The Halal Guys Santa Clara Reviews
Disclaimer: I rate highly. Most of my reviews are 4 and 5. Ok let's get to it. Halal guys is like the Chipotle of middle eastern food. You have schwarma/wrap style and bowls/plates available here. You have your protein choices of vegetarian (falafel), beef, chicken AND THEN you have red rice and lettuce. I usually just get a bowl/ plate with beef schwarma, rice and lettuce with added white sauce ( which alone tastes like mayo idky but on the food tastes really good) . It's semi fast food meaning that it's probably not the healthiest and service is really fast. Highly recommend if you want something tasty and semi healthy. If you like spicy food, make sure to ask for their red hot sauce, you'll need it!
I'm surprised this place has such a low score because it's great, in my opinion, though I've only had their regular chicken plate. I like it a lot: it's a good amount of juicy chicken breast; the rice is good, and you also get some nice salad veggies. And the size of it is more than enough at a very reasonable price.
Went for lunch on a weekday and had no wait. Gyro bowl was delicious as usual and really hit the spot after not having it in awhile. With two white sauces and one red it is just the right balance for my tastes. Prices seem higher than I remember them but that seems to be going around these days.
Good experience and good food to go with it! Only had the small plate with beef and chicken and it was still plenty enough for me. Just my second time to come here but noticed that the beef was a bit over cooked, toasty it seems. Anyway all is in good taste, I got my lunch fill and happy for that.
I like coming here for lunch or dinner to go. Staffs are always welcoming and super friendly. My goto is spicy bbq chicken. The price is pretty good considering company cafeteria charges more for worse food.
Love the food, service, fast, clean, friendly, but parking is limited ar the santa clara location due to it being attached to an apartment complex.
S/o to the staff at this location! Super friendly, nice, and great customer service. I will be back when I’m in the area. Google isn’t always accurate with the restaurant hours so I told my friend let’s rush in case 10pm isn’t the right time. We got in 7-9 minutes before closing and still got a quality meal after the gym and we weren’t rushed and they didn’t have an attitude because we came in minutes before closing- Google said 10pm we came minutes to 9:30pm. Halal guys is just soo good. The chicken is delicious and moist, rice always cooked well, and let’s discuss that white creamy sauce- fire! I love to find healthy options after a good workout and it’s hard to find stuff after 9pm sometimes in Sj with things closing earlier. I plugged in Google and it pulled up this location- I had no idea there was one in this plaza and thankful I found it. They have a new veggie option too with beyond meat or impossible meat, I forget which one. They also have a new eggplant hummus too. So veggie and vegan peeps, go check out a his probably limited eats for y’all. My bowl was delicious and filling and I was so hungry I finished the large bowl about 96%. If you’re really hungry get this one. After a killer workout this supplied me with all the gains and filled me up.
Halal guys always taste pretty good, and it's our backup place for when we run out if ideas. This restaurant gives more per serving than the one in Berkeley. For a more healthy alt, substitute rice for vegetables.
Omar and Monica were very very patient with me as I was doing Uber eats and had to charge my phone and wait for my tips. Honestly very nice and the food was delicious!
I ordered at regular which is a large plate. It comes with rice, tomatoes and lettuce. It’s half salad and half rice. The young guy recommended the combination platter. I got to pick 2 meats. He said that the most popular one would be the chicken and the beef. I went with that. There’s also a list (small) of topping. And of course the sauces. I got all the works. Man O’ Man! (1) my meal was around $17-$18 since I got a beverage. (2) restaurant is very clean. (3) there’s also music not loud just okay for the ears. Food quality: the rice was soft and fully well cooked. Chicken has a juicy flavor and the gyro is salty but not too salty. Once you mix the sauce. I did white and the red it was a great combination. The pita was soft as well but wasn’t a fan of it since I’m not into bread that much. Overall, I recommend this place. And needless to say I will be stoping by more often.
I'm not sure why there are so many negative reviews here but I quite enjoyed my experience at Halal Guys. I got the falafel wrap with free fries thanks to the app. It was fresh, filling, delicious, and nicely wrapped. Get the white sauce, that pairs really well. Red/hot sauce if you can handle some heat but dab a little first to get a sense as it's pretty hot. There isn't a ton of seating inside/outside but when we came there wasn't a crowd as I imagine most people take it to go. I'd recommend this spot for some great Greek food!
A quick stop with a few friends to grab a bite that was long due. Last time that i had food from their location was in LA and a good year or so ago. It was definitely all worth it reliving the moment with the same dish that i had ordered then. The Chicken platter with their magic secret sauce is pure bliss. Juicy chicken, olives , lettuce and tomatoes and some jalapeños along with the bread make it a phenomenal dish and you end up craving for more. The location as well is in a perfect setting though they could do a bit more with the outside seating which i am sure would get better as places open and start receiving more traffic as things get better with the pandemic. An absolute recommendation and worth every bit!!!
I've been here multiple times and the service never fails to deliver. The people there were very chill, and were nice to give out free goodies since I was a regular. The sandwiches are very tasty, they are filled with protein and are delicious with white sauce :D

