Went to Fisherman's Bar in San Clemente and gotta say it was a good call. I got the fish and chips and man they were bomb. The cod was super flaky and the batter had a solid crunch to it. Honestly the fish was so good it did not even need tartar sauce, which is pretty rare. Usually I drown fish and chips in tartar but here a little squeeze of lemon was all it needed. Super flavorful and cooked right. I also got the clam chowder with a side of sourdough bread and could not complain at all. The chowder was the perfect mix of creamy and chunky. Good chunks of potato and clams, not watery or overly thick either. Dipping that hot sourdough into the chowder was just money. The bread was nice and warm and soft, not dry like you sometimes get at other places. My wife ordered the fish tacos and I had a few bites and honestly they just missed the mark. They were cold, kind of chewy, and just did not really have much flavor even after trying to add salsa and tartar. Maybe they just had an off day with the tacos but I would not recommend them. Stick with the classic fish and chips for sure. Also gotta shout out our waitress. She was beautiful, super sweet, and really on it when it came to checking on us and making sure we were good and taken care of. Service like that always makes the experience way better. And of course you just cannot beat the views out there. Right on the pier, ocean all around, people watching while you are eating some good food. Whole vibe just hits different. Definitely worth the stop if you are hanging out in San Clemente.
My family loves this restaurant! We come here almost every time we visit San Clemente. It's become one of our family traditions. The food is always delicious. The service great! And you can't beat the view! It's so relaxing! Sunday brunch is great! Love their muffins! But for the other days, their sourdough toast is awesome! We have tried many different dishes and haven't had a bad one yet. Highly recommend!
What a lovely brunch experience! Our server was Stef and she was absolutely incredible. The food was fabulous, the drinks amazing! Brunch came with muffins that were so moist. Highly recommend if you’re in the area. We had a bit of a wait but it was just enough time to walk down the pier, which was a cherry on top!
I have never been to this restaurant and was so thrilled to be able to go for a date night with my husband. I have a huge thing for seafood and am always trying to make fresh seafood at home, but nothing beats going out for a special dinner on the town. This restaurant is literally on the wharf and has two sites to eat at. One is the oyster bar and the other is the main restaurant. We chose the restaurant in order for us to be able to sample all kids of food. We picked Bucket of Clams, a Half Dungeons Crab, Oyster Rockefeller, a Bowl of Clams Chowder and for dessert Crème Brûlée . We also splurged on a few drinks. Let me tell you this place was so fabulous. The broth the Clams were steamed in you could just eat that alone and be extremely happy. The Clams themselves were exquisite and so delicious and not over chewy, with no sand in site. The Oysters were so creamy and delightful, the Crab was steamed to perfection and didn’t even honestly need any butter. The Bowl of Clams Chowder was so creamy and rich with big chunks of clams and potatoes and you could just taste how fresh it was. The Crème Brûlée was to die for and was a perfect ending to our meal. We left there stuffed to the gills and will definitely bring coming here again to try other fabulous options. Oh and by the way the service was extremely amazing and prompt. They even brought us a complementary bucket of clams because we he first bucket did have a few unopened clams, so to make up for it they sent us a new one, which obviously we didn’t refuse. Thanks so much again ladies and gentlemen it was an amazing time we will soon not forget!
I recently had the chance to go to The Fisherman’s Restaurant & Bar with my husband, and I absolutely loved it. From the start, the oceanfront atmosphere made the whole experience so special — nothing beats enjoying a good meal while listening to the waves in the background. I ordered the Salmon BLT, and it was simply delicious. The bread was fresh with the perfect texture, the salmon was juicy and well-seasoned, and the avocado, lettuce, and tomato balanced everything beautifully. The crispy bacon added the perfect touch. The side of mushroom rice was flavorful yet light, which paired really well with the sandwich. My husband went for the classic Fish and Chips, and he was just as impressed. The fish was perfectly golden and crispy on the outside while tender and fresh on the inside. The fries were hearty, and with a squeeze of lemon and the dipping sauce, it was spot on. I enjoyed a chilled glass of white wine with my meal, which rounded out the experience perfectly. Overall, it was a delicious lunch with spectacular views and very good service. I left feeling so happy to have shared such a wonderful moment with my husband. We’ll definitely be coming back soon.🙊🫨💃🏻🙌🏻
I had brunch here with my boyfriend and his cousin this past weekend, and it was such a great experience from start to finish! The atmosphere was warm and inviting, with beautiful views of the water that made it feel like a charming East Coast spot right here in California. I ordered the French toast and a Bloody Mary — both were absolutely delicious. The French toast was perfectly fluffy with just the right amount of sweetness, and the Bloody Mary had a nice kick without being overpowering. They even surprised us with complimentary muffins to start, which was such a thoughtful touch — warm, fresh, and a perfect way to begin our meal. Our waitress was incredibly kind, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed without hovering. To top it all off, we didn’t have to wait at all for a table, which made the morning even better. Between the food, the friendly service, and the stunning waterfront views, this spot is definitely one I’d recommend and can’t wait to visit again!
