Front & Cooper Santa Cruz Reviews
I’ve been a fair few cocktail places, across multiple countries and would confidently insist people not to sleep on this one! It’s in a food hall which might put some people off, but it’s tucked away in a corner and the vibe is great. The bartender was one of the most competent, likeable and skilled folks I’ve met behind the bar. The signature cocktails are divine, the spirits selection phenomenal and the pivot to classic cocktails seamless. If you can, you should go!
Busy local eatery with variety of food and drinks. Had the Saint Adarius IPA and it was refreshing, citrusy and great for hot day out. Bartender was friendly. No beer flights are available but you can get a shot worth.
Went for the Christmas pop up bar! So cute. Yummy drinks. Expensive but worth it for the season. Kind staff.
Excellent craft cocktails with a special menu of interesting drinks unique to the bar. I had a "piscrew sour", encanto pisco, orange acid, and sour beer with what they called a "schezwan buzz button" clipped to the rim. Start the drink and then eat the flower, then enjoy the rest from the new perspective. The flower was Acmella oleracea and has some interesting effects. I'll be going back to try the rest, Highly recommended. There's a separate Wine, & beer bar towards the main dining area as well.
When you're in Santa Cruz and want to treat yourself and others to a posh place to have a cocktail... This is the place. There's something for everyone and I love how nice everyone dresses up here. There's a food court with something for everyone including vegan and gluten free. There's the Abbott's Squareon the otherside of the door with outdoor seating with huge warm heaters. Kids are welcome. There's often live music.
Delicious , creative and unique cocktails, great service and environment, and very fun drink choices!! This is the Norse meadows and pineapple, sage, and thyme gin and tonic
Handcrafted cocktails. Friendly staff and great atmosphere all in Abbots Square! Good place to start a night out.
Purple haze was a fantastic drink - Ube Sake was a great find. Live music was a good vibe.
Fantastically unique, expertly mixed drinks. Great vibe and plenty of outdoor seating.
A little hard to find but worth the effort. The vibe in the marketplace is so fun and the drinks were bomb!

This is our favorite bar. The bartenders are top notch. The drinks are top notch. We just stumbled across it one day, and now when we travel to Santa Cruz we have to stop here. Best bar ever, highly recommend.
Embrace the season early in the season! You must try Christmas cocktails while they are available. The snowball old fashioned is whiskey forward without being too sweet.

A great high class cocktail experience great bartenders. Just a little expensive. *update with covid restrictions lifting this place was amazing live music with lots of dancing and fun. Drinks were delicious but again expensive .
A friendly bar located in the back of Abbott Square Market! They have a big variety of affordable cocktails to choose from. Many fruity ones, some gin & tonics, non-alc options, etc. I tried the Dragonfly cocktail. I was surprised to see a cocktail with lychee in it! It is a fairly rare find in such a westernized-bar. It was served in a pretty coupe glass. The cocktail itself was VERY strong. I didn't taste any lychee (besides the garnish), but that bourbon definitely shines through. This drink got me feeling quite buzzed to say the least. I also tried a sip of my friend's Pennyroyal Tea cocktail and this drink was more refreshing & light~

Beautifully crafted artisinal cocktails! Nice spots to sit and sip. Not really a belly up to the bar kind of place. Great for meeting friends for a drink! 🥃

It’s honestly really hard to give this bar a rating. The drinks were 10/10 amazing. They were unique, creative, well crafted and delicious. My husband and I ended up doing a few rounds so we could try a fair amount of the menu because everything sounded so interesting. The first bartender was pleasant enough. The second bartender refused to talk to or acknowledge me and would ONLY talk to my husband. He would literally get my husbands drink order and then walk away - not look at me or ask me if I wanted anything. My husband had to tell him I wanted another drink and only then would he take my order. I asked him for the bill twice and the bartender completely ignored me and wouldn’t give us the bill until my husband asked for it. Even though I was paying, when he brought the bill back he gave it to my husband to sign. I noticed other women at the bar were getting similar treatment. It was one of the most frustrating bar experiences I have ever had. I hope this was a one off and just that particular bartender because the drinks were excellent and if I am ever in Santa Cruz again I would give it another shot. However, I have a hard time recommending this place to any women.
The bartenders are great. The cocktails are both expensive and very, very weak (choose one!) but tasty. Good for a big group.
Our drinks were fantastic, made with a skilled touched that's for sure. I felt really bad for our bartender. The bar was full and there were people standing behind nearly every chair and he going drink for drink for such a long time without a moment of levity. Seems like having a second to help would be good. He was also yelling at people for standing near the ADA counter trying to order but hey, I imagine based on design economics of this bar that one would expect it to be human nature to stand there if you are tying to get someone's attention under such a circumstance. If anything, would be good to be upset at Abbott Square since accessibility is tough anyway- too many tables blocking the marathon length ramp to even reach the storefront. Makes me think though of someone yelling at a person on BART for sitting in those preferred passengers seats near the doors when no one of that circumstance is within a football Field's distance of the BART station lol. But yeah kind of bad vibes!! Which is a shame because these were some fantastic cocktails.

Most disorganized slow rude bar tending system ever ! Drinks fabulous service downright insulting. 30 minutes standing in a line for a beer at 8:30

There were four guys behind the bar and NO ONE else in line and they still couldn’t be bothered to even say “hi” or “we’ll be with you in a minute.” It was not busy - they were chatting with each other, and I stood there for several minutes before I moved on. I have spent a lot of money here in the past and the cocktails are delicious, but will never be back.
