Straight up awesome pizza here at Lunita's. It's almost like a pizza speakeasy inside of a Mexican restaurant. You have to text ahead your order, bring cash for a discount! We got two pizzas, the Margherita and Capistrano. Both pizzas were awesome, but the Capistrano really was the star. The crust is top notch, crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. I would say this spot is a top 5 pizza joint in OC for sure, it is similar style pizza to Gibroni's. Definitely give this one a try!

Pop Up Pizza Shop- If you’re a pizza connoisseur and happen to be in SOUTH Orange County, particularly San Juan Capistrano, then there are few places you know, you can really enjoy quality pizza. Lunitas is one them. This is a “take out only” place and the menu is predetermined, no messing around trying to pick and choose how you like it. There’s the menu, you order, simple. But if you like somewhat deep dish, Detroit styled pizza you’ll love this place. It’s a little unconventional when it comes to ordering, you text your order, get confirmation back and you pick up at the time they provide. Pop-Up Pizza Shop- No messing around here just good old fashion pizza in a simple pick-up process. Look them up on Instagram for more details. They have a cult pizza following already. Get a nice Chianti wine on the way home and your set. Cheers 🍷

We ordered the Red Five and it was delicious. Detroit style, buttery, burnt cheese crust (reminds me of Pequods crust in Chicago), flavorful. Had to text to order and no where to dine in, pick up only. Overall great pizza.

There is a reason there is 5 stars on Yelp! (Which is basically unheard of) If you're reading reviews trying to decide if you want to try Lunita's, DO IT! We drove 98 miles exactly one way & every second is worth it! I can not say enough great things about this! So even if you're making the drive, order NOW! We found out about this pizza from a friend who found out from a friend and so on.. and they were right. Danny changed the pizza game for us FOREVER! 🍕 The crust is PERFECT, the ingredients are all amazing, you can tell each one is made with love and it's not some pizza thrown together just to make a buck. If the cheesecake is available snag one. It's out of this world! If you have any left for the next day it is still just as amazing! And the hot honey.. AHHHMYGAH Ordering is easy. Text in and show up at your time. I'm pretty sure our pizza was still sizzling We took the pie over to Dana Point Harbor and enjoyed our evening. Makes for a great little adventure. (Especially with kiddos) Danny is super nice! You can tell he appreciates everyone who comes in. It's awesome knowing you text him, he makes your pizza and you pick it up from him. It's a different experience from what we have in the world normally today and I appreciate that so much! Super efficient & great service. We are absolutely fans now and I see lots of Lunita's in our future Once you have Lunita's pizza, pizza will never be the same.

Best pizza in the area. Danny the owner is a very friendly guy that tries to get to know everyone that orders pizzas from him. Never had any problem ordering via text, they’re always very prompt and flexible. 10/10 must try pizza.

We are return customers and Danny continues to serve up delicious freshly made pizza. We texted our order Thursday to reserve our SexyRoni and Red Five pizzas. Pickup continues to be seamless at the time reserved. The pizzas continue to be creatively delicious!

First visit, I give it 5 stars, only because the pepperoni pizza was excellent. Both cup and sliced pepperoni was used. Very thick and bready with a crispy edge. Yum ! A couple of things to note. Pickup orders are done by text message only. All pizzas are one size only, mine was $30, 8 slices. Pickup is at the takeout section of El Maguey restaurant, but the door to the takeout is signed as “Restrooms” ! Confusing !

In the back end of a Mexican restaurant, this place is amazing! It’s the best pizza I’ve had in Orange County. $33 per pizza, it’s enough for 2-3 people

We loooove Lunita's! This ain't your average mediocre pie. It's artisinal. From the crispy yet chewy crust to the sauce and the selection of unique combos (my personal favorite is the Sexy Roni), every bite of a Lunita's pie is simply delicious. Oh, and we got the Caesar salad last time, which was also really good-- elevated and super fresh. They've also got great t-shirts. And regarding the text to order concept, I think it's fun and refreshing -- it's right to the point and simple to do.

This is a great pizza. The crust is essentially focaccia. We get the sexyroni, which is pepperoni, ricotta and basil - get the hot honey with it. You have to order ahead (pick up only) via sms text. Look them up on Instagram to get the info. It is located at the El Maguey restaurant in San Juan Capistrano.

Had an amazing experience at Lunitas Pizza! The pizza here is top-notch, definitely among the best I've had in OC. Their ordering process is really straightforward, perfect for those who plan their meals ahead. Just a quick text and your order is set. When we went to pick up our pizza, the owner was incredibly friendly, making the whole experience even better. Definitely looking forward to our next visit!

