Soooooo GOOD! A must try. I did the triple cheeseburger with 2 sauces. & every bite was delicious & delightful. The service is friendly, prompt & on point. They do a great job constantly cleaning the tables. The Restroom was spotless. Which is a great sign in such a busy establishment. Chill vibes.

Alright — first off, I’ll just come out and say, personally, this is the 2nd best smash burger in LA so far. Very soft breading, burger is made from ground short rib and it carries a lot of flavor and some crunch. Fries were fairly good as well! Also, a shout out for very nice and attentive staff — unusual for casual eating in LA. Food: great Atmosphere: super casual Service: great

Fab smashed burger and fries! Generous portions, true to its name. Outdoor seating by the beach. Nice lads running the restaurant. I ordered just a single burger with fries, but I could barely get through half of what was served. Perhaps I’m just not built for hardy American food. But I still enjoyed my meal nonetheless. 8/10

A great burger! Fries were hot and ice cream tasty. Just wish there was indoor seating!

Best smash-styled burger I've had in California period. The meat is WELL seasoned and prices very fair. $3 for a sharable size of fries, can't beat that. Two double burgers, fries, unlimited drinks and extra house sauce for $30.

Everything is magnificent! Burger fries and ice cream all fantastic. Very special flavor. The sauce and pickles are very very well seasoned. You sit outside. It’s very easy to enjoy.

Delicious burger and fries with house sauce! Friendly staff and outdoor seating is ok. I did not like the ice cream unfortunately. But definitely go back for the burger and fries!

Hands down the best smash burger on the West Side! Kristen at Heavy Handed made the whole experience even better with her great service. The burger absolutely destroys anything you’d get at Shake Shack—perfectly crispy edges, juicy, flavorful, and just the right amount of sauce and toppings. We also got the basket of fries, and wow—easily enough for four people. We barely made a dent in it, but every bite was worth it. Super crispy and seasoned just right. Another cool touch: they had a bunch of great merch for sale right by the walk-up order and pick-up window. Definitely makes you want to rep the brand after tasting that kind of quality. Can’t wait to come back!

Always hard for me to judge burger joints as a vegetarian, however I have thumbs up from the rest of the family when it comes to this place. Their burger are pretty loaded with a great patty, a handful of pickles, a slice of cheese and their secret sauce. The place is breathing LA, with a window counter to order and pick up and two large outdoor spaces to eat on site. Their fries portion is generous and if you have still some room for more food, try their ice cream. Definitely a great place to take a break from the beach or simply go with some friends for a quick bite on a Friday night.

Heavy Handed is truly one of a kind! Their outdoor plaza seating and public street setup create the perfect laid-back atmosphere to enjoy some of the best burgers and fries around. Whether you’re grabbing a quick bite or hanging out with friends, the open-air vibe makes every visit feel special. The food is incredible, the energy is unbeatable, and the whole experience is just next level. Definitely a must-visit spot!

We’ve been wanting to try these burgers for a while and today was the day! My boyfriend got a double while I got a single with hot chilies on the side. Their house sauce was really tasty and creamy and their fries were fried to perfection. The patty of the Smashburger was thin and crispy and the overall flavor was there. Thank goodness for the paper packaging though as this burger was a bit messy. Not rating atmosphere as we took our burgers to go, but there was lots of seating available in a cute uncovered patio setting .

Straightforward but delicious burger experience, this unique spot serves only one type of burger, but you have the option of choosing either one or three patties, making it perfect for any level of hunger. The casual outdoor setting adds to the charm, but be prepared for a more laid-back vibe—it's more of a burger stop than a traditional restaurant. There are a few seating areas, with one side covered. The burgers are juicy and flavorful, and despite the limited menu, the quality shines through.

