Thaibodia San Jose Reviews
Southeast Asian comfort food. A casual local gem for generous portions and classic cozy flavors. We ordered the classics like pad Thai and pad see ew, with that perfect balance of sweet and savory. A rich green chicken curry so comforting. Every dish tasted homey and was made for sharing. This is the kind of spot you bring your family or meet friends when you just want good food without a wait and service was quick. If you love Thai and Cambodian cuisine, give Thaibodia a try.
Thaibodia is a great spot if you are eating with family or a group. Portions are generous and work really well for family style sharing, so ordering a few dishes is usually more than enough for everyone. Food comes out hot, flavorful, and consistently good. Nothing over the top, just solid Thai dishes at a good value. We almost always have leftovers, which is a nice bonus. Easy place to come back to when you want a filling, shareable meal without thinking too hard about it.
I recently visited Thaibodia Bistro and was blown away by the flavor and value. Every dish we ordered was under $20, super fresh, and packed with authentic Thai taste. We tried: 🥘 Tom Yum Soup with Mixed Seafood – flavorful, spicy, and loaded with shrimp, squid, and fish. 🥗 Seafood Salad – fresh and tangy, with a very generous portion. 🌯 Fresh Spring Rolls with Shrimp – light and refreshing, perfect as an appetizer. The menu has all the Thai classics like pad Thai, green curry, pineapple fried rice, and mango sticky rice. You can customize spice levels and protein options, which is a huge plus! 💡 They also have free drink promos (like lemonade), so check for current deals.
Food was excellent!! We got cucumber salad, Thom yom soup, Thai cashew shrimp, shrimp cakes. Everything was delicious!! Atmosphere is limited, service intermittent. They do a good take out biz so not as adept at dining in.

I got take out, but still rate the atmosphere a 5, because the place is beautiful! I got the 3 item take out for $35 and can’t believe how much food it was. I was hoping it would be enough for two. It was enough for four! I ordered very spicy…..and it WAS!! Cooked perfectly and had so much flavor!!! We’re hooked!!!!
I've had my fair share of Thai food, and this restaurant stands out from the rest. The Tom Yum soup was the perfect blend of sour and spicy, and the Massaman curry was rich and comforting. The staff were knowledgeable about the dishes and made excellent recommendations. I can't wait to come back and try more of their menu!
Excellent food, chicken satay is amazing, yellow curry absolutely amazing. If you don't like anything hotter than say Frank's red hot sauce, go with MILD, as medium is a bit hot! Very good portions and e tremely good cooks!
Huge servings! Bring your family and friends to share different dishes 😁

Pumpkin Red curry was delicious and the chicken was perfect - not dry and stringy. Glade plug in was too stinky maybe get food to go if you're scent sensitive
Not being Cambodian myself, I couldn't give a review as to how authentic the food is, but the yellow curry I had was very good! Nice big portions I was super full before I even finished. Interior was kinda cold, The Thai iced tea is also very tasty. I'll be back soon to try the red curry.

We’ve been to another spot in Milpitas and we had a great experience so today we decided to visit somewhere nearer. Food: overall, they taste good but the Tom Kha soup is way too salty, and we have to add some water ourselves to get it balanced. The chicken in all dishes is well cooked; very tender. We ordered medium spicy for all of the food and it’s just about the hotness we want. Service: When we entered the restaurant around 8 we were told that they are closing at 9 yet the business hour on Yelp and Map is 9:30 so we were a bit surprised as there were no notice on the door even if it’s a day before the holiday. Ambiance: clean and nice. Casual meal or family dinner is recommended.
The volume is good. The red curry was good - the other dishes were just fusion and not Thai - noodle plates on the wet side and sweeter

Not a dine in place even though it has enough sitting. Restaurant cares only for togo orders. Food was kind of okay. I don’t think I would visit again for dine in. Ambience is not good either. We sat on a wobbly table that was another annoying thing during dinner. Menu and ordering is via app and service just essentials.
Food was fine. Service isn't what it should be. The server needed more training, about what is available. But he said the usual server has to go to the doctor, I belief
They’re usually very on top of it, but tonight the vibe was way off. My partner walked in to grab our food like we’ve done 30+ times in the past and there was no employee to be seen. They had to actually call the phone for someone to answer it & come to the front. Finally we paid, and then the girl disappeared into the back again… On top of that, she said it would be another 15 min when we were already at our pick up time. Not the best experience, hopefully just a one off.
We ordered doordash pick up and got chicken pad thai, beef pad see ew, and eggplant with chicken. The food was all very average at best. Edible and “fine” but I wouldn’t get food from there again.