I recently had the chance to go to The Fisherman's Restaurant & Bar with my husband, and I absolutely loved it. Located directly on the historic San Clemente Pier , The Fisherman's in San Clemente offers an ultimate Southern California dining experience. From the start, the oceanfront atmosphere made the whole experience so special - nothing beats enjoying a good meal while listening to the waves in the background. The restaurant specializes in Pacific Northwest seafood, offering a diverse menu of seafood. The food is consistently good, with an emphasis on fresh, well-prepared seafood. We have tried their Mahi Mahi fish tacos and Fishermen’s hamburger, they were freshly made and delicious 😋. Also, l enjoyed a chilled glass of white wine with my meal, which rounded out the experience perfectly. Service was attentive , professional, and efficient, even during busy periods. It's worth noting that due to its prime location and popularity, The Fisherman's restaurant can be quite busy, and parking nearby may be limited. Overall : The Fisherman's restaurant & bar is a San Clemente icon, perfect for anyone looking for a memorable meal with spectacular ocean views in a relaxed, casual setting. Whether it's for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, it offers a truly Californian dining experience. We highly recommend it!!!
Excellent 👌🏽 we visited with our large group for lunch and they even accommodated our to dogs on the patio in their carrier. (dogs are not permitted on the pier, so talk to management) Food was great, service was great, and it was a beautiful day in the sun. We enjoyed it so much, that we came back the next day for breakfast on their location on the left side of the pier.
This place is well worth it. The ocean view, service, and ambiance were spectacular. Clam chowder, and crab cakes were great. Main course was fish and chips, My girlfriend got the Shrimp Scampi. Both were delicious. Everything was served fresh, without a long wait time. Oh yeah Cesar Salad (a must). Complimentary fresh bread. Can’t wait to go back.
Came here on a weekend with my husband. We sat on the balcony right next to the beach. The view was beautiful. There was a surfing competition going on on that day. It was a little sunny but not too hot. We ordered the fried calamari strips 10/10, and clam chowder 8/10 not my fav, but overall we had an enjoyable experience. The waitresses were nice and friendly

I don't even know where to start. Everything about this place was great! My fiancée and I along with her parents came here for breakfast on our wedding day. The seafood Benedict was out of this world! Staff and atmosphere of the restraunt were 11/10. Then we decided to come back the same day for dinner as a married couple with some friends that tagged along from the wedding. We were taken care of by Emily and she had to be one of the best servers we ever had. We came close to their closing time but she did not hesitate to give us a great time. She was honest when a friend of ours wanted a certain fish and she said it won't be fresh and flakey and recommend another fish that was fresh and our friend loved it. Even after the fact that we were still eating 30 minutes past their closing she came out with their mudd pie desert as a surprise and gift for our big day! We kept apologizing for it being so late but she genuinely seemed happy and excited to serve us! Prices are above average but the food is way worth it! Also we sat outside for dinner and they keep it warm with their heaters. Definitely coming back to this location and highly recommend it to everyone!
2025-06-30 Restaurant located at the start of the local pier. Features a full service restaurant side and a casual oyster bar side. We had lunch on the oyster bar side. We ordered clam chowder, calamari, seafood salad, grilled ahi sandwich, shrimp taco's and a kid's fish and chips to. All foods were delicious. I thought the bowl of clam chowder was good, but not spectacular. The calamari was breaded, thick chunks of squid body. The seafood salad was a bit pricey for just OK seafood with lettuce. There was generous amount of prev frozen bay shrimp and snow crab. Service was quick and friendly. Atmosphere is great for a seaside bar with great views of the surf and pier. Would go back anytime.
Beautiful spot with a great evening. I rated an overall four due to the clam chowder. The texture and taste was great, having clams in clam chowder is a prerequisite. It was mainly celery and potatoes, more celery than potatoes. The fish and chips was great, nice fresh taste with a crunchy batter. The sourdough bread outstanding. Service by Giselle was excellent. I will return.
Went to the restaurant side of this place and the menu is slightly different from the bar side. Both serve more or less the same menu, but the restaurant side has more choices and option like pasta that the other side doesn’t. Prices are similar and the service is attentive on both sides. The view is what brings you to this location. Get a table outside and watch the sunset as you are having dinner. The best dishes are probable the fresh fish and the bread which I had two of cause it was just so good warm and fresh from the oven. For those who are really hungry the fish and chips looked great (thank you to the table next to me for each ordering a plate), but don’t get a chance to try them.
The view was to die for. The service was excellent. The food was mostly above average, with spectacular fresh sourdough, but, the prawns were really small for their "happy hour pricing. Local beer, calamari and clam chowder were above average.
Right at the San Clemente pier, there is a wonderful eatery overlooking the sand. You would think in such an idyllic setting, the food might be secondary or even mediocre, but not here as every bite is a pleasant surprise. We tried a superbly prepared grilled whole branzino served with thick cut potatoes and asparagus. The fish tacos were expertly done with the right salsa and the addition of avocado (should be standard) took it home. Finally, our one non-seafood entree of grilled chicken sandwich in fluffy focaccia was truly delicious. So, you can indeed have a great setting AND superb food. We will definitely be back.
Today Oct 26th at 12:45pm we got the 3 pc fish and chips at the Gallery that is owned by this restaurant. There was something that looked like a worm/bug/parasite in the fish. I am not 100% sure what that is but look at my photos and see for yourself. If you Google it really looks like a parasitic roundworm. Upon confronting them they said they issued a refund. This needs investigated by the restaurant as this is potentially a serious health issue. The staff at the Galley did not seem concerned.