The best flavor you will get out of a smash burger. I’ve tried pretty much all the so-called “best smash burgers” in LA and I gotta say this place takes the top spot. First bite blew my mind. I had never had that much flavor come out of burger patty like that. That short rib beef they use is no joke, you can absolutely taste the quality. The portion size for the heavy fries is insane. You definitely get a lot of bang for your buck when you order it. I’d say it’s the size of 4 animal style fries from in n out. Couldn’t even finish it between two people. Can’t recommend this place enough. I wish I knew about it sooner

If you're looking for a burger fix you need to check out Heavy Handed. The menu has a bunch of great options, but would recommend the double combo. The double burger is packed with juicy, flavorful patties that hit the spot every time. The single is good, but the double is the perfect balance of meat, cheese, and all the fixings. The vibe here is super chill, too. Whether you're grabbing a quick bite or hanging out with friends, the casual atmosphere makes it a great spot to relax and enjoy some killer food. The staff is always friendly and quick to help out. So, next time you're in the mood for a burger in Santa Monica, would recommend Heavy Handed and go for the double.

Good smash burguer. Nice place with outdoor tables and great vibe to enjoy alone, in couple or group. Fries are incredible and food is overall good. The burguer is good and tasty but I was expecting something more unique when I saw the place crowded and good rating. Special highlight - very clean and good restroom for customers. I would come back and recommend!

A solid smash burger. The place seems to be entirely outside in the elements, but it's very clean. They have great lamps for the chill. A double burger, fries and drink will be $18.

Great burgers and fries and awesome beer selection. Their flavors are on point, their heavy sauce has a really nice acidity to it. Fries are super crispy. Kind of wish the burger had a bit more crispness in texture in the patty and bun but otherwise very nice.

I ordered delivery from this place about 9 months ago.. I had heard so many food influencers rave about this burger.. I always pass by it and I tried it.. for that one time it was nothing that special to me.. the fries were not that good and the burger was average good I did not understand what the hype is about.. if I every try again and change my mind I will update this review but for the most part it could not even beat in n out for me. But it was not bad at all.. pretty good average burger

This hamburger joint, renowned for its smash burgers, is ideally situated on Main Street in Santa Monica, between Ashland Avenue and Kinney Street. For your convenience, a paid parking lot is right behind the shop. The burgers here are exceptional—juicy smashed patties nestled between soft burger buns, topped with perfectly melted cheddar cheese that elevates the flavor to another level. The special sauce adds an irresistible twist, making this burger stand out among the many I've tried. Given the high-quality, the price is quite reasonable. While the service leaves something to be desired, with our order being taken incorrectly (resulting in us missing the combo), the overall experience is still enjoyable. The vibrant mural enhances the unique dining atmosphere. Only outdoor seating is available at this location.

The menu is really simple and the food was great. The burgers are delicious but would taste better with a few more toppings like lettuce and tomato. The bun also tasted really cheap, I expected a more premium bun for the price. The fries are thin and crispy which I love. I prefer these fries over the larger sized ones. Staff is friendly and parking is easy to find behind the restaurant.

Update: I paid for extra sauce , they refused me to just give it to me without arguing then the woman just throw it in my basket with food. Customer service is below anything imaginable. They charge $20 for the combo and cannot give a small amount of sauce without a drama Solid 3 stars. Popular burger spot in the heart of Santa Monica close to the beach. Interior looks cool, great graffiti on the wall, hip hop music. People kept coming and coming on the Easter Sunday. They don't accept cash. I got a Single combo and a Chocolate soft ice cream. The burger was tiny but tasted good. It had sweet caramelized onions and really cool marinated pickles. The after taste was a little sour but still worth trying again. Shoe lace fries got cold in minutes and became dry salty chips. In-house sauce is cool but too runny so you need a tons of it for the fries. The ice cream was great - a big portion, and tasty. The sitting area is ok, half seats were missing umbrella. The wind was blowing from the every corner so it was rather uncomfortable. For the combo and an ice cream I paid $25 lol. Service was great tho. Overpriced hipster burger joint that exists to rip you off

This is a burger that wants to be iconic. The place itself sets the tone with the aesthetic anything but subtle: super bright colors, massive digital screens with glossy close-ups of burgers and fries. The menu shouts at you with a megaphone. The short rib patties are generous and meaty. The bun holds its shape. Everything’s in place, but the spark isn't there. The house sauce plays it safe and the crispy edges you expect never quite arrive. The fries are thick-cut, diner-style. A lot of them, yes. Too many even. You pick at them, then stop. While the name promises a bold hit what you get is far more gentler. You’ll walk away full, sure, but not fulfilled, and you might not be thinking about it tomorrow.
