Tacos El Patron San Francisco Reviews
I love the flavor of the birria pizza; the birria tacos are crunchy, and you must eat them as soon as you can. Don't let them get cold!! 🥶
This place is really good, there food is amazing and reasonably priced. It gets a little busy and the wait time might be a bit of an issue during rush time thats all. The birria tacos are a must try.
Just when you think you've tried every taco spot, found every good joint to eat in the city, a friend recommends a place like Tacos El Patron. Hidden right under my nose on 26th and van ness, I helped myself to two tacos of birria, and two tacos of asada patron style (must). Little did I know, that what would come out was so monstrous that I wanted to stop eating at two tacos, but so delicious that I powered on and hit the third. I saved the last one as a trophy to what could possibly be a top 2 San Francisco taco spot. Salsas; super fresh and yummy. Both green sauces are so citrus forward, which I love.
Came here for the birria tacos, consomé, and ceviche and WOW. We were not ready for the flavor, in the best way possible. In a big city where spice and seasoning often get watered down to “appeal to everyone,” this place said nah🔥. This is authentically Mexican, full of bold flavor, rich broth, and that homemade touch you don’t find everywhere. The birria was juicy, the consomé hit the soul, and the ceviche was fresh and perfectly balanced. If you like real flavor, real spice, and food that doesn’t apologize for being good, this is your spot. Muy auténtico. Mucho sabor. 100% recomendado. 🇲🇽 I’ll absolutely be back. 5/5 — vengan con hambre.
I’m born and raised in Boston, and I thought we had some pretty decent Mexican food here, but boy was I wrong. I was visiting SF and a coworker recommended Tacos El Patron to me. I’m glad I made the journey here because I think it’s the best Mexican food I’ve ever had. I think it’s ruined my enjoyment of Mexican food at home, because now I know what I’m missing out on…I will forever compare everything I eat in MA, to this restaurant in SF. Of course, in MA we don’t have the same choice and variety as you do in CA, but still! Everything was 10x more flavorful than what I’ve had at home in Massachusetts. The portion sizes are also great - usually I’m used to having to order 2 or 3 tacos or a couple tamales to be satisfied. But just one taco or tamale here is a pretty big portion (for me at least!). The horchata was also incredible! The birria tamale is so cool - it’s a must try for sure! I also had a birria taco and a taco al pastor with carne asada - also very good choices. The salsa that comes with the chips is also very flavorful, and actually a bit spicy. Nothing too hot for me, but I was surprised because in Massachusetts the free salsa is always zero spice hahaha. What a great place - I can’t wait to come back here again on my next trip to SF.
When I say these are the BEST birria tacos I have EVER had I am not exaggerating. The beef was cooked perfectly and was tender and juicy. Consomme had a lovely umami and rich flavor. The salsas were made in house, cold, and refreshing. My agua fresca was definitely a bit too sweet but that’s probably how it’s supposed to be. Will absolutely be back next time I’m in the Mission district.
It’s all about the food!! Wide range of traditional Mexican food on the menu - one more delicious than the other 🤤 We did try only the Tacos, which were SUPER (I would suggest to take at least two - you also get a free side!) but also the burritos seemed quite tempting(and also were huuuuuge) They bring you at the table a free side of Nachos with Salsa 🤩 100/10!! Definitely will be back 🙌🏽
Absolutely fantastic tacos. I think possibly the best I have found in the bay area. We were specifically looking for a place with good birria tacos for my teen to try, and they did not disappoint. On top of that, the pollo, asada, carnitas, and pescado tacos were all fabulous. The aqua fresca was also amazing. Can't wait to come back!
Excellent birria and tacos. Come with good sides nopales, refried beans, onions and radish and 4 different sauces. A generous serving of chip and salsa. Birria taco is good and consome not too oily. The Al Pastor Tace very tasty, can't wait to try to other meats. I see they have shrimp and fish tacos - which I can't wait to try soon.
One of the best tacos in San Francisco. Neighborhood is a little packed with cars along the streets and can be a bit hard to parking. Tacos are really good and they can fry the items a little longer and they come out really nice and crispy. The drinks are also really good. Worth a visit.

Jaimaica not too sweet, wish the pastor super burrito had a little more pastor, but super flavorful. Good selection of sauces and the pico was very flavorful. Nice vibes inside, authentic.

Their tacos are really good. Definitely liked their birria tacos here! \n\nIt's clean and plenty of seating. It's fast casual but they help you clear your tables. \n\nWould come back.

I ordered the nachos and they came with the orange nacho cheese you get at the theatre. All the ingredients otherwise are great just disappointing that they don’t use real cheese. If the menu said they use this type of cheese I definitely would not have ordered this.
The food here was quite good overall. I really liked the shrimp taco, which was full of flavor and good sized shrimps. Usually do not like cheese in my tacos but did not mind it in this shrimp taco. The fish taco was good in concept but too spicy for my taste. They brought tortilla chips to the table at the beginning of the meal. I liked the fact that the chips were warm, as if freshly made. The soft tortillas wrapped around the tacos were especially tasty, with a nice chew. Service was competent but perfunctory. The atmosphere was okay.
I never, ever, have ever said this but, I don’t think i paid enough… (never said this especially living in SF) I had just a simple carne asada street taco and and al pastor street taco. Came with beans and chips. Perfect amount of food. All the salsas were good. Carne Asada taco was good. Chips were good (nice and light, I hate the thick chips, or the ones not made in house) Wasn’t a fan of the al pastor (the strong cumin for an al pastor taco was weird for me), but liked that they added pineapple (could of added more / bigger pieces :)) All in all it surprised me. Everything was good and it was a great deal. Will recommend and will be back.
The food is pretty solid here. I like the salsas and the fact that you can get grilled onions on the side. The meat came out cold in my carne asada taco. And the vampiro was essentially a mini ques…
Another quest to fulfill D2's birria craving. I was surprised at how many things they make with birria. Very popular spot as we had to wait for a table to clear. We lucked out with parking though. …

We did a google search for best tacos in SF and this one disappointed. We got 4 carne asada tacos queso fundido with shrimp and flour tortillas a carne asada burrito regular and they charged me $95 plus 5 drinks come to find out they charged me for an extra burrito I did not order they refunded me but still was expensive in my opinion. Food was mediocre not much seasoning or flavor in anything we ordered. Pictured was the taco and the burrito. Carne asada was bland. Queso fundido and shrimp didn’t have much of flavor either. Mostly likely wouldn’t come back.

This used to be my go to spot for birria but no longer. So many better places tacos el patron has really gone down hill over the past few years. It’s sad bc I was a loyal customer
