Eco Café San Juan Reviews
What a beautiful place to enjoy meal and then some. Campesino is an outdoor farm-to-table restaurant located at The Ecology Center in San Juan Capistrano, California. All the ingredients are grown on the farm and also sourced from other local farms. You order in front and then find your spot. The set up has a rustic charm that makes one feel you are in a truly special place - a regenerative farm that is mission-driven and both for and by community. Now for the food... it was so fresh and delicious. I loved how there was just a glass water bottle on the table so you could serve your self. The subtle flavors of each dish allowed the ingredients to shine. So I had fresh-baked pastries that weren't too sweet (and some were even gluten-free!), a unique salad brassica and grains, a tasty tostada named Huevos Campesino Peace Bean Tostada, and a simple farm fruit and granola bowl. The whole experience was delightful and as they have a seasonal menu, I can't wait to go back and try new things. After lunch, I walked around to see people working on the farm, a Peace Dome where I've read they have events, retired chickens Luna and Henny Penny, and of course the farm stand.
The Farm Dinner at Ecology Center did not disappoint. We started with the Farm Tomato & Burrata Salad with toasted Almonds keeps your palette wanting more. One of the meals we shared was the Ceviche Tostadas composed of Ahi with all there toppings and the baked tostadas really brings the flavor forward. House Made Cavatelli al’dente brings you back to Italy. All paired with an Estate Zin from Buonguido 2023. Dessert had to be the Farm Fruit Crumble. Amazing dishes. Amazing people from Front of the House and Compliments to the Chefs and Cooks putting this all together. Definitely coming back for the Community Table on Saturdays.
Summer of Love dinners are a MUST at Campesino. Second time we have been here, and it’s been so special. The first weekend of the opening we were able to snag a table and the host, I believe, Kate (blond), was so sweet and welcoming. Shes the perfect first person to see at a restaurant. Our server was Trent and he was incredible and extremely attentive. We got the tostada and gnocchi and it was heavenly. The blue corn tortilla is homemade! We got the tart for dessert and it was lovely. Chef Tyler Wells stopped to talk to every table, which made the ambiance even better. Just recently we came back with friends and it was perfect. Kate was there again and she was lovely as ever. Tom was our server and he was fantastic. He had fantastic recommendations and was great at checking in on all his tables. Camille was also so lovely and made sure everyone was taken care of. The brisket and halibut are must trys. If you’re Grateful Dead head and love some intentionally delicious food and living, this is for you!! Thank you Campesino!

The sourdough pizzas are next level — the crust is perfectly chewy with just the right tang, and every topping tastes so fresh. Drinks are delicious. The service is friendly. Love seeing this place grow over the years. It’s such a treasure for our community!
Had an espresso and a whipper snapper (iced cortado) and it was so delicious. If you like a good coffee taste then this is an amazing place to go. And it’s on a beautiful farm and there’s so many flowers. I can’t believe not it’s not busier.
Incredible farm to table. Literally, farm on premise, and the food is limited availability based on what is in season. All pure, no seed oils, healthy, and delicious. No bar but perfect for breakfast or lunch. The only bad thing I can say, is they do not have adequate arrangements for take away food. They seriously need to get proper to-go containers so that you don’t have to eat on site, although the outdoor eating space is lovely.
Wonderful venue for a farm-to-table dinner event with your organisation or company
Fresh food with lots of flavor. Open seats, a d beautiful botanical garden. A tomato soup 🍲 out of this world.
Amazing spot for coffee and fresh food. Make sure you check out Tyler’s dinner service.
You need to be an adventurous eater to enjoy the very unique menu. I and my 2 friends did.
My favorite place of all time. If I had to choose only one place to ever go i would choose Campesino Café. Everything is delicious, fresh and the quality is on point. Their bread is outstanding. Not to mention how agreeable the outdoors is. Highly recommend!
Feels like the coolest place to be. Fresh delicious food… outdoors. Barefoot babies chompin on veggies. The salads are always a 10. Especially the Ceasar. Nice big portions. If you are lucky enough to get there early before the focaccia sandwiches sell out … GET TWO. JZ if you’re reading this hi hello.

Always love coming here! The food is great, staff is very friendly and accommodating, and the place itself is so cozy and welcoming! ❤️

Very friendly, beautiful rustic atmosphere. We ordered 2 cheese pizzas: the sourdough crust was absolutely delicious, but there was hardly any sauce or cheese on it. We also had hot chocolate, which was very sweet and not much of a chocolate flavor. Hopefully, our next experience will be more delicious.
Pricey for the small portions. It tastes good, though. The drip coffee is my favorite and is delicious! Dog friendly, too.
Quesadillas were very thin, hard to chew for the expensive price. Tamales were good, but were overpriced.

The Farm is great !!! And the market is perfect. Food needed salt and the staff or management has no tact. Will never return here. Borderline disrespectful.
