Taco-Tex San Antonio Reviews
Awesome Napoles! Big portions for little price! Servers are always nice!
Very good food you won't be disappointed! Great staff and the breakfast is fulfilling and amazing! Muy Bueno la comida'! 👌
The best huevos rancheros I’ve ever had. The beans are delicious and they don’t add lard or bacon which is a plus. The potatoes were nice sized and slightly crunchy, and the over easy eggs were perfect. As an additional plus the people working there were super attentive providing a great experience. I just wish they were open for dinner rather than closing at 3pm.
Favorite hole-in-wall family owned Mexican restaurant. Great for breakfast and lunch. Very friendly staff and prompt service. We have been coming here very regularly and quality has always been consistent.
Menudo was very good. Now they are re-designing their menu, and started offering new treats. For me "Cafe de Olla" is my new favorite. This place is very family friendly and most importantly very clean. Thank you Taco-Tex for keeping a 100 rate on your place UPDATE 11/24 Taco Tex is now remodeled. The owners had it all changed now. The ambiance is all very new, furniture, flooring and all including digital menus. New look, with the always great taste. Thank you Taco Tex for a new look!
This is a Northside restaurant in the Brook Hollow plaza. Off San Pedro and Brookhollow by HEB. Came in for Menudo, 2 of the guys next to me were having Barria Soup. Made with shredded Lamb and can come with ramen noodles. This was off the chain good!! So much flavor. Staff always so nice. Just a good place to eat. Thank you Taco Tex
Food was on point! Ordered the Taco Suicide, Al Carbon Taco and the Breakfast Burrito with bacon and potatoes. Love the Taco Suicide and the Al Carbon taste like a burger. The service was fast and yet the food was really fresh. The place have indoor seating and do have numbers of chairs inside. Aside from the tacos they do have pastries on the counter too.
From the moment we walked in, to the moment we left, everything was great. The salsa they serve with the chips..I was obsessed. What we didn't eat with the chips I put on my tacos. It had an amazing flavor and was chunky so you got good bites of onions and peppers and tomatoes. The tacos were filled to bursting and so tasty. But what took our experience over the top was how friendly all of the employees were. All smiles and just all around nice. I have had food from there years ago but this was my first time dining in and its definitely our new weekend taco stop.
Food is great, ordered the "Carne A La Mexicana" Plate and it was very tasty.. If I had to choose a Mexican restaurant in town that tastes unique, I would say this one is it. The Ladies are always nice and genuine. I'd see this place packed often which isn't a surprise despite how good the food is there. Overall If you're looking for a good Mexican restaurant in town, I'd say this one right here.
Great food! One of my top places to eat! Very clean kitchen and great friendly staff and owner! Food was hot and presented nicely. They have in my opinion the best Al-Pastor in San Antonio. You’ll definitely miss out if you don’t already know about this place. Their red & green chilaquiles are delicious. Their pancakes plate are made on point as well. DEFINITELY RECOMMEND TO YOU!
On my lunch break I stopped by Taco-tex for lunch. The staff was friendly, fast and the food was great. My daughter had the barbacoa taco and she loved it. She said it was seasoned well. I had the bean & cheese taco and the chicharron & eggs taco. Both tacos were very good and we will revisit them again.
Wish I could give this eatery another star because it was a cozy, clean TexMex hole in the wall that has a lot of potential. The salsa and chips that were brought to our table were fresh and the salsa was flavorful with fresh tomatoes, chilies, onion, and cilantro. The two hot sauces that were for the main meal were both of the roasted varieties and not really hot enough for my liking. I had the lunch special (Texas plate ?) that included two cheese enchiladas, carne guisada, rice and beans, and a portion of what was supposed to be guacamole and two flour tortillas. My wife had the eggs and chorizo with potatoes and refried beans and corn tortillas. My lunch plate came with tea. The cheese enchiladas were not bad, but not great either. They had sauce from the carne guisada over them and it just wasn’t a great match. Something about the sauce was just a bit off but the meat was tender. The beans could have been Ranch Style beans that had been smashed. Not typical refried pinto beans. The rice was mixed with carrots and corn. That distracted from the taste of the rice. The flour tortillas were warm and thank goodness the butter wasn’t “frozen” as is too often the case in some restaurants. My tea was a bit murky telling me it wasn’t very fresh. The guacamole was watery. That’s a no no. My wife simply said, “It didn’t have much taste,” but she was getting over some allergies and may have lost a bit of her taste ability. She had corn tortillas and it looked like they were greasy which is odd for corn tortillas. We may go back and try something different but will give it some time.
I really wanted to like this place, but with it being a mexican restaurant, BEANS are important, especially the taste. I ate here and ordered chilaquiles verde with no eggs. The chilaquiles were absolutely delicious, the potatoes were also good, but the beans were so..flavorless? For the color and consistency, I was expecting a more savory/maybe semi salty bean taste that refried beans usually give you. But it did not. I also ordered one bean and cheese taco, and one bean and chorizo (i was really craving that refried beans taste) And they all tasted so bland. The bean and cheese, you could not taste at all. I had my friends try it as well, and they said the same thing. Just felt like you were eating something out of nothing. Growing up in mexico and having tried lots of Mexican places here and just being in a spanish household overall, I don't think I would come back. If I do come back, it would be for their lemonade or horchata, which was the best part out of everything.
I ordered chilaquiles rojos. Description says with chile guajillo. I asked if it was only guajillo or that tomato was added. Waitress said guajillo only. Got my order and it is not guajillo only. It was watered down and with tomato or a sauce mixture. Very disappointed. I tried and it was just not the taste of chile rojo. Will not come back again.
Wow. Plastic in the taco, and the enchilada (see pictures). How did this place get 4.5 stars?!? With all the amazing taco spots in SA... i'm speechless. Got the order wrong too (no cheese on the tacos) but thats minor compared to the uh.. plastic they added. They at least refunded the order
