Rise & Grind San Francisco Reviews
I heard good things about Rise & Grind, and wanted to check out the nearby Golden Gate Park anyway, so I decided to check it out. I’m really glad I did! R&G has a great selection of unique latte flavors, which is perfect for someone like me. I love sweet coffee drinks. I decided to get the crème brûlée latte. I was not disappointed. It was such a unique flavor, and just the right sweetness for me. They even took a blowtorch to the top of the drink to add a little caramelization. Definitely check it out (and the park too) if you’re nearby.
Quite possibly the best #breakfast I've had in a long time. Avocado on toast with 2 poached eggs and some chili flakes. The bread and eggs were perfect. Also get the Earl Grey tea with vanilla syrup - the best tea I've had in America yet, and that means something as I am British - I have had a lot of tea in my time...
Cool spot to stop for coffee. Seems popular in the neighborhood. I popped in and ordered the cookie butter latte with oatmilk. Was good, sweet. Only 1 size but was enough.
Such an awesome coffee shop in all regards! Everyone working there is so nice, they get to know you and your drink order. There’s a wide drink selection with very cool latte options. it’s located right next to Golden Gate Park / short drive to the beach. You really can’t go wrong, this is a core part of the inner Richmond neighborhood and I always try to stop by for an iced horchata latte before going to the beach / the park. Give them a try, you won’t regret it!
everyone working is a baddie to the max the coffee was good and the avocado toast was huge
Stopped in for a quick coffee and pastry before going to the park. My cold brew was amazing and the danish was full of fresh blueberries and cream cheese that was encircled by delicious sweet dough
A decent coffee shop in the suburbs of San Francisco. Located in a residential area so parking is very tough. Firemen and police officers just park illegally to get their morning coffee. I don't remember their creme brulee latte much, but I do remember their avocado toast was good. Friendly staff, safe neighborhood, seems to bring a lot of locals with their doggies over and overall a good morning stop. I recommend it!
Been here a few times since moving to the area. Solid coffee for $2.75 you get a pretty decent size cup. Friendly staff. They don't leave all the milk options out so you might have to ask. Pet friendly as well. One of the few places that was open at 8am on New Year's Day which I appreciate.
Perfect location right across GGP. Stopped for a latte halfway through my doggie walk. Cool, friendly staff! Yuuummmy. Breakfast sandwich is delicious. Egg was fried perfectly soft and the avocado creamy. Brioche lightly toasted. Might ask for light on the sauce the next time though. Some wasted space and tables that are blocked off - would be nice to have more out as people were crowding inside. “Bear” tip jar is winning against “Man.” 😆
Rise & Grind is my go-to cafe for work and study. It is nice and quiet with chill music that is not loud so I will not be distracted. I love their latte and cappuccino. Sometimes I’ll try their special drinks too. It is located right next to the Golden Gate Park so having some coffee before or after a walk in the park is the most wonderful thing in a sunny day!
Got the Whopper latte, which is a malted milk and chocolate drink. Definitely not as sweet as a Starbucks drink, but not unsweet either. If you don't like super sweet coffee, this is the perfect level of sweet (If you do like sweet, you can order it to be extra sweet). It also had delicious crushed whoppers on top. I just wish that the candies didn't get mixed in with the ice cubes because I can't eat all of them when I finish the drink. I give this drink an 8/10.
Literally the best coffee shop in the area NO CAP!!! The pandan latte is to DIE for and the breakfast sandwich is incredible. If you're in the area, rise and grind is a must!! Also, the barista with the tattoos is such a baddie and the sweetest person ever. Also shoutout the tall asian guy he hella swag. Overall, 10/10 - best coffee shop in the world type splash.
Cofee is good and avocado toast is good too. Croissants with cream is real good. I forgot the name of it though. Seating is quite limited.
Rise & Grind is my go to spot when I am visiting Golden Gate Park or Ocean Beach. The breakfast sandwiches are very good but I recommend trying the Vietnamese Egg Custard Coffee.....This coffee mix is astonishingly good. The customer service staff have always been very cool and pleasant.
This place has very friendly service! I ordered the iced sesame Matcha latte! It was really nice because they were able to remove the condensed milk if you want to, which is a nice option! Also… There are some limited seats, but not that much… But some nice seating outside if it is a sunny day! I enjoyed my experience there and I thought the Matcha latte was very yummy :)
Very good breakfast and coffee! The breakfast sandwich was awesome! I got it without the aioli but my husband kept it on and it was tasty! My husband got the salted caramel latte and I got the creme Brule. Both were a great drink to sip as we strolled the park
I love coming here to catch up with friends! Seating is very limited, but Golden Gate Park is just steps away and has plenty of spots to sit down and enjoy your drink/food. The horchata latte, black sesame matcha, and crème brûlée latte are my favorites!
Mornings tend to have a line up so you may have to wait a little bit but the spicy chai latte is the best! This place is conveniently located right across Golden Gate Park, perfect for coffee walks or baked goods. Very limited seating on the patio outside so opted for takeout.
Incredibly friendly staff greeted us, genuinely happy to see us as we walked in. Coffee was well made and delicious, but the Breakfast Sandwich really stole the show! The combination of flavors and textures, with the gooey yolk, come together perfectly and have me rethinking how i make breakfast sandwiches at home! Highly recommend :)
Rise and Grind is an absolute gem for coffee lovers, plant enthusiasts, and dog owners, conveniently located right next to Golden Gate Park! From the moment you step inside, you're greeted with the delightful aroma of freshly brewed coffee, complemented by the lush greenery that fills the space, creating a serene and inviting atmosphere. I recently tried their horchata latte and a blueberry danish, and both were absolutely delightful. The horchata latte was a perfect blend of creamy and spicy, with just the right amount of sweetness--definitely a unique and refreshing twist on a classic coffee drink. The blueberry danish was fresh and flaky, with a generous filling of sweet, tangy blueberries that paired perfectly with the latte. The abundance of plants adds a refreshing and vibrant touch to the decor, making Rise and Grind not just a coffee shop, but a green oasis in the city. The seating is all outside, providing a wonderful alfresco experience that lets you enjoy your coffee in the fresh air. The cozy outdoor seating areas, bathed in natural light, provide the perfect setting for working, studying, or simply unwinding with a great cup of coffee. What sets Rise and Grind apart is its dog-friendly policy. It's heartwarming to see patrons enjoying their coffee while their furry friends relax by their side. The welcoming atmosphere extends to four-legged visitors, making it a perfect spot for dog owners who don't want to leave their pets behind. Plus, being right next to Golden Gate Park, it's the ideal stop before or after a leisurely stroll. A special shoutout to Kevin, the barista who made my visit extra special. His friendly demeanor and expert coffee-making skills ensured that my horchata latte was perfectly crafted. His warm and attentive service truly enhanced my experience. In summary, Rise and Grind is a must-visit for anyone seeking exceptional coffee and pastries in a beautiful, plant-filled, and dog-friendly environment. It's a place where you can truly relax and savor every sip, with your furry friend by your side. Five stars all the way!
4.5 stars. The breakfast bunwich was heavenly - rich brioche bread, an egg that was just a touch runny, plus avocado and bacon. Our group had the peanut butter, cookie dough, and black sesame lattes - all were good, but just a tad sweet for my liking. Recommend ordering online on the weekend as the park foot traffic leads to some lines.

