Subterranean Coffee Boutique San Diego Reviews
First time here and it didn’t disappoint. We had a latte, a hummus vegan wrap and a side salad. The vibe is chill with people working with laptops and couples chatting over coffee. Speaking of, my oat milk latte was delish and the girl behind the counter today was a hero because it got busy and she was alone. We agreed it had a distinctive Portland vibe to it aka very authentic and chill atmosphere simplistic, rustic and delish. Reasonable for what you get! Sandwich was $12 side salad $3 Large latte $7 we split it all and were full and happy!
I came here this morning. I wanted to try their coffee. I just got a simple latte and my girlfriend got a vanilla latte. We ordered a club sandwich too. The flavor of the coffee was really good just by itself. I highly recommend you give it a try. The club sandwich they used some sort of thousand Island dressing I believe and that was a really good touch to the sandwich. The theme of the coffee shop was pretty cool too and the service was really good. I will be coming back again. Thank you very much.
Decided to give this Cafe a try when we were in the area. Very chill vibes and the food was wonderful! The gentleman that served us/made our food was very nice as well. I definitely want to go back and try some coffee drinks next time~
So glad I checked this place out! I ordered the lox bagel and it was delicious. They are generous with the lox and it was made perfectly. It was super filling. For $9.50 it was a great price. The parking lot in the back was closed but I found street parking right across the back lot. People working here are incredibly friendly and it seems like they have a lot of regulars. Most bad reviews on this page are about a long wait and it's true, it does take a while even when it is not busy. So don't come if you are in a hurry. It took 20 minutes to get my bagel but it was worth it!
This "coffee boutique" is a definite must -stop if you're in North Park. I had the Mexican mocha - YUM! I'd always wondered about the quality of Abuelita chocolate since I'm still discovering more and more about Mexican. But, OMG, it was fire! The lusciousness of that chocolate...wow! I need to head straight to the store and get some of it! My husband had the mocha with Reeces. Peanut butter explosion! He was a happy guy. My mom enjoyed a decaf Americano, which she described as "not bitter and very hot." Please take note that the parking situation is a challenge, putting it mildly. I have an 80-year-old mother and my own disability to take into consideration. I wish I'd known about the parking and entrance behind the store. That said, we were able to park around the corner, which was only a few steps away. It has a nice vibe to it. The menu is very vegan and gluten-free friendly, including the donuts! We would've stayed, but we had take-out in the car; otherwise, we would've stayed. Definitely have to keep this on the list.
Love this place. I've been coming here for years. Fast Wi-Fi and great coffee. Try their home made pop tarts if you really want something awesome! The bagels are delicious. One of my favorite lox bagels in San diego.
Nice place in North Park to study, sip a coffee and eat breakfast. I really love the atmosphere here. They have a big drink & food menu as well. I had a bagel this time for breakfast, it’s a mozzarella & spinach bagel. The portion is very big for a very reasonable price. The taste is nice too. I will come back here for sure.
A local coffee shop with a gritty/alternative feel. Lots of colorful clientele enjoying a good book or a laptop session. All the food is reasonably priced and they have some specialty drinks you won't find anywhere else! They brew Bird Rock Coffee. Their chocolate chip coffee cake was pretty much the best thing in the world.
I really liked this place. I was pleasantly surprised by the lox bagel. It was made to order and the bagel itself was surprisingly fresh. It was made a bit differently with basil, grilled red onion, and perhaps olive oil but somehow really worked. My iced coffee had slight sour notes which I don’t tend to like but in this case also somehow worked. Very cool atmosphere too. I would love to come here again.
We rented out the place through PeerSpace for my Daughter's Seeet 16 party!! It was perfect!!
one of my favorite spots in sd to take a book, get a smoothie, and get some work done. plenty of seating, vegan/vegetarian options. my go to is the 4 layer bagel (with spinach) n literally any smoothie. a local business im happy to support.
Love their british latte! We can tell they’re definitely on a busy end so no latte art for us but the coffee taste is still 👌🏼👌🏼 my husband got the white blackberry mocha and it was also rich in taste and aroma. For the food, we tried their pan de sal and lox bagel. If you’re Filipino and grew up with pan de sal, their pan de sal sandwich will be a nostalgic one for you! Can’t get more Filipino than a scrambled egg with tomato and spam! Their lox bagel was delicious too. I was hesitant to try anything fishy while I’m sipping on a delicious cup of coffee but if you love fish, bagel and cream cheese, this is it!

Incredibly spacious coffee shop in the heart of North Park; The Best Coffee Shop in North Park for studying, reading a book, answering emails, playing pinball, catching a comedy show, and everything in between!!!

I love this place and have been coming here since the opened. They're one of the first places to put lavender permanently on their menu and I come here at least a couple of times a month. The owner and staff are friendly. Couldn't recommend it enough.
Came in today on a rainy day and was served an ambience of cozy in a cup! The black sesame latte was divine as well as the coconut Chai. The atmosphere was warm and intimate. Perfect way to embody a cozy, rainy day.
great food and coffee! super chill I usually go there to print stuff. that cookie coffee cake is wickedly amazing!!
Excellent coffee. Bagel was fresh with generous cream cheese (I'm a fan). And the guy behind the counter was kind and responsive. Good vibes all around!
Feels like the awesome 90s coffee shop of our youth. Dark enough to see your computer screen. Good coffee. Friendly service.

Perfect place to study or work. The staff is so friendly. My vegetarian bagel was really good but latte was okay.
This shop is such a cozy lovely place. Absolutely love the decor. The fish tank and Godzilla pinball machine were probably my favorite. The barista was super nice and happy to answer questions about non dairy\vegan options. Will definitely be back since it's in the neighborhood.

I came here with a friend, we got two muffins and they were pretty bad, but the drinks were even worse. Not coming back, though the service was super sweet.
