Marnee Thai San Francisco Reviews
We absolutely loved the food here!!! We ordered a bunch of things that were all delicious but the very favorite starters were the coconut hotcakes on the specials menu and the roti with curry appetizer. I had yellow pumpkin curry with tofu that I could eat every day of my life, and my daughter ate every bite of her pad ke mao. And my uncle adored his grilled pork belly. The Thai iced tea was also one of the best we've had in the states.
Food is great, the chicken satay is pretty darn good, but don’t sit in that weird corner. And I wish the seats were more comfortable. But it’s definitely nice how close it is to the park.
I had a great experience at Marnee Thai today! I picked up food a couple nights ago and it was so amazing i needed to go back. As usual it was packed full of people, probably because the food and service is great. I made a mistake and ordered from the wrong location. When I arrived and found out my food was at another the other resteraunt, they called the owner and he called me personally and offered to make my food again at no charge. I was so impressed! I took my food to UCSF where i have been living for the last two weeks and had dinner with my wife. It was exactly how I expected it to be, AMAZING! I will not forget this great service and food. THANK YOU Manee Thai!
Food: I got the Kang Dang curry, and it was labeled medium spicy, but it gave my taste buds a run for their money! You buy the rice separately, with options for white or brown, but the brown looks like wild rice. My husband got a plate with scallops, shrimp, and curry, which was also delicious. Gluten free: At the time I went, the waitress said I can eat most anything except the chicken and duck. I understood that as any curry and From the Wok section, as well as noodle dishes. Basically, you have plenty of options! Service: The service was a little slow, but they were constantly doing something, so that's not really on them. Atmosphere: As soon as you walked in, the delicious aroma overwhelms and entices you! The music was a good level and the lighting was nice as well.
go to thai place because i’ve tried a different dish every time and honestly have never tried something i didn’t like— which if you’re indecisive like me is a dream come true. just go with whatever your stomach is telling you because honestly all their descriptions sound good on the menu. so if you’re curious about something new but don’t know if you should stray from the dependable favorites of pad thai, tom yum, pad se ew etc. take the leap.
I have to say, competition among restaurants is the best thing for customers. I live in a neighborhood where you can find five different Thai restaurants, in addition a few Korean and Chinese restaurants. However, I just love Thai food. So, why os competition so good for us food lovers? Well, at first it was Marneee Thai, years ago. Then their customer service and quality of food went down a few years back. Then the completion opened shop at various places. Then the pandemic hit. Once it was safe to go out again, I tried various Thai restaurants in my neighborhood. One of them was of excellent quality, better than OSHA Thai, which has no restaurant in my area. Their food was two classes better than I was used from Marnee Thai. I gave them a rave review. And then magic happened. I tried Marnee tonight, and I was totally surprised about the quality of their dishes. No more greasiness. No more poor service. No more overcooked rice. Everything was not just perfect for my taste. It was the first time that I tasted Thai food of such unexpected quality. It even tasted healthy. I had ordered three main dishes and my favorite dessert, sticky rice with mango. Every single dish was a symphony of flavor, color, and fragrance. The ingredients were absolutely fresh. The sticky rice with mango contained double the mango of competitors. And it was the ripe and juicy kind. What shall I say? Hi five to true competition and to the fact that competitors know about each other and then try to outclass each other.
We tried their special steamed snapper wrapped in banana leaf which was pretty good. The corn fritters were okay. Unfortunately they don’t take food allergies seriously. Despite mentioning shellfish allergy and gluten intolerance, kept bringing out the wrong order. The busyness of the restaurant gets to the servers I think. Though overall the final meal was enjoyable and wish they would take better note of food allergies of customers.
Went to have lunch. Food was good Ordered the Banana Curry and L Pad Kee Mao Price for Banana Curry was listed as $12.50. Was charged 21.95. Shared my concerns with the waitress. But unfortunately, she seemed afraid to ask the manager to go in and refund the mistaken pricing. I get it because within different cultures. There might be more fear regarding job security. Nonetheless, I contacted the owner and the owner apologized. And she refunded the amount that I was charged. And for that, I am grateful. Just wish that the waitress was not afraid of her manager. But what can you do?
If you like Thai Food then search no further, this spot is among the top in the city when it comes to pad see ew for sure! I will have to return to try more and I’ll be back soon. Angel Wings to start and they were delicious! Crispy Outside with a not to sweet sauce with nice size juicy chicken wings. Pad See Ew for the entree and it was very good, huge portion. Chicken was very fresh along with the veggies and it wasn’t dry. Flavor was good. I will definitely recommend this Thai spot to others!
The thai food was very tasty and flavourful. The veggie pad kee mao and it had a lot of veggies and tofu. The spring fried rice was also pretty good. For appetizers we had imperial rolls and roti kanai. The roti kanai was not good as the roti was too oily. You will feel the aromas as soon as you enter which is amazing. The place is a little cramped up through with tables too close to each other. I would recommend for good food but not for a great ambience.
We dined at Marnee Thai and had a mixed experience. The ambiance was delightful. Convenient parking near Golden Gate Park added to the overall accessibility. We tried a variety of dishes, and while the Pad Kee Mao stood out with its delicious flavors, the Roti Kanai fell short. Priced at around $12, the Roti Kanai seemed overpriced for what was essentially a flour roti, and the portion size left much to be desired. On the positive side, the Imperial Roll and Fried Rice were delightful, contributing positively to our overall dining experience. The restaurant offers a diverse menu with some hits and misses, making it a place worth exploring for its strengths. Despite the inconsistency in dishes, the inviting ambiance and the flavorful Pad Kee Mao make Marnee Thai a contender for those seeking a Thai dining experience. However, improvements in the value proposition of certain dishes would elevate the overall satisfaction for patrons.
Wonderful food though apparently very restricted if you need to be Gluten Free and Dairy Free like me. I'm not sure waiter understood my request but was told only the Pad Thai and the Thai Fried rice were safe. I went with the Thai fried rice with pineapple and prawns. Generous portions - I had l leftovers to take home. Delicious! It is a small restaurant and I was amazed we were able to get a table for 12 of us on a Saturday afternoon for lunch. I got some bubble tea from a few doors down and the staff seemed fine with bringing in outside drinks.
A small place, so prepare for a bit of crowdness during dinnertime. We had to wait a little for our order but it wasn't that long. The food was super tasty, We had a special salad with green mango, avocado and shrimp in it which would have been a perfect dish on its own. Then came the main dishes, fried rice with pineapple and prawns which were over the top!! I highly recommend this place, it's friendly and you will leave with a happy, full stomach. :)
Small establishment but very tasty food. There are two locations; this one is closer to Golden Gate Park, tucked away in the inner Sunset. The seating is comfortable, and the decorations well-chosen. The food –even the more common items- is pretty memorable; we ordered dishes like the tea leaf salad and crab cakes. Presentation is great, utilizing garnishes, plate shapes and sizes, and the soft lighting to really accentuate the vibrant colors of the food. Prices are also reasonable for the portions; note that rice is a separate order.
