Very impressed with this place and will be going back. Tasteful, small dining area, was greeted immediately after entering, hot hand towels before the meal, quick food service, and food was delicious. Recommend the cheesecake over the creme brûlée. Only feedback is that we had to call the waiter to take our order because it was taking a while for the waiter to come back around for the order

Fantastic food in a beautiful restaurant with friendly staff. The sushi set I had was one of the best I've had in the city. The sushi in the set was fresh and high quality, and the flavors were great! Also, the amber lager they had as party of the happy hour special was delicious. I'm definitely looking forward to coming back again soon!

Had dinner here sitting at the bar. Food was terrific (tempura and tonkatsu) and very much enjoyed watching the chefs prepare different sushi rolls with fresh seafood.

We are happy to have stopped in. Yelp wins again. Saw it had a high rating and had to go check it out. They have the convenient option to make reservations on Yelp and we were able to walk right in and they sat us. The staff was pleasant and helpful. We were quite undecided and there were so many yummy options. We gave the server 3 options and let him make the choice for us- it was fun & he was a great sport! ALL the sushi, miso, appetizers, and bento boxes we got were delicious. The place was cute and cozy. Great music on in the background. I definitely recommend checking them out.

Quality and reasonable price Japanese cuisine in town. I tried Saba on my 1st visit, the taste was unforgettable🤩 so tender and mouthwatering….love it! Chef is super friendly and passionate in pursuing real Japanese cooking details. Your tongue can tell. Last week tried sushi combo 🍣🍙😋which is Hokkaido style sushi. In fact, I love their Fresh Wasabi, very special and refreshing! The chef recommended me to try his Shokado set 🍱….to be updated. Try their dessert cream brûlée was soooo smooth😱, and nice aroma especially eating with 🍓 strawberriey

Super reasonably priced happy hour specials. Incredibly fresh fish. Nothing I would change about this establishment. Shout out to our server Alex who absolutely crushed it. Watched him wait on 7+ tables comprised of 15 people by himself…. And had top shelf game the entire time. Cheers!

This was one of the best experiences I've had at a restaurant. Everyone that worked there was very friendly, welcoming, and nice. And they did all that without bugging us too much. You can tell they take pride in their restaurant. They greet you with warm smiles and are attentive. Then the food....it was wonderful. My new favorite sushi spot. The fish was fresh and served with style. And the spicy black cod appetizer was so good! Better than calamari any day but served in a similar way. We will be back again and thank the staff for such a great experience.

Excellent place to enjoy high level sushi-food and services wise. Beautiful interior area at the heart of San Francisco with lots of menu choices for each taste and fast response from service. I highly recommend. Although it wasn’t a cheap dining, I totally recommend this experience.

Came here after concert in the neighborhood and were able to get a late last minute table reservation online. Sushi is fresh and the rolls have creative twists. Really enjoyed the Akira Cucumber roll and Black Spider roll. Tempura Udon was piping hot and crisp fresh veggies. Sake, Hamachi and Saba very fresh nigiri. The chef and staff are very attentive and friendly. Really happy we were able to eat here and will definitely return..

This is the must go to Japanese restaurant in the bay area. Would recommend seating at the bar if you don't have the reservation and watch the chef prepare his specials. The wasabi is made fresh ground in house and it's just delightful. Everything is fresh but I highly recommend nigiri and the Adagashe tofu. The nigiri was great. The peacock roll was okay.

Unbelievable service very professional and kind. Fish was super fresh. We got to watch it be prepared right in front us. Happy hour (ends at 630pm) allowed for unbeatable prices.

I promise you, you will never get better service from any restaurant then you will at Akira. Our server was so welcoming, friendly and gave us so many on the house items. We ordered sake which was so fun, and rolls were amazing. We had such an amazing time. Dog friendly too which is always a very added bonus for me. You should definitely go if you are craving yummy sushi :)

This restaurant is wonderful and open for lunch and dinner. The food is excellent, the service is warm and it's a lovely environment. I go every week and order the salmon teriyaki, salad, miso soup, rice – lunch plate. Check out this great photo!

Good presentation and friendly staff! The Black Spider Roll wasn't to my taste as it was quite salty and one-noted. However, the other rolls and the Unagi Don were delicious. While the portion sizes are small for the price, the clean and dainty interior made for an overall pleasant experience.

Lowkey place to eat good Japanese food. Good quality with fair portion. We had Pink Dragon rolls, Seared Salmon Belly roll and chicken teriyaki for main course and calamari, agedashi tofu and fried chicken for appetizers. They were all very good. I'd like to point it out that the agedashi tofu was specially good. I even ordered an extra one after my dinner. It comes with the perfect sauce and bonito flake on top, but for my surprise it also comes with Japanese eggplant tempura and green bean tempura on the plate. Great combination and presentation. The service is really cordial and friendly. Really happy with this experience!

Decent sushi with a good variety of roll options. For how much they cost I was a little disappointed at how small the appetizers were but I still enjoyed it.

Sushi was good but I’ve had better at this price point, especially the otoro. Karate and fresh wasabi were also good. No complaints but wouldn’t be back.

A nice Japanese restaurant. The best thing about it is the service. The atmosphere is nice and calm. Rolls were good, not very big for the price though. Soups are ok. I recommend.

The service was attentive, I met the owners, who are so kind, and do charity work! The food however, was just mediocre, and I know good sushi. Just acceptable sushi robbed me of a wonderful experience, and I can't forgive the chef for that. Great atmosphere, and company, and a decent alcohol list. Desserts were underrepresented. $$ out of $$$$$ Street parking. Not wheelchair accessible. Clean bathrooms.
