which was a huge serving and also hit all the right flavor points. My son got chicken nuggets with chips and a churro, and my wife got fish tacos. Oh yeah! I also got the elotes, and let me tell you… yes. Just yes. I’ve been getting it from some other restaurants lately and have been disappointed, but this was perfect. Everything was fresh, delicious, and generously portioned. They had a really nice salsa bar also. Overall, I didnt have high or low expectations, but it certainly exceeded anything I thought. Go here. When you have time, whether it’s lunch, dinner, you need to pay this place a visit. Fresh ingredients and food, nice staff, just a fantastic experience. I heard another lady giving the owner or manager compliments about the food also. Try it when you get a chance!
Great little place. Very eclectic menu. Not your average Tex-Mex. Everything was really great. The young lady the counter was exceptionally friendly. You just walk in you place your order and then you just sit down and wait for your food. We noticed a lot of pick up to-go orders. This friend and I thoroughly enjoyed our meal and said we would be back
San Antonio!!! Wow! This place is delicious! I had the grilled shrimp tacos, and all the ingredients were so fresh! My husband had the crane Asada fires. He said the only thing missing for him was the fires had too many fresh ingredients for him. He would have liked them more cheesy, etc, but he loved them either way. We live in Laredo, and you guys are so lucky to have this restaurant because if you are on a diet or watching your macros, this restaurant is for you, and if you are a foodie like my husband, this restaurant is for you, too! Don't miss out and try this place out. It beats most of the fancy Mexican restaurants I've visited in SA.
I ordered shrimp fajitas with a $5.50 side of carne asada and they gave me this whole order of their dry carne asada and about 4 shrimp the size of a quarter. Asked for NO GUACAMOLE ON THE PLATE. Bottom of the sides plate had two small pieces of lettuce on the side and the rest was a tiny tiny side of rice and beans in their own containers wasting plastics and what I can only describe as the most unappealing guac I've ever seen in my life! It was practically white! Having said all this, I won't be returning to "sabores" ever again.