Best pizza in Orange County! Not just my opinion but food critics all throughout California agree. I love the way Lunitas captures some of the Hispanic flavor into traditional style pizza to make a very unique experience. Highly recommend!!!

Well deserved maximum Star ⭐ rating for Lunitas. Detroit style pies made with love that you can feel from your first bite. Crust is phenomenal and the ingredients they use are top notch. This is a take out and cash only affair so plan accordingly and text your order well in advance. Good job Danny and crew !

I’m a first timer at Lunita’s Pizza and it certainly won’t be the last. Best pizza I’ve ever had! Deep dish has never been a first choice for me but this place made a fan outta me. The topping was the best ever. The tastes come together like destiny. The owner is a great guy, working hard and doing a fantastic job. I will always support small business and this is one to support for sure. I love the neighborhood too. Between a Mexican restaurant (that smells delicious) and a market with beautiful fruit outside the front door. Gotta love small businesses. This place is definately top tier pizza. You’ll love it.

Best pizza I have ever had! The crust was absolutely delicious and had the best crunch, the dough wasn’t doughy at all and was so, so delicious. You can tell they’re using very high quality, fresh ingredients and the flavor profiles he built for these pizzas are so good! The wowie sauce added even more flavor and somehow made a perfect pizza even better! The ordering process may be slightly unconventional but it is EXTREMELY SIMPLE. You’re literally given step by step instructions on how to order and it couldn’t be easier. My Mom picked up our order and couldn’t stop talking about how wonderful her experience was and how much she enjoyed the owner. Super stoked we found this place and absolutely can’t wait to go back!

Had to try it after reading the reviews and it’s as good as others have said, if not better. Had the Christina and the Sexy Roni. Super fresh veggies on the Christina and buried in pepperoni and whipped white cheese and basil on the Sexy Roni. Dough was fresh and crisp yet soft on the inside. Feeds about 3-4 per pizza and all in all, outstanding. I’ll be back for more for sure.

This has been a long awaited place for me on my pizza journey. I'm glad to have finally made it. Food: Very good. As always I disclaim that I get a plain cheese the first time I visit a new pizzeria. The bread/crust reminded me of something very specific that I can't quite put my finger on, but it is a good Detroit crust. High rise, but nice and airy in the middle, with a good crisp on the outside. The crispy, caramelized cheese on the edges was perfectly executed. The sauce was bright, but seemed to lack a little flavor. It was similar with the cheese...a good cheese, but seemingly missing a little something. While a very good pizza overall, it just left me wanting. No doubt the creations with toppings are also very good and almost certainly better than the cheese, but for me it's important that the cheese can stand on it's own. Every element is pretty solid, but nothing is a standout except the caramelized cheese (which should be automatic for any Detroit). I do look forward to going back and trying the Sexy-Roni though. It was good enough I'm still glad I went, TBD on how quickly I'll return. I do have a preference for other spots for Detroit style. Service: This is a tricky question to answer as it's a very non-traditional setup. You must text in your order and that process was pretty easy, so no complaints. No one was at the counter for the pizza upon pickup but did get there relatively quickly and the kid was friendly, even if trying to upsell the sauces (that I may have tried if I had more cash on hand). Simple to pay and pickup. Zero complaints about the service, but not much to judge on. Service is no issue. Price isn't great, but not horrible. Just under $25 for a cheese after tax, the specialties hover around $30. Atmosphere: Similar to B+C, Lunita's is only open limited hours during part of the week, operating out of an establishment that is primarily something else. You pick up at the ice cream counter of a Mexican restaurant. It's take-out only. There's not really an atmosphere to speak of. It does almost give the artisan/craft vibe of B+C due to the ordering process and almost speakeasy-like pickup process, even if the pie falls just a little short of that. In the end, if you're a pizza lover in Orange County, while there are better Detroit style pizzas available, Lunita's is worth trying. The pizza was good enough that I'll return to try another. You certainly won't be upset to have tried a very tasty pizza. If you don't care about establishing the baseline with a cheese pizza and jump right into a specialty, you may even have a better first experience than I did. Good work Lunita's, see you again in the future!

Pretty good, high end Detroit style to go. Very filling. 3 pieces and done for me. If you like this style pizza definitely come here. I think the hype died down a bit so don't worry too much about ordering in advance. Just text them.