If you're craving a solid meal, The Halal Guys is the place to go. I had the Gyro Platter, and it was awesome—great flavor and a really good deal for the price. Just a heads up, the spicy sauce is pretty hot, so be careful. A little bit goes a long way. Overall, it’s definitely worth checking out if you’re into Middle Eastern cuisine.

T he customer service was fantastic. r eally was a sight to behold. i enjoyed the food very much, too. H alal Guys is also very halal and not haram. a lso, don't ever get vegan gyro it's not very good. r ated E for everyone because this stuff is PogChamp. d on't ever doubt the Halal Guys they know what they is doing. 7/10 would go again.
We come from NY NJ so we know about Halal guys but it seems their reputation has not followed them to Nor CA. Regardless, the food was decent and the service was good. Their falafels are fresh and yummy and the rice very flavorful. Give them a try!

I've eaten here a few times. It's pricey, but it never seems like they have any customers, so who knows how long the food has been sitting there. Taste wise, I like it quite a bit, but I would not go out of my way for it. I ordered online once, then got a phone call saying that they were out of the lamb I wanted, and offered to make something else. I declined, and asked them to cancel the order. I ended up getting charged anyway, and had to dispute it with my CC company. I recommend trying it if you like this type of cuisine.
I wanted to love this place, but I cannot give it more than 3 stars based on my one visit here. The gyro was overfilled with garnish, underfilled with falafel, and the ingredients did not seem authentic at all 😔. The location is still pretty new, hope they get better with age! The sauce was good though?
2-3 stars for this place sounds about right. The place looks good, staff is polite and fast, but the food is below mediocre. It’s tough to make gyro pita not tasty, but those guys succeeded.
Had so much expectation for the mixed platter. Ended up being sub par. Have had better platters at other places for a cheaper price. The place wasn't busy, I had ordered takeaway and had no issues with the experience.
Idk ... not impressed to be honest. Food was just ok, no attempt to make it delicious delicious. Also I think they should think about putting the yoghurt sauce themselves

Falafel is hit or miss. Rice is okay and the meat options are whatever. The workers are always nice though!

Average for me is three stars. I'd rate this place a little below average based on food and price. Had the beef platter. Rice was a bit hard and beef was dry and very salty. Also tried the falafels. Two for $3+ seems a bit overpriced, especially considering how small they are.
I ordered online for pickup and they didn’t give us the extra things we paid for. The gyro platters are supposed to come with red and white sauce. I even paid extra for more sauces and didn’t receive any red sauce. I also paid for extra pita and didn’t receive that either. I told the worker that it also came with a soda that they left out & she had to check the receipt to see if I was telling the truth. Disappointed…
Honestly was not impressed. I had lunch here and ordered two items (meat plate and falafel wrap). They said it would be a minute to make the falafel. Right after ordering a bunch of other people came in and the guys got distracted making their food so it took 10 minutes to get my falafel, which fine I get it and can move on. But I eat my falafel and it's overcooked. Plus they don't have a tzatziki sauce, instead they have their own special sauce that seemed like mayonnaise with spices added. The meat was good though not special. Overall I'd just rather eat elsewhere.
I love halal guys and been to their San Jose and Sunnyvale store. The one in Santa Clara wasn't great. Store is tiny and staff showed an annoyed attitude. They also increased their prices. $11 for a small platter is a lot!
The portion was smaller compared to our usual sunnyvale spot. No one was there and they took a long time to help us and serve us the food. It was grand open weekend and NO ONE mentioned the TV drawing, tshirts, or other goodies. After we ate, we asked about the shirt and he said... ya, there they are... we looked but they had no XL size. So all 5 of us did not get a shirt.

i use to love this location customer service was always great. and generous portions m. but today went paid 40 bucks for two larges and it was lack luster. portions were so small i had to give my husband my share to make sure he had enough while i ate something else. everything was cold and dry. i watched the worker scoop the meat not fully and then shake some out. wont be coming back. food use to fill the brim now it only fills half way. for the price id be happier at a lesser place like taco bell.

