Undoubtedly the ‘mmmmmmm’ experience. Very nice ambience, Great drinks, stunning service and outstanding taste in every dish i had there. I tried Duck liver mousse, Coq Au Vin, Venison chop - best taste.

This is now our favorite local dinner place, and that says something in Newtown. The atmosphere is wonderful and service excellent. The Sommelier is knowledgeable and personable. He's given us wonderful pairings. The wine list is overwhelming so we always consult him. The food is delicious and perfectly prepared. Last night I had the Salmon with mango chutney and loved it while my wife had the chicken which was tender and juicy with perfect sides. The duck is also delectable. Not a lot of tables so plan ahead. It is always booked on the weekends. You'll love it!

One of our go to spots for a date night. The place definitely exudes romance. The food is amazing and the staff is super attentive.

A hidden gem! I can't pick a favorite dish because everything was amazing. Excellent service. Delightful atmosphere. It is one of one my new favorite restaurants.

I enjoyed the dining experience here. Sophisticated bistro. The food was excellent and of course a beautiful presentation. The cocktails were creative I had the fig martini. And I also love the wine list they have a extensive selection of 375ml bottles to pair with your meal. The decor was beautiful and the lay out of tables with the bar area We happened to have a table upstairs and it was a more modern feel. The wait staff was excellent and attentive was right there when you needed a drink or water refill. The appetizer course was perfect seasonal items as well as traditional french bistro choices. We had pheasant terrine and squash. And dinner was excellent line caught swordfish with Ratatouille & the pork chop thick cut and cooked to perfection. Dessert was simple and beautiful. The French press coffee was a perfect. I can't wait to dine again and spend time at the bar in the back of the restaurant.

Has my future sister in laws small bridal shower here a few weeks ago. Gorgeous venue , great staff, good food and drink, perfect location for an intimate gathering with friends and family!

Update 9/2 - Came back for brunch. Their frattatas are simply amazing. So surprised the place wasn't packed. This place is worth our 40 minute drive. Such a pleasant place with a fun wine list, very good food, and charming staff.

This dinner was amazing. Go for the Prix Fixe. Burrata, Brussel sprouts, the filet was gorgeous. Melt in your mouth gorgeous. We did the reserve wine pairing which was delicious. Highly recommend.

One of the loveliest atmospheres I've ever experienced and I've eaten all over the world. The restaurant was so warm and inviting. My wife and I have been there a few times and it was better each time. The food was superb as was the service...I have to give it 5 stars...!!!

Came here for my wife’s birthday. Excellent French food with a twist. Foie Gras was delicious, as were the shrimp cakes. I had the braised short rib, the wife had the steak frites and both were excellent. They have an extensive wine list if that’s your thing. Would definitely recommend.

I had only heard about Nouveau Monde when I read an article about it in Connecticut magazine. So I knew it was a place that I wanted to try and what better time than to celebrate my boyfriend’s birthday! From start to finish, the experience was special. The ambience is lovely and all of the people who helped us with our orders were amazing. A special shout out to Kirstin, our waitress! Not only did she make our dining experience fun, but she even saying happy birthday to my boyfriend! She was a trooper and in a nutshell wonderful! The food was spectacular! The only downside was that when I ordered the Thai beef skewers, there were only two! The only reason why I found this disappointing was because they were truly one of the best things I’ve eaten, in I can’t remember when! The beef literally melted in my mouth! Unbelievable! We will definitely be going back… They have a beautiful outdoor seating area and we would love to take advantage of that this summer! Thank you for such a fabulous experience!

Back in January, we booked a 25 person private party for Memorial Day weekend at Antoinette’s. The communication with Linda was fantastic from start to finish. We were able to visit the restaurant and discuss our plans. This was a few months of planning that resulted in a great event. Our guests were very impressed by Antoinette’s and enjoyed the cocktail hour and light food downstairs before dinner. The food served for dinner was excellent. We were supposed to bring our own custom cake but it fell apart just hours before the event and I was on the phone with Linda again to ask for help. Nouveau Monde was able to provide dessert to everyone at the last minute. The bartender and servers were very attentive throughout. Thank you Nouveau Monde for making our family party a huge success.

