Después de un periplo para llegar desde Canarias a Sarria, escoger esta pulpería como el primer lugar para almorzar y probar su famoso pulpo de calidad el cual puedes observar en directo como lo hacen, fue un gran acierto, la verdad que espectacular. Un majar para el paladar, no hay mucho mas que añadir. El ambiente muy bueno y la atención rápida y amable. 100% recomendable, no dudes en pasar por aquí en tu paso por Sarria.

Excelente sitio para probar su exquisito pulpo y ver cómo lo preparan. La atención perfecta, nos buscaron sitio rápidamente y eso q íbamos sin reserva previa. Buen ambiente, l@s camarer@s muy amables. Un sitio bastante recomendable para todo el q visite Sarria. La lástima es q sólo abrían de 12:00 a 15:30

Espectacular pulpo. Hacía años que no comía un pulpo que ves como lo están hirviendo y sirviendo y llevo 14 años haciendo distintos caminos De Santiago. Tambien tomamos empanada riquísima casera y una carne cocida muy rica. Recomendable 100%

As I was walking around this cute town, I passed by and heard happy voices and saw people filling the long tables enjoying the day. I decided to go back after my walk and try it and I was not disappointed. Locals filled the restaurant with a few other Camino pilgrims like myself. And the waitress was so nice and helped me find “meat and potatoes“ when I declined the octopus. Perfect authentic experience. And the bread - wow so good!

Walk into this well-known restaurant where locals eat and bring their friends. There is communal seating, a short kit of optional plates and desserts. Wines and beer are available and the bread is delicious. The most interesting part is that you get to watch the owner, Luis, do his thing he cooks entire giant octopus to perfection then whips out his cooking shears and cuts it up. Each plate is perfection. The taste, spices and the octopus cooked to it's perfect point make this a place to come back to when in Sarria. I also loved the queso con membrillo (cheese and a gelatine like parte) that together are perfection! A glass of albariño tops off an amazing lunch. Therr are other options for first plates, but people come for the octopus! All for 17€. No vegetarian options

Perfect stop for lunch. As soon as we sat down we were immediately served and offered their classic pulpo dish, which was delicious. We also shared a cheese and quince dessert and then a cafe de puchero to finish. The staff were very friendly and the atmosphere of the place was lovely. Highly recommended! We got there around 13:15 and were seated immediately, but it filled up but about 14:00. So maybe best to arrive earlier rather than later.

Great service ! Great food !! We (3) had lunch there. The place was packed when we arrived at 2 pm, however the service was very quick and smooth. The waitresses were very kind and helpful. They don’t offer a wide variety of dishes, but what they have is gorgeous, typical food from the area. Luis , despite being busy took some time to chat briefly and for a photo. We definitely recommend this restaurant. We had booked a few hours before and didn’t have to wait for a table.

Delicious fresh octopus, the best! The restaurant seems to have constant lines. Dining is at communal tables, and the menu was octopus and meat w/ potatoes. Everyone orders octopus. It's a simple meal with bread, no plates, just napkins. You get 1 glass for wine and coffee. Desert was local cheese and quince, served communally. Our meal for two, with 2 glasses of wine, octopus, an empanada-like slice, coffee and dessert totalled 20 euro.

Una primera toma de contacto en el Camino muy buena! Las reseñas y recomendaciones que teníamos no han defraudado en absoluto. Pulpo muy rico y tierno. Fuimos sobre las 14:30h sin reserva (un martes que todos los demás restaurantes de la zona estaban cerrados por descanso) y aunque tuvimos que esperar casi media hora, el tiempo del servicio lo compensa (súper rápido). Tienen cuatro opciones: pulpo (puedes pedir ración o media), empanada de atún, carne guisada con patatas y filete de ternera; de postre queso con membrillo y helado. Precio muy bueno (para dos personas unos 30€ tomando ración y media de pulpo, empanada y tres cervezas).

