Monarca San Benito Reviews
Excellent restaurant with delicious food and a great atmosphere. Everything we ordered was fresh, full of flavor, and beautifully prepared. The service was friendly and attentive, making the whole experience even better. Highly recommended! And big thank you for making our anniversary even more memorable.
The drinks and food at the Bar at Monarca are absolutely delicious, making every visit a delightful experience. The ambiance and music create the perfect vibe for a relaxing and enjoyable time. The place itself is beautiful, with tasteful decor that enhances the atmosphere. Service is excellent, with attentive and friendly staff ensuring everything runs smoothly. Highly recommend for anyone looking for great food, drinks, and a fantastic atmosphere!
Excellent service, the staff highly professional, bar tenders and waiters… proactively and efficiently! No complaints 😎🙏🏻 late dinner options, something that you need to know if you work until late
Honestly in that top 10 list for El Salvador. Chef is super talented, loved everything from start to finish. It’s not cheap, but the dish sizes are actually good for what you’re paying. Not one of those places that will give you two bites for $39.99. If I had to nit pick on some things, the brandy was overpowering on the pasta, felt like there were too many specials to even remember, and sometimes the table wasn’t cleared very quickly compared to other restaurants in the area and price point. (They were full when we visited) hats off to the chef, amazing meal. The bar is top notch as well. 10/10 will go back. Edit: after reading over some of the one star reviews. This isn’t a place to go if you’re in a hurry or dying of hunger. Good food takes time. Cheap food is fast. This place shows that, don’t go if you’re in a rush.
Every dish was absolutely excellent.
Outstanding food, superb & friendly service and overall wonderful experience. Would highly recommend.
Great restaurant and probably one of my best culinary experience in El Salvador. From the start with the home made butter and bread to every bite. It was an incredible dinning experience. Let’s not forget the great wine selection that helps to enjoy even more. Don’t forget to go upstairs to the bar to finish your night with a great cocktail and live music. Will definitely come back on every trip to El Salvador. Muchas Gracias ❤️❤️❤️
Fantastic service and food. A gem to be sure. Great wine selection.
Top notch- great drinks and super recommend their winner plate “lomito en salsa setas…”
Extremely recommended. Extraordinaire service - excellent price and top environment
Great place, decía must go destination. The food is delicious, drinks are great

Best place to fine dine in San Salvador. The fennel -apple walnut salad and parmesan taggliatelle are the best, plus a unique wine selection. Definitely recommended!
Awesome food, private dinning room available, awesome service!
Just great. Pricy, but well worth it. From the welcome, ambiance, service to the food everything was excellent. Very personal / professional service by Gerardo and make sure to order the monarca steak, fantastic dish.
Excellent location in the heart of the zona Rosa, located in an old colonial home with a quaint inner patio. A solid, well balanced tasteful menu with a premium bar and as best of a wine selection you can find in El Salvador.
Monarca was nice. I like the ambience a lot. The food was pretty good. For starters we got the foie gras and it was really good just a bit cold from the inside. You guys should leave it for another 2 minutes in the oven. In general the señora and I had a great times. Good drinks and good food. A bit pricey but not too bad.
Great food. Really good service and nice people. The atmosphere is also very enjoyable.
Excellent restaurant!!! I had a superb sea bass, one of the best I ever had.
Portions are a bit small for the price but food is good
My preferred restaurant in San Salvador
Stupendous! You will not be disappointed!
A culinary gem in San Salvador 🤌
Highly regarded
I’m from the United States and recently visited Monarca in El Salvador with friends, and it was an amazing experience from start to finish. We ordered a wide range of dishes including tuna tartare, trufa tartare, pulpo español, dumplings, crostini de lomito, croquetas de jamón serrano, empanizados, and papas fritas. For mains, we enjoyed the New York strip, lomito cuts, entraña with chimichurri, and the lechón confitado with salsa de manzana. Everything was cooked to perfection and beautifully presented. On top of that, the service was outstanding — attentive, professional, and welcoming. We also tried their wine selection, which was excellent and paired perfectly with the meal. Drinks like mezcalitas, mules, Don Julio, and wine by the bottle complemented the evening perfectly. For the quality and experience, the pricing is very reasonable. Monarca exceeded all expectations, and I will absolutely be coming back the next time I’m in El Salvador.
