Local Roots was awesome. Open early and the service was excellent. I did only get a smoothie but it was so good that I came back 3 days in a row while on a work trip.

Good lunch spot, walking distance from a bunch of places in downtown. Had a couple of appetizing vegan options. I chose the meatloaf sandwich and was pleasantly surprised.

Great service and friendly. Food is so good and ingredients so fresh. Love their coffee. Breakfast burritos and their avocado toast are my favorite for breakfast.

The staff were so friendly and polite especially the Arab lady she gave us free Caesar salad because we were only asked about it and then we decided to not order it, then she brought it to our table to taste it!🙏🏻

I was visiting from Toronto and this place was awesome. Great food and great smoothies. The service was some of the best and friendliest I had in SF. I ate here every morning after I found it. Would recommend.

Local Roots is a great spot downtown for lunch. The food is delicious and feels so healthy. The wait can be a bit long because it’s often packed, but it’s worth the wait. Or, plan ahead and order online!

One of the best salad places in the city, by far. So much better than mixed. Their salads are fresh, organic and the ingredients are awesome. Also they have a great space and isn’t noisy

A really wonderful spot tucked away off California Street! I enjoyed building my own salad bowl. They have plenty of topping options and protein choices for omnivores and vegetarians alike. I've tried the California Curry and River Market salads, and they were both flavorful and fresh. The sandwiches also look delicious and are pretty large. They are open for takeout and online ordering during COVID. They even have some tables and chairs to sit at on Leidesdorff (the alleyway). When I went they had hand sanitizer out, which was nice to see. Give them a visit if you're in the area!

I really love this spot, the staff is always soooo friendly and welcoming and the food is really fresh. They have great breakfast sandwiches and make a solid London fog. Prices are super reasonable too, especially for the amount of food you get

Stopped by while visiting San Fran from Oregon and it was our favorite food stop in the city! We ordered breakfast burritos, an iced latte and a lemon bar (plus a fruit cup for our pug!) and everyone was sooo nice and the food was wonderful. Best lemon bar I’ve ever had!

Local Roots by Opa Café is fantastic. We ordered the Turkey Club, Chicken Pesto Sandwich, Mediterranean Bowl, and California Curry Bowl—every dish was fresh, flavorful, and super satisfying. The space looks great, the vibe is welcoming, and the staff is genuinely kind and attentive. Awesome spot for lunch —highly recommend!

This place is a hidden gem in San Francisco! It’s a family-owned business, and you can really feel the love and care they put into everything—from the warm welcome when you walk in to the way they make sure you’re happy with your meal. The food is absolutely delicious, fresh, and made with attention to detail. It’s the kind of spot that reminds you why it’s so important to support local, family-run places. They truly go above and beyond to take care of their customers. I’ll definitely be coming back, and I highly recommend you give them a try!

A couple of friends and I went to Local Roots for lunch today. We all ended up ordering the Monster burrito special. In many ways, it is just a regular burrito; rice, black beans, chicken, white cheddar, salsa, etc. wrapped in a spinach tortilla. But there are also some differences. The ingredients are fresher than a lot of cantinas, and there it is noticeably less salty. You can also change things up a little; add some fresh spinach, or cauliflower, etc. We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch. The dining area isn't as loud as a lot of the other lunchtime spots in downtown. The service is also friendly and fast.

If you work downtown and are looking for an actual healthy lunch spot, your prayers have been answered...LOCAL ROOTS IS THE BEST! They have incredibly fresh options for salads and sandwiches. They have rotisserie chicken going all day and cut it up right in front of you, it's so fresh and yummy! They also have the same for steak and salmon. I was really looking for a place where I could get some chicken and healthy sides and this is it! They also have a great selection of fresh made juices, oilipops / poppi drinks (literally every flavor), desserts, and chips! On top of it all, the staff is SO NICE and hardworking...you feel so good supporting this family business. I look forward to seeing them almost every day for lunch...my go-to is a cesar salad with chicken! You're welcome to advance ;)

Took me 3 visits / meals to figure the style. I enjoyed locally rooted, but not mediterranean & superfood. The portion size is large, which I think demands more dressing.

Great lunch option. Very fresh ingredients and interesting salad styles. I got the kale base w curry style and chicken, but would probably try another flavor next time as I did not like this one that much. Huge portions, fair pricing! Staff is very kind and peppy; they seem to have a lot of regulars.

Such a shame ..this was my go to for breakfast burritos in DT but today I went and they went from 9.99 to 11.99 and now to add meat any meat its 2 extra dollars. With tip for the exact same burrito plus tip I paid damn near $17. Staff is friendly. And while I understand raising prices nothing on the burrito has changed. Lol. Back to Cafe venu I go.

I had a bowl with sweet potato, chicken, and and over easy egg. The sweet potato was raw and crunchy, the chicken and egg were dry and overcooked, and the amount of oil was insane. They’ve managed to make a “healthy” bowl unhealthy with the pool of oil at the bottom. They also couldn’t find my order even though I had confirmation it was ready for pickup.