An outstanding little place in charming Sandy Hook. I had a wonderful clam chowder appetizer that was not only wonderfully complex and loaded with clams and potatoes, but was also served piping hot, which is rarer than it ought to be. The remainder of my party was literally fighting over the deviled eggs. Literally. I had a superb pork chop entree and two others had the Parmesan crusted chicken, which was fantastic. I stole some of my wife's.

Best restaurant in Newtown and surrounding areas. Best food, elegant atmosphere, amazing service, excellent wine list. I don’t think Newtown/Sandy Hook can handle the sophistication. ( Please be sure to go there before you consider Market Place or Barnwood - - - NO comparison!)The staff is UNBELIEVABLY knowledgeable and friendly! One of the best restaurants I’ve been to in the world! Each dish is prepared amazingly! Enjoy! (And go to Antoinette’s for a cocktail after!)

Second time here. We had a great experience! A large group/table of ten, and reserved seating outside on the porch, which was quite nice. The restaurant owner was extremely accommodating to my dietary needs (vegan and GF), and actually had the chef make special dishes/menu for me. I was really impressed by the effort. The food was fantastic and the staff were all very attentive and friendly. I highly recommend Nouveau Monde. All around couldn't have asked for more.

We there joining a private party. The service was incredible, the setting beautiful and cozy. One particular mention: the Salmon, which I believe is their Soy-ginger salmon was incredible! I woke up thinking about for several days after. I'm still thinking about it. I would love to find a recipe, because I live in Spain, and would live to make it for friends. Thank you for a memorable evening and an unforgettable salmon!

Gorgeous little place. The menu is so carefully curated, and the wine list will blow your mind. Craft cocktails, cozy elegance, definitely check this place out for a special occasion. Just be ready to spend a little.

This is the third time my wife and I have dined here and it is a true gem. The staff is fantastic and the food is outstanding. The presentation of the food is as close to art work as it can be. Such a detailed presentation. We love everything about this place. UPDATE : 8/8/25 We returned and although the food and ambiance was still top notch, the service degraded drastically. I hope it was just a bad night. Surprised as they were not overly crowded. Simple things like filling the water glasses, bringing out spirits before the bottle of wine was ordered (took about 15 minutes to get a mixed drink - in that time the bottle of wine came out). Service team was not in sync and did not appear to have a "captain" that oversaw everything.

Google only goes up to 5 stars - but I'd give the service at Nouveau Monde 6 if I could. The attention to detail was next level and that's before we discuss the food and cocktails. It is a treasure to have in my neighborhood.

Unconscionable that the rating isn’t a solid 5. The entire staff was incredibly welcoming, considerate, on just one top of everything in the best way. I had the hangar steak (I was just passing through on a long drive so I don’t know if they have a revolving menu) but every bite was packed with flavor. If one could bottle the sensation of eating each component together and sell that, they’d make a fortune. Instead, you’ll need to settle for a perfectly mid rare steak that had butteriest texture while sporting a sear and a chimichurri. Luck brought me here, but intent will bring me back again (and I’ll wear a better outfit than a pullover hoodie— thank you all for being so lovely!)

Great little restaurant with a short but excellent selection of food and beverages. Sat here for 3+ hours with friends, eating and drinking and had a great server taking care of us! In fact everyone stepped in to assure our experience was a positive one. Thanks nouveau monde!

A+ dining experience and A+ wheelchair accessibility. You won’t believe the honey truffle salmon! My only feedback would be to consider adding a more hearty vegan dish, the cauliflower was enjoyed by my husband although quite light. Thank you for a memorable evening!

I was referred here by several friends and my son had gone their last weekend and raved about it. I finally made it there Saturday night and was blown away. Our servers name was Ashley and we couldn't be happier with the attention to detail. The music was a perfect sound level and the playlist was on point. The attention to detail regarding the dwellings cosmetics inside and out didn't miss a beat. Now most importantly, the food will blow you away from appetizers to the main course. We ordered the clam chowder and deviled eggs. Entrees - pork chop and spinach lasagne, the best pork chop ever. Just when you think it couldn't get any better the homemade carrot cake and cheesecake came out with the coffee served in warm cups. We felt like we stepped back in time, old school service and charm at its finest. The night is over and we're walking down the stairs as a server was walking up, he stopped to let us go first. He opened the door and said well don't you folks look great tonight. My God what a great date night with my wife.