This place is 10 out of 5 stars. Cesar was our server and his work ethics and knowledge impressed me. I highly reccomend . This is European level!
One of my favourite restaurants in San Salvador is consistently incredible. The service and food are always top-notch.
Outstanding food and one of a kind personalized service all around !
One of my fav. Great drinks and food!
Probably the best dinner I've had in San Salvador.
Trendy high end restaurant. The portions were a bit small for its price. Flavors were really good but over all I was expecting a little bit more. The mixology was really good.
Great service!. The waiter and the waiter sup are attentive of what is happening. They can read your queues. There was an English menu and was delivered without us asking. First time this happens in a restaurant in ES. (We normally have people speaking English) If I talk about all the people at the table. Everyone was pleased with what they ordered. I ordered shrimp and didn't like the presentation. However it tasted good and upon recommendation they rearranged the plate. The wine menu was not brought up to the table. I has to ask for the wine options since they are not in the main menu either. There's no parking but there is Valet Parking, free if you eat there. So the waiter at the end took care of adding a note to our tickets. Good looking place. I would just recomend some silent fans for the terrace area since it has hot last night. Seems like the prime rib is a great option.
It is one of the top restaurants in San Salvador. Set in a mid-twentieth mansion, the ambiance is superb: valet parking at the front porch, dinner in the garden, or the converted living rooms. The lounge/bar is located on the second floor terrace, and it is an excellent choice for an apperritiff or a night cap (yes, smoking is permitted, and cigars are available). The menu offers an international diverse selection with daily specials. Great wine and cocktail options, too.
Food is great. Lacks parking, place is usually full especially weekends so I’d recommend no walk-ins, only reservations
Beautiful place with friendly staff, and great service but the food needs improvement. The fried shrimp were a 5/10, the sashimi was mediocre and didn't have much to it. In fact, we didn't finish it. The croquettes were good, and the short rib was okay. The best dishes we had was the pasta that's made in the cheese wheel with ham and the banana dessert. Excellent service.
I recently visited Monarca and I must say, my experience was far from satisfactory. The overall service was incredibly slow, the food was just okay, and to make matters worse, it took them over 1.5 hours to serve our meals. Additionally, they managed to mess up our orders, serving us the wrong dishes. It was an evening filled with frustration and disappointment. First and foremost, the service at this restaurant was painfully slow. We arrived with hungry stomachs, eagerly anticipating a delightful dining experience, only to be met with endless waiting. The staff seemed disorganized and overwhelmed, failing to prioritize their customers' needs. It felt as though we were completely forgotten about for long stretches of time. When the food finally arrived, it was nothing extraordinary. The taste was average at best, lacking the wow factor that we were expecting. It certainly did not justify the exorbitant amount of time we had already spent waiting. The presentation was also subpar, with dishes appearing rushed and hastily put together. To add insult to injury, our orders were completely mixed up. We had specifically requested certain items, but the kitchen seemed to have completely disregarded our preferences. Not only did this result in a delay in getting the correct dishes, but it also left us feeling ignored and disrespected as customers. In the end, our dining experience at Monarca left a bitter taste in our mouths. Slow service, mediocre food, and wrong orders are simply unacceptable. The management should take a serious look at their operations and make necessary improvements to ensure a better experience for their patrons. I cannot recommend this restaurant based on my experience, and I would advise others to consider alternative options in the area.
After seeing the menu I was hoping to finally have a good gin and tonic in El Salvador. I ordered Bombay Sapphire with cucumber, expecting a well-balanced drink. Unfortunately, they used San Pellegrino tonic, one of the worst tonics, it’s barely carbonated, has a dull bitterness and lacks the crispness needed to complement a London Dry gin. So, my drink ended up tasting flat and watery, not what I’d expect for $11. For this price they should at least use some good tonic like Fever Tree, Thomas Henry, etc. We also tried some of their tapas, but they were disappointing as well. The burger had a nice homemade bun, but the patty was too dry and lacked any sauce, likely because the meat was too lean. The papas bravas were just one potato with tomato sauce and really bland aioli, nothing special, definitely not worth $11 (would be overpriced even for $4). Yet another overpriced spot in El Salvador that doesn’t justify even half the cost. Definitely not worth it...
