Chaat Cafe San Jose Reviews
Great Indian food at a very reasonable price. My favorites are the Spicy Seekh Kabob Wrap and the Lamb Curry, but I haven't had anything here that wasn't good. Two thumbs up. 👍👍
Tempting dishes if you’re craving sweet and spicy food. Friendly staff. Staff is quick preparing food. They also have to go service including compostable cutlery with unlimited green chutney(spicy) and tamarind chutney (sweet). The panner tikka masala wrap (naan) was freshly made and it was very soft. Taste was medium spicy. Dahi Batata Sev Puri was just AMAZING!!! It was sweet, spicy, saucy with yogurt, potatoes, gram flour fried thin noodle, green and tamarind chutney. Samosa chaat was up to the expectation. Mango lassi was okay. I must recommend trying all mouth watering pictured dishes.
If you love Indian food - I suggest this place! Low key, delicious food, friendly staff, clean. We tried their food from one of the delivery services first and loved it so much that decided to come in-person! Btw, online they have family dinner option which is a ton of food! They have tasty “appetizers” that are under Street Food section - if you haven’t tried them I’d strongly advocate for that, crispy and fresh with mint and tamarind chutneys - yum! I ordered vegetarian biryani, more red version, they added a note “extra tomatoes” and it was delightful and a big portion too! It comes with raita yogurt so if you’re plant-based/lactose-intolerant ask them to serve without it. For vegan version all curries could be made with veggies (not necessarily paneer/fish/chicken/lamb). My husband ordered a curry “dinner” option - it came with naaab, rice, daal, another small vegetarian TVP meat & potato curry that I enjoyed. Ask them for what you want - they are very accommodating!

Chaat Cafe, located on Blossom Hill Rd in San Jose, offers a delightful dining experience. The service here is impressively swift, ensuring a hassle-free visit. The staff, particularly Meghraj, stood out as exceptionally friendly and welcoming. Meghraj's passion for hospitality is evident, as he attends to guests with genuine enthusiasm. During our visit, we savored Chole Bhature, Samosa Chaat, and a Paneer Wrap. The standout item was undoubtedly the Bhatura; they were among the best I've ever had. These Bhatura are generously sized and incredibly fluffy, making for a truly satisfying meal. Notably, they prepare fresh naan, and the Paneer Wrap is expertly encased in this freshly baked goodness. One word of advice: their portions are substantial, so plan your order accordingly, especially if you have a smaller appetite. Overall, Chaat Cafe on Blossom Hill Rd left a positive impression, and I'd gladly return on future visits to San Jose. It's a must-visit for those seeking delicious Indian cuisine with attentive service in a welcoming atmosphere.
I love this place, its a bit of a drive for me, but for the equivalent of almost fast food indian, Ill make a trek. They have a nice array of items, i usually just get a few appetizers and pick at them. They do have entrees however. The armosphere is definitelt clean, but is self service with plenty of dipping sauces and a vending machine for soft drinks.
Ordered samosa chat, tandoori roti with aachari chicken curry, chole bhature, salad with seekh kebab and all are tasty. Chole bhature and roti were very soft. Definitely recommend. Samosa chat portion size is big. Can easily be shared by 2-3 people. Overall hygienic place and nice food.
He put us waiting forever after DoorDash already said food is ready and we ordered 2 orders of chole samosa and he gave only one order of chole . The one thing that tastes decent here so he probably ran out. Did not have the decency to make eye contact and say they are running late- kept billing other orders while we waited!
I normally dont stray from my usual Indian food spot... But I did because doordash had this special and I was craving... However it just made me miss Naan N Curry more because there is a BIG difference in taste for sure! Not as Flavorful, in fact... not much at all... However I'm giving the stars for effort....
Friday evening takeout: 1. Ordered paneer pakora, pani puri, samosa chaat and chicken biryani. 2. Paneer pakora(it’s okay), Pani puri(good, could be better, samosa chaat(very good), chicken biryani(I wouldn’t call it that, it’s well cooked chicken and rice. I’d skip buying it, if I was in the mood for biryani. Also, the chicken is very good in both quantity and quality). 3. Service was very quick and good. Nice hospitality.
I normally don’t like to do bad reviews. However, this needs to be said. I and my husband had aloo tikki chaat and a veg plate with bhindi masala, dal, naan and rice recently. The bhindi masala was terrible. Chewy, oily, and bad quality okra used in making the curry. Not at all good. we were unable to eat it as we were choking on that food. I am a long time resident here, and been to this place quite a few times. The quality has gone terrible here over time. I am disappointed. I tried to tell the guy incharge about this and his answer was ‘okay’. Never stepping foot here again.
The food and customer service experience was unsatisfactory. The garlic naans were not flavorful, as they contained excessive raw garlic. There is no difference when you say regular vs mild spices, as its a same gravy to what was described on the phone. As a pickup order, one item was inadvertently omitted. When I inquired about the missing item, the customer service representative responded rudely, suggesting that I either return to the restaurant to retrieve the missing item or use DoorDash to lodge a complaint.
We’ve been coming to this restaurant for a long time, and their food is always delicious. We usually order takeout and get their chicken tikka masala wraps, which used to come with a potato salad that was really good. Later, they started charging extra for it—first $1.00, then $1.25—which was fine because we like it and still ordered it. The problem is that they keep forgetting to include the potato salad. The first time, we didn’t make a big deal out of it since it was only $1.00. Then it happened again… and again. A few times, we even had to drive back just to pick it up. Today, it happened yet again. Before leaving, we specifically asked the guy thats always at the cashier , “Is everything in the bag?” and even confirmed, “Is the potato salad in there?” The bag was tied shut, so we couldn’t check. When we got home no potato salad. Again. We called the restaurant, and they said they could make it if we came back to pick it up, but it’s not worth the gas for a $1.25 item. They also didn’t offer a refund. At that point, we were just too frustrated and hung up.
Ordered malai kofta and paneer makhani from the restaurant with UberEats for dinner. The food was inedible. It tasted like stale food, probably prepared the previous day.