We love it here! You will not be disappointed. Beautiful atmosphere, great cocktails, top notch wine list, and the food is delicious! The staff is excellent. Very knowledgeable and helpful. One of the best restaurants in CT - 100%. We have never had a bad experience.

This is the best restaurant in Newtown. The quality, creativity, and preparation, and presentation are excellent. The wine list is exceptional and the cocktails are great too. It is more expensive than other restaurants in the area, but definitely worth it.

My wife and I went to Noveau Monde for a date night on a Saturday night. We went for an early dinner at 5:45pm, so the restaurant was not crowded. We were impressed by the nice, clean, quiet, dimly lit setting. The hostess was very friendly and quickly lead us to our table for two with comfortable wing-back chairs. Our waiter was friendly and helpful with his knowledge of the menu. He helped us narrow down which meals to choose... which was much appreciated as there are a lot of delicious sounding choices on the menu. We started our meal with two shaved brussels sprouts salads. This was delicious... I was surprised by how the varied flavors and textures were combined to form this exceptional salad. We also tried the truffle devilled eggs appetizer... only because I can never resist devilled eggs. NM's version of devilled eggs was familiar but different in a good way. For our main courses, I had the ricotta cavatelli while my wife had the day boat scallops. The cavatelli was superb... the flavors, the home-made sausage, the cheese, the sauce, the seasoning... I would have this again in a heartbeat. My wife really enjoyed the scallops (I also enjoyed the bight that she shared with me). They were cooked perfectly (without a hint of sand) and the seasoning was perfect. The price of our meal was as expected... a bit higher than average. However, this is a jewel of a restaurant that is well worth the price tag. The food is clearly the highlight of this experience, but the staff comes in at a close second place. They are professional and seem experienced at working at a high end restaurant.

We hosted a private event with Nouveau Monde at Antoinette’s, and the experience was absolutely incredible from start to finish. The hospitality was top-tier — attentive, welcoming, and genuinely thoughtful. Every detail was handled seamlessly, which made the entire night feel effortless and special. A huge shoutout to Julian, the bartender, who was phenomenal. Friendly, skilled, and engaging — he elevated the entire experience and kept the energy perfect all night. If you’re considering a private event or special gathering, I couldn’t recommend Nouveau Monde more highly. Truly exceptional.

This place is a real gem. The atmosphere is great, but what really shines here is the menu (food & drinks) and an exceptional level of service you'd expect to find in NYC or Boston. Food: Great balance between classic & modern techniques. I'm a carnivor and there was plenty to choose from but my wife is vegetarian and she was impressed by her options. Drinks: Well thought out cocktail menu. A Wine List that will have your jaw hit the floor PLUS service staff who can talk about pairings, know when to offer decanting service and top off your glass at the right moment. Dessert: A dedicated menu with a range of bites AND a full list of drinks including trendy dessert cocktails, stomach settling digestifs from Europe, as well as a comprehensive list of dessert wines you can order by the ounce. Perfect. Service: As professional as I've seen in CT. Diligent without being intrusive, prompt without feeling rushed. Amazing attention to detail.

Nicely curated wine bar with a large wine selection. Service is very good! We only had an appetizer of crab cakes, but they were delicious. Will be back for lunch/dinner in the future. The wine was very good as well.

Lovely spot for a nice dinner. We enjoyed the ambience and the service was very attentive. The view was nice and the chairs were quite comfortable. My recommendations: 1. Cocktail: Spring in Japan 2. Appetizer: Local burrata 3. Main: Pork chop (the table’s favorite, very moist with really delicious grits) 4. Dessert: Limoncello mascarpone cake

Foie Gras dish is not good,cut into small pieces and different shapes. Sauce looks like somebody already dug in. Our chicken was dry, pork chop cooked right. Overall, it's still a good one in town. We will still give them another chance.

We had a dinner reservation around 5pm on a Saturday. The main restaurant room with the bar is beautiful with a dark gray blue interior with handsome tan bar seats. The tasteful decor fits the restaurant theme well - especially those stunning teal high back chairs for some of the tables. The outside dining is just as comfortable with open seating. Service was attentive. Jeff recommended a Blanc de Blancs which my mother in law loved. Dylan was kind and brought our meals out with such care. Food was plated with great care and tasted superb. We had the focaccia bread, chopped salad, tuna tartare, steak tartare, soft shell crab, cavatelli, and lamb rack. Wish I had pictures of all the plates! We will be back. Thanks for a lovely dinner on a Saturday evening.

