Hôtel Biron San Francisco Reviews
I love this place because it’s so quaint and relaxed, yet offers so many worldly wines. Staff and patrons are kind and cool too!
Always the best kept secret in town I've been going here for 10 years! He never lets me down. The owner is awesome! Thanks again from @gameofseasons
Nice and cosy wine bar in Hayes. Good choice of wine, beer and finger food. Owner/staff were super cool

Charming little space to drink and chat, passionately kept alive by regular-cum-owner Ron, and the devoted team around him. I first visited Hôtel Biron in pre-history (read: around 2003), and have had the privilege of returning to the bar after some twenty years in exile from San Francisco. The work of local artists still graces the walls, conversation flows as freely as wine, and an abiding love for the community echoes loudly through the many events the bar hosts. Sporting a fabulous by-the-glass program (and a killer happy hour), Hôtel Biron offers a lovely selection of wine, vermouth, sake, and beer, all at friendly prices. If you're looking to celebrate, one should not overlook the humble "Chambong" – just don't be surprised when the staff start chanting, and everyone else in the bar seems to join in the fun.
If you’re looking for a cozy home away from home experience, this is your place. The staff and new owner are so kind and welcoming. I see regulars there that come time and time again. This place holds a real sense of community and inclusion. The wine selection is excellent and diverse. They also have rotating local artists showcasing their art I always love to see. I love seeing that they have a lot of new fun events like a wine tasting class and bringing in serious food talent to some of their events.
Beautiful little gem of a wine bar! Lovely service—the owner Ron is super passionate and knowledgable about wine, and cares deeply about making Hotel Biron the best experience it can be. Beautiful local art on the walls too. A cozy, wonderful experience. Good selection of NA drinks as well!
Lovely little wine bar on a hidden alley in Hayes Valley. Friendly staff and great wines! Perfect for a first date or a quick glass of wine before heading out to one of the many wonderful restaurants in the neighborhood. A true local treasure!
great community atmosphere. I’m visiting from atlanta ga. My son is in a beautiful photography show Ron put together,
Thrilled that my beloved local, one of the best wine bars in SF, is open for business! Same comfy environment, excellent wine list (plus beer, vermouth, and sake), and friendly, knowledgeable service. Visited last night and it was delightful.
This is my favorite wine bar in San Francisco. The eclectic and well curated wine list is best paired with their amazing cheeses (I recommend the triple cream and the hard aged Swiss). The dreamy bartender Chris makes it a moSt excellent experience.
This is top 5 places to go in SF. Off the beaten path, always space for a small group. Really love it. Great for date night too. Pro tip: if you tell the bartender what you like, they will let you try a couple of different wines by the class before you have to commit!
Hôtel Biron feels like a hidden pocket of the city where the night slows down and the world softens a bit. The dim light, the brick, the curated art on the walls—it all hits with this warm, lived-in charm that makes you want to stay longer than you planned. The owner Ron and bartenders are the heartbeat here. Warm, real, and genuinely happy to guide you through the wine list like old friends. No ego, no performance—just people who love what they do and make you feel taken care of. The wine selection is thoughtful and full of surprises, the kind that makes you pause for a second because it’s that good. It’s a cozy, art-soaked refuge in the middle of SF. Can’t recommend it enough.
This cozy wine bar is lovely. Ron, the owner, served Trinidadian curry at the 1 year re-opening anniversary to honor his heritage. My family and I are from Trinidad so we came to support him. We found a new favorite spot! Ron, his partner Joanne, and bartender Christina are really nice and the wine selection is interesting and delicious. Be sure to ask about the "secret wine" of the night. It was a gem!
Great place for a chill evening on a date or with friends. They have a very nice selection of wine/beer including non-alcoholic options.
This place is super chill. I really liked the low lighting that gave the environment a cozy feel. The bartender was very attentive and inviting. Definitely coming back with friends.
Had a great time! Staff were super friendly, and the owner gave me a great recommendation on wine. Great atmosphere and art. Will definitely be back.
Lovely ambiance, cozy vibe, great place for a date. Unique wines, revolving local art, and community vibes. Welcoming and down to earth Proprietor and staff. Love this place!
This place is awesome! I went last night and I happen to meet the owner... ended up staying for a few hours and the staff, owner, and regulars who came in were all really great! Feels like a cozy community oasis in the middle of SF. Good for a date night as well, as they have plenty of good wine, intimate spots, and it's not too loud! Def go!

Great wine bar in a nondescript alley. Their charcuterie and cheese selection is great!

Sunday evening. What a beautiful spot. Fantastic art. Dimly lit. Miserable and wildly rude bartender. Asked about the happy hour menu and he was not impressed with the question, was a total drag to answer. Weird music (and that’s coming from a weird music fiend- it was just… odd and jarring). Would totally go back to give it another go, but if Captain Can’t Be Bothered to be remotely pleasant to the only two customers is working, nope, walking right back out. Left a big tip anyway because that’s how we do in the service industry. Skip the “salty veggie chips “ Otherwise, perfect ambiance as far as decor/ visual vibe.
