Holy Water San Francisco Reviews
Come here and give your prayers to Holy Church. 🙏😜. Great neighborhood bar. Great atmosphere. Great selection of drinks with religious inspired names. Great place for a Friday happy hour after work with good company 😉
Stopped into Holy Water in San Francisco to meet a friend before dinner, and it was perfect. We grabbed seats at the bar and could easily catch up — not loud at all, just a relaxed neighborhood vibe. It definitely seems like a local favorite; as we were heading out, we passed at least four dogs, and a couple even had their own dog beds. I didn’t check out the beer list (not even sure if they have one), but the draft selection had exactly what I was looking for. Great spot, great atmosphere. I’ll definitely be back the next time I’m in town.
A favorite always! I used to live in the neighborhood but will always come back and hang at Holy Water. They put so much thought into their cocktails, tap list, decor, menus, glassware — it’s just a whole moody vibe and they continue to get better as time goes on.
Fall on your knees! O hear the angel voices! Or, you know, pull up a stool and order a drink. An exceptional cocktail can feel like a religious experience, and you will certainly have one here. Phenomenal cocktails, great craft beer selection, highly skilled and friendly staff, and just a casual amount of religious decor. Holy Water is up there with the best.
I’ve told many people that this was my favorite bar in the city and they’re shocked that it’s a seemingly small hole in the wall in a sleepier part of town. That’s precisely its charm. Holy Water has very intimate but welcoming vibe- the decoration and the people are all top notch. The selection of beer is top notch. The bourbon, rye, scotch whisky selection is top notch and actually quite affordable. It’s never too crowded and you can even bring food in. What more can one ask for?
Nice bar in mission with reasonably priced cocktails. There is no waiter so everyone just seats themselves at either a table or at the bar. We tried four different cocktails and they were all very delicious and uniquely flavored. They did get my boyfriends order wrong but he ended up enjoying the drink
When you go holla at Chris for me and to tip him will. He was surgical when it came to making cocktails. how he can work on 3 and 4 at a time amazed me. He's friendly and social. The ambiance is just wow. The dark Christmas lights and lantern lit place is where you want to be!
Truly amazing neighborhood bar with a wonderful atmosphere. The beers on tap are eclectic and delicious. Service was excellent and spirit selection was excellent. We will be back next time we are in SF
Are you a lapsed catholic? Do you miss the vibe of going to church with your grandparents? Maybe you’re looking for a spectacular whiskey selection, or to try some off the chain local beers. Look no further. The atmosphere here is one-of-a-kind and the ambiance is uniquely unhinged (in a good way). The Bourbon tastings hosted here are phenomenal, and the staff is highly skilled.
This was such a cool bar. The cocktails were fantastic. The ambience was fantastic and the patrons were fantastic. What was not fantastic was climbing the hill to reach said bar. I absolutely love going here and I’m looking forward to stopping by on my next trip.
Super great vibes and our incredibly friendly server, John, made great suggestions of cocktails based off of our preferences. Very creative, lots of options, and not too busy when we were there on a Monday afternoon. Huge bonus that they are open earlier than most other bars in the area, which don't open until 5:00 p.m. Not being local, John also gave great recommendations for amazing spots we had to check out in the area - he guided us to a quick hiking trail off Cortland through this Jasmine plant that led to a secret pathway up to a looking point with basically 360° views of the entire city.
My fiancé loves craft beer and he was very happy here! I like the occasionally fruity cocktail and got a great piña colada! The atmosphere is great—it’s dark (mood lighting) but they have great string lights across the ceiling that add a nice touch. The glasses and art on the wall really hone in the theme.
The staff is friendly and skilled at making amazing cocktails, they always have a great beer selection that rotates including takeaways, ample enough seating that even when absolutely packed you can usually get a seat in a few minutes. The decor is unique and amazing (especially during the holidays, which you may have carolers stop by!).
This bar hits all of the marks for us! Fantastic beer selection from local craft breweries, a creative and tasty cocktail menu with great variety, and an extensive bottle list featuring many of our favorites. It's like someone made our ideal bar. I wish we lived closer!
One of the best on-tap beer selections around. Atmosphere depends on the day. I've been on quiet weekday nights and also on busy weekend new beer releases. They both have different attractiveness
Probably my favorite bar in the city – outstanding mixology, great service, and a very fun space/vibe. Try the “After the Gold Rush” 🤤 Oh and take an Uber, because you won’t be safe to drive afterwards 🤪

I had a cocktail that combined rum, banana, and lemon. Weird right? But it was amazing. Incredibly creative cocktails

One of the best/strong drinks in Sf. So in other bars usually either drink is taste so good but not strong or drink is strong but taste is not good. This bar knows how to do great cocktails. They have good bartenders and ambiance is lovely too.
Headline: I found Jesus in the bar tonight and it was good. No it was not some long haired patron but instead this awesome themed bar in San Francisco. This place had a nice chill vibe despite being crazy busy. We were still able to find some decent seats and bask in the glow of good old JC. The place almost had a hall in the wall vibe with the twinkle lights but still boasted an impressive selection of drinks. Despite how busy it was, the staff was super friendly and bartenders were moving fast through the requests. Sometime at a bar you can feel ignored but it was not like that here. Cellphone signal is not great but they have wifi inside as well.

Bartenders were rude. Drinks were good but nothing special. but they claim to be dog friendly but it’s not a good environment for anything other than a small dog. The bartenders are rude and make a lot of noise
This is my neighborhood bar, and I want to like it, but the acoustics are terrible. I get migraines in here but I love the drinks and wish I could come in without getting a headache every time and shouting to hear friends
