Wonderful Ramen spot if you're in the area. The food was really delicious and our waiter was super friendly and attentive - we didn't want or wait for anything. Highly recommend trying this place if ramen is your thing - they do have a few options other than Ramen for those that are not a fan. Parking is limited but it wasn't too busy when we went so we didn't have any issues parking.
Heard about this place from the ramen con event in Torrance back in 2023. I ordered the garlic tonkatsu. It was very delicious. The ramen had flavor and garlic was very good. Presentation was also good. I will come back again when I am in the area.
Best ramen I have ever had in my life. Seriously this place was incredible. The pork was cooked perfectly and the broth was punchy and flavorful. The noodles were out of this world and like nothing I've ever had before. The gyozas were also really really good.
The best ramen in Southern California. Really friendly staff. Very accommodating for families. I highly recommend this place. It's become our new stopping point for road trips.
This is definitely the best ramen in SC! Flavorful broth and SPICY! Had to get rolled out of there cuz I couldn't stop eating it.
They take ramen seriously. I tried chicken broth ramen. While the soup is chicken-based, dried kombu kelp and dried shiitake mushroom bring complex umami and additional great flavor. Highly recommended if you look for authentic ramen. [Updated 4/14/22] Revisited the place and had Signature Pork Broth Ramen. It was strong and bold taste, and was totally different from their chicken broth ramen which has a delicate flavor.
So delicious! We tried the pot stickers which were great. Then I had the spicy tonkotsu with pork and my husband had the chicken soy sauce ramen. Both so flavorful and very filling. Very friendly and attentive service too. Will definitely be going back
Decided to give this place a try last week and all I can say is WOW! Everything from the service to the taste of the ramen was top-notch. It feels so great to have a place like this so close to home - we will definitely be back!
Didn't expect to find a tasty ramen shop in a beach town like San Clemente. The ramen here is great overall. The chashu pork is tender and full of flavor. The cuts are also huge too! I was blown away by the amount of umami I tasted in the first sip of broth. It's packed with garlic, which I love. The marinated soft-boiled egg was delicious, but mine was pretty cold so I had to warm it up by submerging it under the broth for a while. The staff here are also very sweet. I recommend visiting if you're craving ramen and happen to be in South OC. There's a lot of ramen up in LA and in North OC, but this was my favorite so far down south.
The tonkatsu ramen was delicious and presented beautifully! The spicy sesame ramen is the best ramen ever! We loved our meal!
I was staying at a nearby dump, uh I mean hotel and was going to try a burger place I saw on the road. I decided to take a long walk to San Clemente pier and grab a bite on the way since it was dinnertime. As I was walking along I saw 9style Ramen and my decision of getting a hamburger was changed. Nice cozy place and many dining people inside having noodles and enjoying themselves. The friendly lady sat me at a table and I ordered a Takoyaki appetizer and what I guess is their house noodle, garlic pork Ramen. The Takoyaki was nice and cooked perfectly. My noodle bowl arrived shortly after and it looked and smelled great! I am not a vegetarian, but I never eat the meat that comes with noodles, except for shrimp. Often the meat has fat and although it's consumed, I just always leave it behind, always. Well in this case I ate everything! The fatty pork was actually grilled and had a delicious charred flavor. The fatty pork which I never eat was incredibly delicious and melted in your mouth. I am quite finicky about fatty meats, but this was a surprisingly delicious accompaniment to the dish. Noodle were perfectly cooked and the broth was exceptional! Overall probably the best noodles I've had in a long time and believe me I live on noodles 🍜 Very very impressive and I will be back the next time I am in San Clemente. 5☆☆☆☆☆😁
Food is absolutely delicious! The ramen has been hitting with these rainy days so happy this place is nearby. You can order online for pickup or on the phone too. The staff is super nice and the food is moderately priced but the quality is worth it.
We ordered from this place on the recommendation of our Airbnb hostess. We both got the spicy Tonkatsu and also the barbecue buns. It was all great. We did not dine in so no rating on atmosphere. I would definitely order again.