Don’t recommend the patio or going on a holiday but overall the chef and food are great. We consider this a good attempt at fine dining but needs consistency improvements to be symmetrical with the $ bottles of wine they offer.

What an experience. New to town having purchased two years ago. We came here on a Friday night a few weeks ago right at five - we weren’t greeted at all, rather, we were left feeling that we inconvenienced the team. We were a party of four and were met with attitude as we didn’t have a reservation and told to do so next time. Fast forward a few weeks - made our reservation and arrived with a party of four. Server seemed so kind - I ordered a dirty martini and after approximately 20 - 30 minutes ordered a second. The server returned to my table and said, and I quote “ the bartender wanted me to remind you that these drinks have 4 oz of vodka and you have ordered a second within 20 minutes - I wanted to make sure you were ok “. This was in front of my party of four. Never have I ever been so embarrassed at a dinner, let alone an overly expensive one. The server was replaced by a super nice guy, followed by a unique and relatively passive manager who “comped” my martini. I am in the service industry. I live, eat, and breath customer service. This was disgusting and we will never be back. Happy to speak with management or anyone else that wishes to speak but wow folks, it doesn’t get anymore “green” and unprofessional than this.

My wife and I had one of worst dinners ever at Nouve Monde last night and it was expensive. She ordered hanger steak, which was the most expensive item on the menu. It was fatty and so tough, she could hardly chew it. Unfortunately, she didn’t tell me that until we were on our way home. It should have been sent back. I ordered the pork chop with a bacon sauce. Instead of a hint of bacon, the sauce was overpowering and all I could taste bacon. Ken B

I’ve been coming to this restaurant for over eight years. I’ve celebrated milestones here. I’ve brought friends, family, and out-of-town guests. And while the food has always been excellent, I’ve long tolerated the rushed, pretentious service because I believed the experience, overall, was worth it. But after what happened on my birthday, I’m done. We were a party of four, seated promptly at 5 for what was meant to be a joyful, meaningful night. The staff knew it was a birthday celebration. We ordered generously—cocktails, appetizers, entrées, desserts—spending over $500. And yet, well before we’d finished, the message became crystal clear: we were being pushed out. Three of us were done eating and they cleared our plates before the fourth was even close to being done, and this was early on in the night. He was asked 3 more times if he was done eating, and I felt so uncomfortable for the way they were rushing him. The same rushing happened with dessert, and soon after water glasses were removed without asking. I had about 2 sips left of wine and at 6:50, our waitress informed us—without apology—that we had ten minutes to vacate the table. No grace. No acknowledgment of the occasion. Just an abrupt, transactional push out the door. The website says for a party of 4 there is a 2 hour time limit, so while I don't believe any restaurants should have any limits like this, we had not even hit their limit yet. We still had 10 minutes, and would have clearly finished in that time.We weren't in any way lingering, just finishing a last glass of wine. After eight years of loyalty, I walked out of the restaurant feeling rushed, dismissed, and frankly—embarrassed. That’s not how you treat regulars. That’s not how you treat anyone, especially on a birthday. There are countless restaurants in this area with great food. What separates the great ones is hospitality—something this place has clearly forgotten. We are done with this horrible rushed pretentious service and will not be back again. Update after owner’s response: Thanks for the reply. The issue was never the two-hour limit—it was how it was handled. We were given a 10-minute warning before our time was even up, while still finishing dessert and wine—after we had already paid and tipped. That’s not good service. That’s rushing people out the door. What’s worse is your response. Instead of acknowledging how off-putting that experience was, it doubled down with a pretentious explanation and a condescending suggestion to book a later reservation next time. That tone just confirms the exact problem: this place may know food, but it’s clearly forgotten hospitality. We’re done.

Have been here 10+ times since they first opened and have been disappointed every single time. Our recent visit was accompanied by servers who had no idea about the dishes, waited 20+ minutes for utensils AFTER our dessert was delivered and zero knowledge of wines by the staff.
