An amazing spot for sushi! Their selection was unique and varied and the service was lovely! The amount you’re given is great too. The cooks and employees were incredibly sweet. Seating isn’t an issue; I personally appreciate the little tables inside, and there’s additional seating outside. Wait time was also reasonable for the amazing quality of the food. Please support this business! They deserve it!

Got a nice Tempura roll and 2 orders of Gyoza. No alcohol here, but pop over to the bar next door and grab a drink. Decent patio seating for all patrons of Abbotts square.

This is a great place with excellent sushi and great attention to detail. We normally do take out. However there is a large patio with tables behind the Octagon and I had lunch sitting in the sunshine. The menu is very good and good selection including cooked and vegetarian rolls.

The food was phenomenal. Great small business owner than as well he puts a lot of time and effort to make the food fresh and you can taste it! I highly recommend

Our sushi was great. They could really benefit from hiring a native speaker to proofread their menu, though. An unclear menu plus owners who don't speak native english is the perfect recipe for confusion when you are ordering a meal. One of their sushi menu items is called "Real Crab". Is it a roll? A salad? A bowl? Perhaps no one will ever know. I can't dock a star though, because the sushi tasted great and the owner was friendly despite the language barrier.

Great atmosphere and great prices. Get the California crunch role and the sashimi platter with beer from the tap house next door. Low key the best place for sushi date night in Santa Cruz

Great experience. Warm friendly greeting and help in selecting from their menu. By far the best sushi around (quality of ingredients and presentation were too notch along with the fact they did not skimp on their rolls like other places in town). They staff went above and beyond due to the fact there was a power outage and still made a great meal essebtially in the dark! We will be making this our go to spot for sushi

Food: excellent selection of sushi and sushi bowls if you wanted too. The sushi is plated nicely and the portions are big enough for sharing. Service: great service fast and friendly. You order at the counter, they give you a buzzer and then you retrieve it. If you haven’t been here they do provide recommendations of what to order depending on your tastebuds. Ambiance: the inside is small. It is shared with another business. Can’t eat inside, but they have plenty of seats and tables surrounding the building. It’s very nice to sit outside, of course when the weather is lovely.

I had doubts about sushi in Santa Cruz but this place proved me wrong! I got the unagi roll and it was delicious; the price was also super worth the amount of sushi I got (unlike all the overpriced sushi nowadays!) Recommend!

Ordered Chicken Katsu and it was actually really good! It’s a really small place to eat at indoors, but there are plenty of tables you can choose from outside which is nice.

Nice to have sushi available here. Typical over the top, made for American taste rolls with toppings and dripping in sauces. Certainly not an authentic Japanese sushi experience here but it gets the job done when you want something other than burgers, chicken sandwiches or pizza.

I tried the crunchy cali roll and the orange chicken. I would not order the OJ chicken again. A big portion, the sauce is nice and it's served hot and crispy, but you're getting more breading than meat for your $$. The sushi was Ok, not fantastic or fancy. If you eyes are bigger than your stomach stick to the sushi.

Drinks are very overpriced, kept finding pinbones in my salmon sashimi. Proportions for food are also rather small.

I guess it was okay, but I wouldn’t go back. As you can see in the image the sushi was not cut very neatly. The person making my sushi was chewing or eating something while doing so which really threw me off too. Tastes very slightly better than grocery store sushi.

My sushi roll tasted so dry and plain and one of my sushi pieces only had rice in it. Also their chopsticks can be hazardous gotta be careful to not get splinter. Also the lady at the front doesn't care about customer service.

The spicy miso ramen was the worst ramen I've ever had. Very bland, not spicy, super disappointing broth may as well have been water. Instant ramen is five stars by comparison. Poke bowl was alright, opt for the sushi over soups.

Would not recommend, the lady running the restaurant couldn’t be bothered with simple request of extra utensils or even splitting our food into 2 take out bags instead of one. Our food was just shoved in the bag causing a few of them to leak out. I had to ask for another bag and i got a mean look out of her and a few word were said that I couldn’t make out. I asked for 5 chopsticks and 5 spoons and was told I could only get 2 chopsticks and 3 spoons. The dishes we ordered didn’t even match the pictures either we received a few different food items that made the experience even worse. 10 out 10 I would not recommend.

The worst sushi I’ve ever had in my life, gummy rice and bone in the salmon. First and last experience for sure! Not recommended

This food is terrible. I ordered a simple California roll and I don’t know what that was, but compared to more superior sushi restaurants in town it was trash. There was more rice than anything else in the roll and the taste was off. At first, I thought it was just me, but the person I was with hated it too and they had something completely different. I just ended up throwing it away. I couldn’t push through and eat it anymore. What a waste of money. I knew I should have just purchased a burger from next door. Never again!
