Old Ship Saloon San Francisco Reviews
Good old Old Ship. Went most recently to an event. Place was packed with locals, which was great to see. Nightlife near downtown FiDi Is coming back and OSS is part of it. Good beer and drink selection. Adept bartenders.
Great drinks for a small place. It was almost packed on a Sunday, while we waited for our restaurant reservation around the corner at Kokkari. There was only one bartender, but he was expeditious and we didn't wait long for his attention (this is always most important to me at a bar). I had Maker's Mark with lemon and honey (forget official name), it was very nice. And my partner had a Moscow mule - flavorful, right amount of ginger beer. Had a nice conversation with another couple at the bar. We would def pass through again.
Had lunch here today around 1pm; the service was fast and friendly, and the food (I had "The Burger" with bacon, and a side of fries) was fantastic. The burger patty was juicy and very flavorful, the bacon was thick, and the fries were hot and crispy. Total bill (including a draft beer) before tip was around $30; very reasonably priced for this level of quality in the city. Will definitely eat here again when I'm in the area, and would highly recommend to anyone looking for a quick lunch and a beer.
We had a very late dinner at Old Ship Saloon after a night tour out at Alcatraz, and we couldn't have had a better experience. When we arrived, it was busy but not crowded, and even though the hour was late (9:30 pm), we were able to get amazing food. As the tavern filled up with people attending conferences or in the Business District, it felt loud but fun, and we weren't rushed out of our table or denied excellent service. We can absolutely recommend the clam chowder, the fish and chips was phenomenal our visiting guest had the salmon and enjoyed every single bite while my husband had the nachos and was shocked at how enormous the portion was! Five stars - we will definitely come again!!
The atmosphere here is cozy and welcoming. Friendly bartenders, and really good food! I've eaten nachos 100s of times in my life. The chicken molé nachos at The Old Ship Saloon are the best I've ever had! Also, my husband uses a wheelchair and this place is very accessible (including the bathroom!). We'll be back next time we're in SF.
I was looking for a quick meal before heading to the Exploratorium, and I was fortunate to find this place within walking distance. Despite being the only customers in the bar at the time, the bartender was welcoming and took the time to explain the beer selections and menu options. The prices were reasonable, and I felt the value was excellent given the generous portions. Everything we tried exceeded our expectations in flavor and quality. I would definitely recommend this spot for a satisfying meal before your next adventure!
Of all the places in SF, THIS is the place that actually redeems the entire city! I walked in, first time, these guys were EXTREMELY gracious, very friendly. They handed me a menu, let me take any seat in the place, and were VERY communicative with how they planned out the timing of the food, and when it was coming out. And even when it came out sooner than expected, that was not a problem. The atmosphere is pretty dark, but fitting! Hard to imagine this was an abandoned vessel named the Arkansas. Been to other places in the city, and they either upcharged claiming inflation was a reason, even though we're all facing it, or they pulled all sorts of tactics to get you to tip more. This place is honest with their prices, and genuine in their attitudes towards you. I had a rough couple days here, but being here for one meal made it all up! Thanks!
Really nice place. Staff is very friendly, the atmosphere really welcoming and lively. Cocktails are excellent and the beer selection really good. It is a great place to hang out with friends
2021 review: Their patty melt and crispy double-fried fries were delicious. My friend got their chicken mole nachos, which were massive, and she liked them too. Friendly bartender service on top of all this = win. 2019 review: Came here for brunch and a drink. After the pancakes and Pimm's cup were devoured, I left satisfied.
It was cool to visit a bar established in 1851. The atmosphere is historic yet modern and the cocktails were delicious. I loved how each drink has a fun fact about the bar and the area. The food was delicious but options were limited. The music was a mix of old school classics which I liked but it looked like it was the bartender's playlist so music styles may vary with bartenders.
