Buddha San Francisco Reviews
Great old bar remodeled in the past few years. The bartender has been there nearly 30 years and is beloved on the block. Do yourself a favor and descend into the bathroom... A great place to lay like a rock on the bottom of the river and let the current flow over you.
This was a really nice small intimate hang out to drop in on while in Chinatown. Staff is extremely friendly, I was told it is a 3rd generation family operated bar that originally opened in the 60s.
Small bar, but a nice atmosphere with friendly staff
Stumbled upon this spot after eating dinner across the street, loved the vibe, the music selection, the bartender was friendly and awesome! We live in SF so we'll definitely be back
If you want a place that's super real and totally upfront, look no further! It's cleaner than your Instagram feed after you've unfollowed your ex. The service is so fast it's like your Wi-Fi on a sugar rush. The music is lit, and I even copped a hoodie – perfect for flexing in unpredictable weather and surviving the freezing office chills. 😍🔥
This place is great. It was very clean. It was the cleanest around the whole block. I think the countertop was made of some kind of stone, but it felt very clean and the vibe was good.
Awesome family-owned bar. Dive bar ambiance while being incredibly clean. Their take on a Chinese Mai Tai was excellent and the Lychee Martini was soooo good. Thanks to our bartender for making it such a great night as we waited for our show to start down the road. We’ll definitely be back!

Cutest little bar in Chinatown, the bartender is a good time! Pores generous shots! Will be back!
Rumor has it that Buddha took Jesus here to toast Chuck Norris while praising Bruce Lee. I believe it
Awesome spot to get a decently priced beer or shot of whiskey. Classic dive bar vibes, Patrick reminded me of a friend from home. Would go back
Pat and Max are the best bartenders I’ve met. Come to Buddha for vibes, friendship, cheap drinks and a jukebox
This place is amazing. The vibe is great. Thanks for letting me play Fat Pat!
Was in SF for a bachelor party and this place became our highlight. Despite being right on the main Chinatown walk, it was a wonderful little hideaway during the day. Stepping from the loud and busy street into the dark quiet was very relaxing and during the busy hours of the evening it had a fun lively atmosphere. Shoutout to the coolest bartender in the Bay Area!

Friendly staff who are happy to give reccomendations for the area (both for food, bars etc as well as "cultural" advice). Reasonably priced. Nice vibe. Music, but not too loud. Cool rural on the floor you enter in.
We wanted to go to a bar after our dinner in North Beach. This was a 5 minute walk. It had seats available so we grabbed it quickly. Good thing that we did as it got crowded quickly. They didn’t have beer on tap and the white wine selection was only a Sauvignon Blanc. No rose or Chardonnay. If you go, you need to try the Buddha beer. (Tastes like a Tsingtao.) Update: Came here on a Sunday. They normally close at 6pm but we stayed a bit longer as the bartender was closing up.
Great little place. Really small with a lovely bartender. Great sake and "herbs" to drink. It's not marijuana just some fermented herbs. Ask about it. Great place to rest your feet while having an afternoon drink.

I am a Buddhist and I wanted to see if there was anything inside that was disrespectful to Buddhism. There are various Buddhist images on the walls, but I didn’t feel that anything was disrespectful. I follow the fifth precept strictly so I don’t drink alcohol, so I wasn’t able to patronize the bar.
Buddha beers are so refreshing... Always enjoy stopping for a libation here when we''re in Chinatown. Great bar setup for liar's dice too!

Although cocktails are good, this is NOT a bar where you go if you want to have a Chinatown experience.

I asked a bartender for a mineral water. He refused to sell it to me. I was very confused, until I realized he was either drunk or high. He thought I am asking for free water, which he actually also supposed to give to customers. Never coming to this place again.

The bartender was kind of a jerk. I spend over 20$ on the jukebox box and he skipped my music to play the young ladies sitting next to me music first. Then he just completely turned it off 🙄 and claimed I spent nothing because I didnt walk to the jukebox... like if an app didnt exist HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE HE SAID " no no im not doing that" and I now feel like no no I dont wanna pay
We were visiting from out of town and walked in to the rudest bartender I have ever experienced. Don’t waste your time here- we had a blast at LiPos down the street.
This is a tourist trap. Looks like an old Chinatown bar but it’s just white tech bros or tourist that go in there. The bartender was a tall blond guy. Waited 20 minutes to get a beer but all the white guys got served first even all the guys behind me. Just dipped