A nice cozy stop between LA and San Diego. The vegan ramen was nice.
Excellent ramen. Curry was terrific and definitely homemade and high quality. Cabbage salad was exactly what I had experienced when in Japan. Everything was very authentic and fresh.
Was recommended by a friend to check this place out on our trip in California. We got there when they opened, so we were served immediately. Our waiters were super friendly and made sure we were well taken care of. Wish they had a little bigger of a menu selection, but the food is amazing regardless!
Absolutely delicious food! Loved the vibe in the restaurant too, the open windows, surfer vibe, really added to the Hawaiian theme. My son said he had the best pulled pork quesadilla he's ever had! the thai beef salad was so yummy, and spicy, but in a good way. The tuna melt and cheesesteak sandwich were awesome too. We were really impressed and highly recommend 👏🏼
While eating dinner here, I thought I was in Hawaii. My wife was incredibly impressed. The flavors and presentation of our dinner plates were outstanding and memorable enough to want to come back for more. The teriyaki burger was just right - sauce was seasoned well enough to bring out flavors in the rest of the burger. Although fries were a bit salty, the burger was more than enough to be satisfied. The Loco Moco was also amazing - paired with pickled mango and Kim chee. Gravy on the side was my mistake. The next time, I will ask them to add more on top of the whole thing, eggs and all. Rice was perfect, showcasing the tender hamburger patty. Dinner was so amazing, we had to get a slice of cheesecake dessert because it had to be tried based on principle, especially after that meal. I highly recommend it. Don't be afraid to find parking and get into Hapa J's as this meal is a fantastic experience.
Alright I chose this email that won't say my name. But tonight I ordered their nachos for delivery (I usually go in person when I for happy hour) but all I can say is I love this place. And tonight they made me smile more than ever. On my order in the part where it asks for customization stuff I put them a super secret special message (I wanted them to smile and they know what I said). And they sent me this amazing note with an awesome desert because they saw my note! I wanna cry because nice people still exist! Whoever was working that night I love you. Not just because you gave me cheesecake (I haven't eaten it just yet but I'm excited too). But because you guys saw my note and gave me another note back! THANK YOU TO ALL OF YOU! I'm sending virtual air hugs your way now!(: This brought me so much joy. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Ill never forget this! I love you all!
This place is incredible! The half pound spicy Ahi Poke is the best, equal to what I tried in Kona, Hawaii. It's not on the menu, ask for it!!! Just do it!!! Thanks Brock, great job,, you guys know what's up🌺🤙Back again, 4/12/24, guess what I got? Oh yeah baby, 1/2 pound Spicy Ahi and Brock was on point again ! Also thanks Drake suggesting the Spam Tempura🍣. Also great!! Both 2$ off during happy hour 3-6! Back again 9/8/24, traveling to LA for a concert.🎸 Frankie took care of us!! Great job!! Just showed my review pictures, easy peasy ordering👍👍yummy
This restaurant/bar was a last-minute Father's Day selection. It had to be in San Clemente as that was halfway between the parties attending. And it was an awesome selection! The food is excellent, and the portions were very, very generous for the price. All of the dishes we ordered were well liked by everyone, and I look forward to trying the rest of the extensive menu. Since we sat in the smaller room, there was a lot of noise as it was full of hungry diners. I found the other side of the restaurant later, and it was much quieter. They are hiring, and so the server is a little overwhelmed and yet still managed to be fairly prompt and remained calm, cheerful, and accommodating. A new favorite!
Great place in San clemente with parking lot ans street parking. The food was great and we just happened to show up on Wednesday wine night! Service was fast and the food was delicious. Shared a plate of meat and veggies (da biggest mixed plate) with my fiance and the amount and the variety of meats and flavors plus 3 sides (highly recommend the veggies) you get was great. Will def return!