This place lives up to its name! The folks here hustle and deliver great coffee at a respectable pace. The toast and breakfast sandwich are some the best breakfast options you can get for less than $20 in SF. Swing If you’re by the park! Love this place.

got a latte, it was good but they couldn't make it iced for me. it was still good hot. didnt try any of the food but I would go back. no indoor seating except one bench. the rest is outdoor seating.
We go to this place in our last travel and can tell you that is a good site to can take a very good coffee. Can go in afternoon or night to cam take a good lunch, have more differents types of food to adjust to all people. Really recommended site to go with friends and family. 10/10
Convenient place to stop on your way to the de young or cal academy in the park. Egg sandwich is fine. The semi melted slice of American cheese took me back to my childhood. The baristas were very nice and offered me a treat for my pup!
A very nice coffee shop on the outskirts of Golden Gate Park. Very interesting coffee selections at very reasonable prices, with a menu of delicious food to accompany. The Matcha waffle was highly recommended and with good reason. The coffee was reasonably priced, the staff was very attentive and quick, and the entire store was bustling with the warmth a coffee shop should have. The free wifi was also a very big bonus as well. Tl;Dr: While not a location I'd recommend for brunch, I'd definitely be happy to bring my family and friends here if I wanted to take them out for a coffee. The drinks are galaxies apart from anything a starbucks could make, and the food and service are just icing on a delicious waffle.
Got a cold brew with almond milk, I asked if you could add any flavoring and they said whatever was at the end of the counter was what they had. Fits the vibes of what you’d expect a coffee shop to be like, however the cold brew did not stand out to me. The patio seating was cute!
This part of Richmond feels like a café desert and Rise & Grind is easily the oasis. It makes decent coffee, has a small selection of pastry and food items but it covers the bases. I visited on a busy weekday morning, service was friendly although a bit slow. There was quite a line so I guess the staff was focusing on making coffee for everyone that it took me a bit of wait to get my cold cut turkey sandwich after I got my coffee. Sandwich was pretty tasty though.
I ordered and paid for an egg coffee but was then informed that they were sold out and would not have another batch ready until way later. I switched my order to a black sesame matcha latte (only available iced) with oat milk and declined their polite offer to refund me the difference, as it was marginal. When my drink was ready, the barista told me to stir it well before drinking it. I gave it several good stirs and took a sip. It tasted slightly bitter and grassy, so I stirred it some more, which greatly improved the taste as the black sesame became more prominent. I liked that it wasn’t super sweet; it tasted very balanced. But about that egg coffee… I still want to try it, so I’ll be making another trip to this café sometime.

