We ordered amazing food- we ordered the Ultimate roll which was the best roll I’ve ever had and I love sushi. We also had sashimi platter and the sushi plate- everything was AMAZING and our waitress Martha was a gem! We will be coming back because Martha was so sweet and the food amazing. Def go here :)

We came to Downtown Sushi as a large party and we had a great time. We had reservations shortly after they opened so we were the only table there at the time. We ordered several appetizers and they came out hot and fresh. We had a few sushi rolls and soups and everyone's food was great. The service was very friendly and accommodating for our party. The atmosphere of the restaurant is interesting with many well done murals that you might find in an Italian church, but it makes a great conversation piece.

DT has been our go to place for delicious rolls. Ingredients are always fresh with the best quality. Chef Andy makes the best recommendations according to your taste. Definitely will keep coming for more 😋

Great place, Molly was so sweet and attentive. Food and drinks were so good and came out fast. The sushi chefs were also very nice and did a beautiful job. And the atmosphere was very calm and relaxing, we'll be back!

I made a reservation for my bf's birthday, and this place did not disappoint in the slightest! We started off w/oysters and a bunch of nigiri. Fish is excellent in quality and flavour. Alex, our sushi chef, was great to us.

Such excellent service. We went for their happy hour. Their restaurant look like the took over a Florentine area. But the food is amazing. I recommend their barracuda nigiri. Also the Gaslamp roll.

We had the Lemon tonight and a Kids Boat. The presentation was absolutely beautiful! The food tasted excellent and the service was top notch. Our server Marta was amazing! We will definitely come back here again!

Passed this place in our uber on our way to somewhere else but noticed the outside fire pit tables and decided to double back for dinner. So glad we did. The atmosphere is awesome! Service was terrific (thank you Mollie). Food was super fresh with a high end presentation. 10/10 would recommend!

Fish was fresh, flavors were well put together (you HAVE to get the hamachi carpaccio and save the sauce for your sushi), and the happy hour drink deals are some of the best we’ve found in town! Our server, Molly, made the experience even better.

Came here for the first time tonight and immediately was blown away by our amazing waitress Molly. Her attention to detail and helpful suggestions made the experience one I'm dying to come back for again. The food was really good and we cleared all 3 plates! Thank you Molly!!!! What an amazing experience especially with Marta taking such good care of us. The Red California Hand Roll was the bomb, packed full of fresh snowy fluffy crab. The Miso soup was savory and light and just perfectly seasoned. The fish was pristine in the Omakase Chirashi and the rice perfect. Lastly, sweet Mochi completed the perfect experience. Definitely our favorite meal in San Diego. Thank you-!

Been here a few times now, always have the nicest service and the food hasn’t disappointed yet! A little bit high on price but not unreasonable for the quantity and quality- beautiful plating of the Tower roll. Would love it if they played more tone-setting music to match the interior design instead of top radio pop hits though. No wait for a table Saturday evening at 6pm, food came out quick too.

Perfect location for dinner before a show across the street at historical Balboa Theatre. Hubby and I highly recommend and look forward to our next dinner at Downtown Sushi!

Hands-down one of the best sushi spots in San Diego. The quality of the fish is next-level fresh, and every plate that came out felt like it was made with intention, not rushed. The staff is friendly without hovering, and they actually seem to enjoy helping you pick things based on what you like.

Visiting from redondo beach and came across this sushi place. Sushi is my favorite food and I’m pretty picky. This place was so good! The hamachi carpaccio was stellar and my husband had the chicken teriyaki and the chicken was very tender. Molly was our server and she was so sweet warm and accommodating. 100% recommend you stop in.

cool little location, poke bowl was delicious and our server molly was a lot of fun! she had great recommendations and was very knowledgeable about the menu :) plating was gorgeous. definitely 5 star service!

It's very clear this place buys its reviews. Service was awful, food was mediocre. First hint this place was bad should have been how few people were in the restaurant. There were four tactive ables and two servers working. It took 15 minutes for us to be able to order any drinks. Our server was always off doing something else. Server couldn't tell us what was in the veggie hand roll. The food took ~30 minutes to arrive. The nigiri was not of high quality and the rice was overly sweet. The wasabi was bland. We wanted to order more items and asked for a menu. We waited about 10 minutes, saw our server chatting away with another colleague and asked if we could just order, since we had another engagement to go to. Server was rude and said she was coming soon. Menu never arrived, so we placed a blind order and immediately asked to pay. Yaki udon was bland but overly-sugared. Refills were never offered. I asked for more tea, it never arrived. We left. Terrible experience and will never visit again.
