JoYee's Dumpling House San Diego Reviews
So happy there is finally a decent Chinese restaurant opening up in this area!!. I’ve already been there twice. The environment is very clean and pleasant, and the staff is friendly. The food was good as well. The only tiny negative experience was that one of the hot pots we ordered was quite spicy and we couldn’t finish it, so be mindful of the spice level when ordering. It might be a good idea to double-check with the staff. I will definitely be coming back and highly recommend it to anyone craving good Chinese food and a nice dining experience.
Bravo. This place is affordable and the food is incredible. We got the Mongolian beef with bao tacos, insanely good. The soup dumplings were also amazing. mouth watering good. The place is clean and the service is friendly and prompt. No complaints. 5/5
I'm so excited to have a super tasty dumpling place in our neighborhood! We had Fried Buns, Shrimp and Pork Shumai, and the Cucumber salad. Everything was fresh and delicious, definitely needed a third person to help us finish but looking forward to leftovers!
The food is amazing—especially the beef noodle soup, which has a fantastic flavor. Plus, it’s super close to my home!
Wow, one of the best places to eat chineese.

You can tell the ingredients are fresh and everything is made to order, because ylu don’t get that sluggish feeling in your gut or that unsatisfying taste you get from processed food. I was shocked it has multiple locations. Because it definitely doesn’t taste like chain food. Service at Chinese places isn’t known for being warm and welcoming, especially toward people who don’t look visibly Asian like myself. But the manager explained and offered options in a thoughtful and sweet way that made me feel more welcome than usual. Lastly, the atmosphere – the gorgeous mid-century modern chairs, the custom walls, and warm color palette of the interior all made me feel like I was at a really nice restaurant. Justified the price because it did not feel like I was at a random dumpling house in City Heights by San Diego State so much as out on date night.
I had been craving dumplings for a while now, I decided to visit Joyees for my birthday dinner, and I loved every second of it. upon arriving there's a menu outside, which i enjoy walking in and already knowing what I want. there was a few other tables busy but not too much. it seemed like there was only one server who was taking care of everyone, after we arrived it got busier too but she still managed to do everything well. the food came out with little wait, the pork potsticker were so good, along with the beef and onion steamed dumplings. they provide chilli oil, soy sauce and balsamic vinegar to make your own sauce. although I do wish there were more option as I try to stay away from soy. my wife got the roasted duck & she really liked it too. I've thought about this restaurant just about every day since going. I plan to keep coming back
The good here is amazing and affordable. The cucumber salad was delicious. We ordered a beef "sandwich", cashew chicken, soup dumplings, bao. Everything was really good. Just wish they had more ginger/flavor in the soup dumplings. I like the frozen ones at Trader Joe's better 🤷🏼♀️ Service was excellent and friendly. Food was very delicious. I've already been back another time. Added shumai and a sweet dumpling. Both were so good! Must try this location.
This is the best meal I have ever gotten recently... I ordered the Mongolian beef with bun and lamb hot pot, ngl, I'm with smile every bite. And the place is really comfortable, the waitress(or the manager) had a good attitude I barely write comments in google review, but it's really really good. Absolutely will come back again. I am Chinese. Trust me ;)
Dumplings here are so good! Got a hot pot, soup dumplings, pork dumplings, egg rolls and cucumber salad. Highly recommend the hot pot and the pork dumplings. Good portion sizes, attentive service, nice space with plenty of seating. Love to have a good Chinese restaurant in the neighborhood!
The food was outstanding. The pork dumpling soup was a flavor explosion in your mouth. The garlic green beans were exceptionally good. This is a noodle place that is a gem.
Just go here! This place us amazing. The garlic green beans, pork soup dumplings, and hot pots were the best I have ever had. Every other item we had was great.
The scallion pancakes, pork soup dumplings kung pao chicken and sweet and sour pork are all absolutely delicious!! Will be ordering again.
Delicious food, friendly service. This place will be a big hit in the neighborhood. The beef and onion dumplings and beef roll were standouts, but don’t sleep on the fried rice!
Great authentically Chinese flavors - mapo tofu had some sichuan peppercorn, which often is missed. Would recommend it, great service and food
Really good food&tea. atmosphere is cool, service is awesome and it's completely recommended. Has great char siew buns. Soup dumplings are also amazing! This place is very affordable too And there's great service! A waitress immediately comes up and takes your order. This place is also never busy. 100% recommended to eat here

Super good, very happy to have a dumpling place closer to La Mesa and College area! Even happier that it is Good food! Good portion and great taste. I will be around this place often. 😃🙏🏽🫶🏽🙌🏽
The service here was great. Inside the ambience is simple and comfortable. I ordered the wonton soup... now if you're looking for your normal wonton soup this is not it. This is their style on it. Just a heads up in that. But it was still tasty, not mind blowing, but tasty. I would like to come back and try a few other things. Its just nice to have variety with tasty food in the college area.

Steamed dumplings tasted homemade and delicious. Mongolian beef with buns was our favorite. Seasoned and cooked well and the black pepper tasted so good with the dish. Fried buns were a huge disappointment. Tasted and smelled like deep fried donuts and the buns was too thick and the inside of it was soggy. Too much bun compared to the pork filling. But the biggest disappointment was the 15% cleaning fee automatically added to all dine in orders. Then the tip options are still added to the receipts. Also we didn’t get an itemized receipt, so if we didn’t see the sign at the register that the fee is included, we wouldn’t have known! We had to pay at the register because we waited for someone to check on our table but they kept passing our table. Anyhow, the cleaning fee is insulting as a customer. Cleaning is part of their job and we’re charged for it separately in a rather discrete way and they still want us to tip. This ridiculous hidden fee + tipping culture needs to stop.

Came here to check it out because I love dumplings and stereotypically this food is quick, tasty, and well priced.... i litterally got none of these. I got below average tasting soup dumplings that were over $15 after tax and tip, the pork buns sucked and lacked filling. Lastly, the vegetables i ordered lacked salt! Like I realize this place is extremely close to SDSU but if you can manage it just go somewhere else like Diamond Palace... This next bit is personal, but omg, the chairs are the worse! they are hard and will be tough if you're on the wider side which i am! the service was slow when the place was half emtpy... and I'm paying as much as i would at diamond palace! like idk what in the world this place is doing, but you either need to lower the price on your steamed goods or make it taste the price in paying worth it, in addition to make it must faster to get. I shouldn't be waiting 30 minutes for soup dumplings! And for the love of god change your chairs!

Pretty sure the dim sums were frozen. Inauthentic and pricey. Service was slow despite there being only around 4 people in the restaurant. There's also a minimum 15% gratuity for any sized parties. My husband and I paid 70 bucks for a medicore meal, not worth it at all.

I honestly feel scammed out of $40. The Dan Dan noodles were literally just dry noodles (no sauce) with a few peanuts thrown in it. I can boil plain noodles at home for free. And the mapo tofu and potstickers were meh.