This coffee place used to be a favourite of mine to get a tasty specialty coffee (the creme brulé , and cookie butter lattes being a personal favourite in the past) and wander through GG park, however it is slowly becoming more and more of a mess in the shop (cardboard boxes piled up, Costco dog food boxes stacked next to coffee, staff shuffling around the piles of stuff struggling to get around too - just a general mess). I most recently took family to this shop while in GG park, we ordered hot chocolate and whopper lattes, I don't know if they were out of chocolate that day but the hot chocolate tasted of sugary milk, and the latte only tasted of malted milk - couldn't even taste the coffee and definitely no chocolate flavour as promised in the drink description. Has really great potential with a nice location and good coffee blends but could do with a tidy and some more work on chocolate containing products.
This is a lovely little spot with really good coffee. However not a good place to sit and work. I was hoping to have lunch and coffee while my nephew played in the park - it is close by. But turns out they have no bathroom. They sent me to the kinda seedy Safeway a couple of blocks away. I then returned but all three of the tables, which are all outside were taken. And they were out of low-fat milk. So I took my full-fat latte and avo toast (both delicious), to the park. Not ideal for me, would be great if they re-opened their bathroom and indoor seating (which they clearly used to have). Staff were lovely.
Cute cafe off the beaten path. Stopped by here for the cold brew which was pretty good. Staff was slow and not friendly. They seemed more interested in talking with their coworkers and friends not purchasing anything rather than helping customers. No seats were available on the late morning. Seems like it gets a lot of people working from “home” on their laptops. They need to find a way to move people every couple hours if they want more business. Only street parking is available...good luck!
Their reluctance to make eye contact or interact with you is so painful. If you plan to order or pick up here, you had better be ready to assertively ask for help because they will not greet you, ask what you'd like to order or what you're picking up when you arrive. You'll just wait there in utter silence until you finally ask. They avoid interacting with customers at all costs, but will continue to converse with each other. It's impossible to make eye contact because they avoid you entirely. You'll have to just get their attention over the loud coffee machines. Been here over 30 times over several years and the experience is very consistent. The drinks and atmosphere are good, and the location is convenient, which is why I come back. I encourage you to support local businesses, but recognize you'll get zero customer service here.

Nice ambience, decent coffee/food. Staff seem reasonably nice. My breakfast sandwich order got lost in translation until I reminded the staff ~25 minutes later when I realized people after me were being served. They rushed it out soon after. I get it, we all make mistakes, but typically if you waste that much of someone’s time, even a small concession goes much further than a flippant apology - especially when the customer tips you in advance for counter service.
A coffee shop for people who want sweet and cramy concoctions, NOT actual coffee. Asked for a splash of whole milk, they poured in an inch of half and half. And the person tried to hide the container while they were pouring, as if I wouldn't be able to tell by tasting it. If you won't give people what they ask for, just let them put their own milk in. I wouldn't trust this place if I had serious needs, like allergies.

Made me wait 30 minutes for 2 breakfast sandwichs, to give to another customer in the end. If I haven't asked, they would kept me waiting.
When I walked in today, 3-4 employees were hiding in the back. A tall barista was making a drink, saw me, and didn’t greet me or say anything. I continued to wait, and another employee saw me from the back and didn’t engage. After a few minutes standing there, I left. This was not the first time I had come to this location and not received customer service. I’m done with this place!!
How do you not have restrooms for your customers? I came here on Thursday only because there was a cleaning event by Civic Joy Fund and was really disappointed there was no restroom. The host of this cleanup bought us all coffee and I don't see myself drinking this charcoal brew anytime soon again.