This place is an absolute gem. Everything we got was so flavorful, absolutely delicious, and the portions were great! We got the pork sliders with the mac salad and the spam musubi with sausage as appetizers. The sliders were packed with pork, served with a generous portion of Mac salad. Then we split the shrimp po boy with fries. The fries were extra crispy and the po boy was served with a slaw and relish that were out of this world delicious. We finished with the bread pudding. It was a huge portion, served warm with strawberry slices, whip cream, and some sort of lemon custard, again all excellent. We went in for dinner on a Monday night and got all the happy hour deals which is the move. They were not busy and their happy hours deals are a huge money saver which encouraged us to try more things and I’m glad we did! It was all spectacular and I’m dying to go back!
Great little restaurant with a casual vibe. The menu makes you want to come back even before you order for the first time. I settled on the Kahlua Pork with fried rice and Mac salad Awesome! Great people, nice atmosphere, and really good food. My wife got the Shrimp Truck Special. She loved it-a tribute to the shrimp trucks in Hawaii. A must try if you’re in San Clemente.
We lived on Oahu for around 10 years so we decided to try Hapa J's. We were surprised by the portions and it was definitely worth the price. It really did remind us of all of the plate lunch places out there but better quality food here. We walked out with over half of our food in to go containers because we couldn't eat any more! Lol. Our service was also really good and very laid back. Anyone that's ever been to Hawaii will appreciate the chill atmosphere here. We will definitely go back!
I was surprised by how solid the ramen was. The pork was a bit overcooked/dry and cold when served, but everything else was well prepared and quite tasty. Great service and solid drink selections. It’s a quiet place overall. I would recommend checking it out. I’m excited to come back to try the curry.
Tried this new Ramen place last night. Very happy I did. Great food, very clean inside, and friendly people. The menu is very limited but they have the basics a few different ramen selections.
After being stuck in traffic I really appreciated hot and fresh food. It’s a cozy place with very customizable meals . The fried chicken was bland but crispy. Our server was super friendly !
Food is good and the portion to cost ratio is on point. The only problem I have is the ramen does not soak up any of the broths flavor which makes the noodles taste bland. Otherwise it's pretty good recommend to make or order thinner noodles so it soaks up the broths flavor
Tried going in solo for taco Tuesday. Not busy. Staff kept walking past without a nod. Bartender had a full deck. Didn’t notice me? Finally I just ordered to-go and went back to the hotel. The tacos were fantastic. Won’t be going back without my husband.
Had late lunch here on a Saturday, place looked pretty empty I am guessing it get packed later in the evening. The place was clean and big with a lot of seating. Service was good, they made sure our drinks were filled. As an appetizer I got the spam musubi, the order comes with two. They were good, I would have them again. For my main course I got the teriyaki beef bowl size, which is smaller than the full size, this size was a good enough amount for me. The taste was good. The plate comes with a side of rice and your choice between green salad or macaroni salad.
The ramen was mid. Hot house sake had actually gone bad (wet cardboard taste). Even the water didn't taste right. Service was good.
Went here for lunch on June 29th, ordered the nachos as an “appetizer” to share with all our family. Had no idea that nachos don’t come with some type of meat, so our server, Jessica, asked “what meat would you like”, we ordered the meat. A different waitress brings out the three meals for our three family members, they started eating, we waited for about 10 minutes till the appetizer that I specially asked to be brought out before our main dish came out in sync with our main dish. Ask for the bill, saw we were charged $28.98 for nachos because the “meat” was an add’l $12.00. I then brought this to the attention of our server and she said “meat is extra”. I then said “ok, but I ordered this as an appetizer, BEFORE, the main dishes came out and it was brought out late with our main dish which was by the way after everyone else who started to eat”. NOTE: since everyone already was eating their main dish, they didn’t eat the appetizer now 😔 She said NOTHING, just stared at me. No apology, nothing!! TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE, TERRIBLE WAY TO TREAT A GUEST. Which leaves me no other option then to leave very little tip and a bad review. Hopefully a lesson learned for Jessica and Happa J’s…. For me, I will NEVER go back!!