El pulpo muy rico aunque la ración pequeña, también probamos el caldeiro (plato típico de Galicia), que por cierto muy rico. De postre pedimos queso con membrillo (esto si nos lo pudimos ahorrar porque no nos encantó. El bar tiene terraza exterior y el interior es bastante grande. Dentro te encuentras el chico haciendo el pulpo en directo. Aunque por poner una pega la camarera nos quiso cobrar un plato de más por equivocación. Visité esta pulpería y fue una experiencia excelente. La empanada gallega estaba espectacular, con una masa crujiente y un relleno muy sabroso. El vino blanco de la casa fue un gran acierto, fresco y perfecto para acompañar los platos. El queso con membrillo llegó en su punto justo, una combinación clásica que no decepcionó. Y por supuesto, el pulpo fue la estrella: tierno, bien aliñado y con el toque de pimentón justo. El ambiente es acogedor y el servicio muy amable, lo que hizo la visita aún mejor. Sin duda, un lugar al que volvería.

I revisit my review for August 2025. The quality and taste are still good, but portion seem to decrease size every year we go, looks like they prefer to be focus more in the tourist for the Way of St. James than the locals. This was very obvious in some of the dishes last time we visited --- A modern tavern that prepares and serve the octopus Galician style in the traditional way. Perfectly cooked and served in wooden plates you will eat it on shared tables as the the tradition requires. Very nice and helpful stuff. As desert you should have the Galician soft creamy cheese with quince cheese

This is a good restaurant, specializing in a very limited set of the dishes, which are typical of the Galicia region. Above all, the pulpo á feira, in Gallego, or pulpo a la gallega, in Spanish (Galician-style octopus), is a traditional dish of Spanish cuisine, typical of Galicia. People flock to the pulperia, both locals and tourists, especially to taste this very nice preparation of the octopus. The service is a little hasty (even with only one paper placemat for every two place settings), but effective. The waitresses are kind and attentive, almost too much, as they give the impression of being in a hurry to free up the tables for other customers.

They are way understaffed (the servers were literally sprinting around to juggle orders), which makes for a tense/stressful dining experience, but the food is delicious. Pulpo is piping fresh and full of flavor. The bread is also delicious (though they charge extra for the bread service). You’ll have to aggressively wave them down for everything - to order, ask for utensils, make sure your beer actually arrives, etc. Your best bet is to spit out your order immediately when they sit you down lol. We never even saw the menu because it was never offered/we kept seeing tables being served before us, so we just asked for the pulpo, and that was that. Ventilation is not great inside either. But I guess if you want amazing pulpo, this is the place to go.

La comida es muy buena y recomiendo comer pulpo ahí por que está exquisito. La única pega es que en la carta de las pizarras no viene el precio de ningún plato y eso no me gusta, me gusta pedir sabiendo los costes ya que es un poco incómodo ir preguntando por plato al camarero , y otra cosa negativa es que invita a chupitos solo a quien les parece oportuno, a la mesa de al lado sí y a nosotros no en nuestra cara y eso no está bien.

We ate here 10 years ago - the octopus was so tender, well seasoned. Now, April 2025 we stopped here again hoping for the same. But no - the octopus wasn't tender or seasoned. And the servers doesn't care about being nice. I noticed a group of Pilgrims stopping there to eat and the lady was more irritated than polite by the fact that they want to eat. Definitely not coming back or recommend.

I ordered one pulpo (octopus)and one Carne Ó Caldeiro (beef) and one coke cola. I was so surprise that It costed 25€. It’s normal ? Or because I am a piligrim, not from local ? The woman who served me was very friendly! The food was okay not very special and outstay. Its too expensive as it is. I don’t understand that it seems a very popular restaurant for local people.

Not what it used to be. Have been there also 15, 11 and 8 years ago for the "pulpo". Each of that time it was very good in all ways. Now we got a rude lady and less than average food. For me definitely the last time to eat in this pulperia.