I just want to preface being Khmer (Cambodian)-American, my palate is partial to certain flavors and ingredients. I don’t expect a 5-star experience, but want to feel comfortable and enjoy good food! With that said, I recently moved to the Bay area and have been craving Southeast Asian fare. Thaibodia did not satisfy my craving. Atmosphere: The interior decor is indistinguishable from any other restaurant of any other cuisine. There is some SEA decor but nothing too obvious as a lot was hidden toward the back of the restaurant. We were a party of two and opted for the four seater table directly to the right upon entrance. This faces parallel to the street with a nice sunny window. This window hosts a ton of plants - which as a plant lover I would typically be okay with ..but not here. There seemed to be lot of gnats and small flies flying around this table. I am certain I saw a fly trap as well. Behind the table is a wall outlet that has a Glade Plug-in. The fragrance was EXTREMELY distracting and smelled awful for a restaurant. I thought my entire dining experience would be ruined by the smell of “fresh linen” aka toxic, hormone disrupting fumes. If you are the owner/manager of this establishment and you are reading this - please remove the Glade Plug In, leave that for the restroom..not the dining room. Table was set with a pair of dirty/not completely cleaned dishes. Food: As a starter, we ordered the Papaya salad with Salted Crab - It was just okay, but I would not order it again. Flavor was unbalanced. Too sugary sweet, too unbearably salty. The two soups for dinner: Salaw Kako with Squid - my partner said bland but edible. I can’t speak to it much. Salaw machu Ktiss with Chicken - acceptable taste wise, but I couldnt get past an early issue I found with the soup. My initial order had a dark hair that was found before I could dig in. See photo. I was offered a new order to which I obliged. At this point, I was ready to walk out but I was so hungry. I later learned I would regret this decision. We didn’t finish nearly half our food and it was a disappointment to spend however much we did on this dinner. That evening we spent walking down Santana Row and I became very ill. I am not sure if this was related to the dinner, but my experience at Thaibodia has led me to have an inkling it may have been a slight result. Service was poor and the server did not seem to care or be receptive to my discomfort or their shortcomings that evening. I hope they can do better, but this is not the place for me.

Employee was very young and fake polite. Asked me if I wanted my food mild or no spice probably because I’m white. The problem is the food wasn’t up to par with that kind of attitude. Had a washed down flavor with old ingredients and rubbery chicken that gave me food safety concerns. Even the Thai tea was watered down! The restaurant itself was dirty - had an odor and even cobwebs,
Food is bland. Inside restaurant is sad - only 1 table was filled at 12 PM on a Friday. No one to greet you when you enter - you have to ring a bell. Seems like a very dead restaurant with not many customers and very sad. Food is mediocre and definitely not a top 10 thai restaurant.

I want to preface by saying I try my best o support small business' as much as I can. That being said, I have given this establishment 3 different chances and each time I have been disappointed. Every dish I have ordered had been overwhelmingly sweet. Soup. Salad. Stir fry curry. Everything. This place is clearly tring to hide their lack of flavors with an abundance of sugar. Dishes have been bland and lack flavor. Service has been awful. I have been made to feel I was an inconvenience for paying to be there. I will not be visiting a 4th time.
Spent over $12 for the corn cakes and they were raw and gooey inside. Also ordered the Pad Thai with peanuts and received no peanuts at all. Very disappointing. Lost my appetite because of the fritters. Also the yellow curry was super watery and lacking salt. Will not order here again.
