Chicken Licious San Jose Reviews
They have good green-onion ear-mushroom tofu and steam layer cake (bánh da lợn). I ordered these for my coworkers for quick snacks and people love it. Call 2-3 days in advance if doing a big order. The tofu was a good vegetarian savory snack. The bánh da lợn has really good real pandan flavor. I love their taro or taro and mungbean kind. You can taste real taro with taro chunk. I also like how they use real flavor and not a bunch of food coloring. Both options are good vegan and gluten reduced snacks. Highly recommend. The staff was nice and helpful, however I suggest staff to get trained and learn more about their products ingredients and different diets and know which product is fit for what diet or label their menu for vegetarian/ vegan/ gluten free so when customers ask they know better.
Dessert tofu with ginger brown sugar syrup on the side; soy milk without added sugar; absolute hand made and healthy. Delicious
Very interesting spot sell variety of Vietnamese snack and food. Housemade tofu and soy milk it’s really good. I love their rice roll with pork and mushroom. They also have fresh fried sesame ball with red bean and variety of tapioca snack.
Love this place for Tofu! They have varieties and i just point to the ones i like. Sometimes they don't speak English and they think I'm Vietnamese, which isn't too far from the Philippines 😂. All good though, they have always been welcoming and friendly. Come try their tofu and you will not regret it! I went there the other day but it looks like they're out of the country?!? They are temporarily closed until July 8 and I'm counting the days they're open.
I didn't park too close or too far from the shop. I arrived there mid-afternoon and got a Vietnamese dessert ché. It was pretty cheap, only $3.25. It tasted pretty good too.
Great tasting and very affordable Vietnamese food!
The best fried tofu in Bay Area. The mushroom one is our favorite. Lots of other Vietnamese snacks too. We came here every other week to get some for ourselves, friends, and family 😅
they finallyyyyyyy take card! however minimum charge of 10?
Great place to get tofu and other Vietnamese treats

The lemongrass chili tofu. I was introduced by a Vietnamese friend, and I swear, they never have enough. I have driven to San Jose just for this, and wipe out all they have every time. Since COVID, they've upped their food safety game significantly, and you are now served rather than self-serve. Yet the prices haven't changed, and everyone is extremely pleasant. Only 2 customers are allowed in the store at a time, and everything is cash only. The fresh soy milk is also worth trying. It has a strong soy flavor and is good for desserts or lattes where you want the soy flavor to shine through.
I grew up on Thanh Son Tofu living in southern California and the quality of their fresh tofu and sweet milk remains the same! They also offer delicious variations of fried tofu, dessert and popular Vietnamese dishes to go.
This place is awesome. Tons of different types of tofu. All taste great and pretty good deal. Desserts bare good too and not overly sweet.

Great selection of Vietnamese desserts. Long time staple of this area and maintaining the good standards of flavors and authenticity. Love their soy milk silken tofu.
⚠️Temporarily Closed until July 9th or something !! But usually good

Their tofu is top notch and best in the bay area. When you order a large, she will fill it to the rim. I usually do their colorful sticky rice and you get a container with a huge portion (no, they don't use a scale, they just pack a box). If you get their soy milk, double check and I found one that was spoiled (you can tell by looking a the top or bottom for a thick layer of film or if it looks like it's curling). Some of their other food are interesting to say as they have these meat rolls out in the open table that's been sitting there probably all day and at luke warm room temperature people would buy them and eat without worrying about bacteria growth.
12/2020 UPDATE: I don't know if Covid is at fault but I have to revise my review because the quality is not the same as in the past. Hope I get to give them a higher rating again in the future. My favorite place in San Jose so far for a large selection of Viet desserts, durian sticky rice, fresh-made tofu, tofu custard with ginger syrup, and fried tofu with lemongrass or woodear mushroom, and other snacks, all at very reasonable prices.

Very few fried tofu options, at least on a 2pm on a Tuesday: only plain and lemongrass. I got the lemongrass, which seemed to contain only fried tofu skin and not much tofu underneath; I wish there had been more substantial tofu within, but maybe that’s just personal preference. Lastly, no English at all on the signs, or spoken by either staff member there, not even single words to explain what’s inside the fried tofu selections. Really made it difficult for a non-Vietnamese-speaker to shop there; luckily a kind gentleman who happened to be in the store was kind enough to help. FYI this is not really a restaurant as far as I could tell, but a standard Vietnamese food-and-sweets “take-out” shop.
I never want to go back to this place again. Bad service! There was an incidentally that happened I ordered many things and the cost total $62.76. I gave them $50 bill and $10 bill I was too busy to find the .76 cent then turn out the cashier told me I gave her only $10 bill and $ 3. I told them With soft voice that I gave $50 bill. They jumped on me and loudly voiced ok ok.… Let's check the camera. The guy check and came out said you gave only 10 and 3. With the high voice. To be honest I walked out of this place and felt like a trap.

I usually visit Thanh Son Tofu for their rice noodles (bánh ướt), pork ham (chả lụa), and various desserts. On my recent visit around 9 AM, I spent a total of $72 on food. However, when I got home and cut into the pork ham (the one with the red string), I immediately noticed the texture wasn't fresh and it was super sticky. Taking a bite confirmed my fears – it was incredibly sour. I ended up throwing the entire thing away.I called the store to inform them about the issue and to check their product. The lady on the phone suggested I bring it back for an exchange, but since I had already discarded it, she said there was nothing she could do. I made the call just to inform them, not expecting a refund or exchange, but the response was disappointing. This experience has left me quite disheartened. It seems like they might be reheating unsold items from the day before and reselling them in the morning. I’ll be avoiding this place, especially early in the day, and I'm losing hope in the quality of their food.