Very bad experience ordered falafel bowl which costs around 17 + usd. It was so bland & tasteless ! The salad wasn’t fresh & portion size is laughable.
I’m not sure about others but, we’ve experienced food poisoning after eating here. Stomach stopped working for a month, which is very desprating.
They forgot to give pitas and white sauce/hot sauce.
Overall very bad service, they tend to keep very less white sauce and when requested for side, wasnt followed, even the toppings request wasnt followed. had a very bad experience both the times i ordered from them. Another thing, i realized that usually their portion sizes is smaller than other outlets i tried in the bay area i.e. oakland and sunnyvale outlets
Ordered veg platter at around 9:10 pm and was asked to pay $5.99 extra for hummus! I mean, can you imagine a mediterranean bowl without hummus or chickpeas as an option!? That is ridiculous. I’d recommend everyone to skip this place and go to other branches.
The worst halal guys I have ever tasted.
Is it a new strategy to save money by not providing the white and red sauce at all(not even on the side) for Door dash deliveries. It happened twice, how do you expect to eat it dry? Poor door dash guy doesnt know. Poor service.
I love halal guys and I think this franchise is not good. I got regular chicken platter with rice. The rice was literally not cooked. I don’t know how they’re serving the rice without properly boiled. I cooked the rice again after going home. Seriously I didn’t expect this from halal guys. I called them to report this immediately and they didn’t pick up.
Halal Guys has a slogan on the bag - "We are different". They're right. But not in a good way. Stone cold pita and funky lettuce for a start, the white sauce seems like a chemistry experiment. Their Gyro is not complicated food (it wasn't even wrapped properly) so you worry that worse things go on here.
I have ordered atleast 5-6 times from Halal guys. One thing that I have noticed is that you get a small portion size even if you order a regular bowl through Food delivery apps like UberEATS/Door dash. The quality isn't great as well
I was always coming to the store, but this time the lady that who was supposed to Check my order a very rude disrespectful lady I assume that she didn’t take any classes How to treat a respect their customers.
Ordered for pickup, my first time. Was not even started, and I typically don’t mind waiting as the weather is super nice out. Portions for falafel and beef gyro were sparse…the worse thing was that I bit into a piece of black metal and split it. Like probably a charred staple or something in a gyro slice. Hope my tooth isn’t chipped… This could have been super dangerous for a child or a dog if swallowed. Fries were yummy, but probably not healthy 😆
I ordered through doordash. My order clearly mentioned to add extra white sauce and extra hot sauce. They even charged for it. The person who was making order either can't read it or is just lazy. I also paid for hot sauce to go packets. Did not receive them in order.Chicken-falafal sandwich did not have chicken. Terrible management. Waste of money and time. Screw this place.
Very small portion size, very less protein quantity. Chicken was very dry and falafel was overcooked and get dry as well.
We are big corporate and ordered 16 plates today and all of them were like this, tons of lettuce and just little bit of meat. Dear Halal Guys please work Halal!!

They didn’t let us sit in the restaurant at 8:30 while the place closes at 10pm. That’s a weird rule. Probably won’t come back to this place again
I placed a large order this morning 7/7 for tomorrow 7/8 online. After placing the order I realized the delivery time had adjusted itself to PM instead of AM. I have been trying to reach this store via phone number provided and no one is picking up. I've reached out to customer service and have left voicemails and notes online and no response.
Very bad quality in this branch compared to the SF or NY ones. Its not that fast moving, hence you get old stock. Chicken stinks, breads are old and they stink too. Bread also sometimes has fungus. Waste of time and money.
Who owns this franchise? A real cheapskate. This is not how you get repeat business! You charge $2 for extra sauce and try to give as little food as possible to the consumer. The worker used a half a scoop for each portion. If you go to Halal Guys, visit the South San Jose location. No one cares about extra sauce and the portions are generous there. Maybe you should take some business tips from that location.
EDIT: One year later and still no response to the email I sent them that THEY asked me to. They have the time to respond to every single review on yelp and Google but not to the emails sent. Garbage location as evidenced by all the reviews. Horrible experience for dinner yesterday. Signs and Google says they're open until 10pm. Wife and I went in just after 8pm and two of the four tables are taken and the other two have their chairs up like they're closing. We order with no issues and the guy is speaking English with us just fine. We are paying and I ask him if we can move the chairs down to sit and eat and then he starts saying his English not so good and he doesn't understand as I'm pointing at the empty table. He packs our food in a to go bag so we eat outside where it's kind of chilly and windy. Won't be back and I'm telling everyone I know about this experience because I tell everyone when I have amazing service and when it's horrible.
