A favorite place to stop after work, Christian and his crew are absolutely wonderful!! The food is always amazing !
Best kept secret in the capital area! Amazing bartender, great food, and an overall chill atmosphere. Love it!

Great staff and great drinks. My friends just turned 21 and had a great night there, and me too, obviously.
Always excellent food, stellar service, and the atmosphere is so comforting.

Big improvement since the last time I was there 15 years ago! Great beer selection!!!
Like all the other reviews, very good place! Good vibe for hanging out having some drinks and some good pub food. Great prices and deals. Went last night and the bartender (who was also serving food and taking table orders) was excellent!! Definitely plan on going back.
Allison, as the woman next to us said, "is a d*@[!".... in a nice way lol. Fun times. Guy near us complained that on $1 Taco Night someone should tell you fish tacos are $2. Totally worth it!!! Good atmosphere. I will be back.
Everything was delicious. I had a burger and tots. My burger was cooked just the way i ordered it. The tots were not greasy and perfectly cooked...crunchy outside soft inside. The service was great!
Great food. Neighborhood flavor friendly staff Beer choices very good Good specials. Clean just a nice neighborhood bar !
Really good sandwiches and a nice selection of draught beer. We love Chelsea, a super friendly, fast, efficient and bubbly waitress.. good food and atmosphere... What more could you ask for...

Amazing staff, they welcome you back and suggest new things. Delicious food... but the Atomic XXX wings will make you cry.
Preordered & Picked up dinner. Fish & Chips, Chicken Tenders and Chicken Parm Fries. All quite good. One of our favorite neighborhood places!
We had a really attentive bartender/server which is highly unusual at a bar in my experience, but I appreciated him taking a minute to come check on us every once and a while. :)

Went for taco Tuesday, great food. Great craft beer selection. Went back for a burger, so good! Brought half of it home!
I loved this place. Great beer selection and the food was really good. I'll be back.
Really great neighborhood bar. The menu is tasty. Great hit dogs, and the wings were a nice selection of flavors, and perfectly decent. Service was friendly and helpful, just a little slow, so don't be in a rush. Overall would be more than happy to go back.
Great food at a fair price. The service was great as well. I'm so happy they reopened. The wings were the best I have had in years.
We stopped in yesterday for the first time and it definitely won't be the last. They have a wonderful selection of brews to chose from. The sampling I got last night was so appreciated and tasty. We both had burgers and when I say it was one of the best I've had in a very long time, I'm not kidding. Give this place a try. You won't be disappointed.
As a Schenectady native, I passed by this place for years and never gave it much thought. Decided to give it a try one night when my husband and I were craving a good burger. Little did we expect, the burgers were absolutely spectacular!! I always gets the blazing saddle and my husband gets the mushroom burger. Definitely one of the best beef burger we've ever had anywhere. Since then, I compare all other burgers to The Horse's Lounge and have yet to find one that beats it. The burgers are juicy, perfectly cooked and you can really taste the beef. I question the review that said the burger lacked seasoning...Everything we've ever gotten has been perfectly seasoned. The fries are clearly house made and are always yummy. Appetizers also very tasty! We've never been disappointed by this neighborhood gem and will continue to give them our business.
This place has the most amazing wings, great drinks, their food is fresh and the music is always good. Christian and his crew definitely know how to have a good time with their customers and keep the atmosphere fun and entertaining. Anyone looking for a good time with good food and drinks should here.
Always a wonderful place to have a few beers and some food. The staff is friendly and engaging. The clientele is are good people. I always meet someone and end up chatting. I will definitely be back.
Make sure you see the bearded wonder for a drink and grab some wings while you are there. Can't wait to try the flat bread next time.
By far the best wing and food in general. Food was fresh, presented well, and also hot when hit the table. The owner as well as staff was very friendly and welcoming. I will definitely will be going back as well as ordering take out!
I’ve traveled all over the country and this is the very best burger I’ve ever had from anywhere in my life. The second best place is some random $*!t hole in Vermont but that incredible burger doesn’t even come close to this place. I’ve never physically been inside this location so I can’t speak to that- but who cares! It could be a dumpster and still get 5 starts from me!
Great atmosphere. Food was excellent bar food. Les was a wonderful bartender. Kept everyone in their happy zone. Awesome experience. Can't wait to go back and try Taco and Tequila Tuesday!!!
First time back since you reopened, great food, great service , great beer selection !
Great Pub with delicious food and great prices. We loved the food so much, we added some blue cheese dressing to take home with us!
It’s like our great neighborhood bar and restaurant. In fact my hubby an I just celebrated our 35th anniversary there on 12/31/25!!
In town for a little bit just was driving by and saw New York rangers flying out front. I'm a rangers fan and the game was on at 7:00. I went in there at 6:30 sat at the bar bartender put on the anger game and was very attentive. Great service. I didn't ask his name but he handled the whole bar. Good people. No craziness. Ordered a Heineken onion rings which both were fantastic. Look I'm mostly interested in good servers and someone that's smiling and that's what I got. The bar stools were far enough apart where you weren't hitting shoulders or elbows with other people who's good nice hometown bar. I miss it. I live in Scottsdale most of the year and everything's a free-for-all. I don't care what bar you're in Anyways, I can't say
Today I have The Horses Lounge I went in to order. Was greeted as soon as I walked in, the lounge was clean and tidy. I Ordered lemon pepper wings, with corn nuggets Wings were perfectly seasoned, and crispy. And the nuggets were good. Nice and sweet inside crispy coating out. The food was really good They had light music playing but it wasn’t overly loud where you can’t hear anybody. Was a nice lil vibe with really good food. 🙃 —51ATE
Super cozy inside! The bartender was kind and attentive. The food came out quick, but we only had the pretzels. Large beer selection. Plan to go again!
The wings were perfect! They had a great deal until 3:30 12 wings 2 beers 20 bucks. I asked for my wings medium and garlic parm tossed together, these were some of the best I have had in the area recently. Will definitely be coming back to try the burger deal (also 20 with 2 beers until 3:30).
Really happy to have checked out this neighborhood bar. Jason was charismatic and friendly and provided great service. The wings were crisp and very good. The blue cheese is unique and very good. Was really looking forward to this place reopening and it did not disappoint. It really does have a nice neighborhood bar feel and I really had a great time and can't wait to go back.
Great atmosphere.. Great staff..The manager is amazing.. The wings are out of this world.. The blue cheese is the best I've ever had.. Highly recommend they're peanut butter and jelly wings.. Bavarian pretzels were delicious as well.. A must if you are in the area..
This place is known for their chicken wings and I like to travel around and try out places, so we hauled the 1 hr drive as it was our first time. We ordered for an app the soft pretzels with beer cheese and mustard… so soft and so good. Now for the wings we did BBQ, Garlic Parm & PB&J. Yes I did say Peanut Butter & Jelly and it was so so good, the BBQ was like a smokey flavor with a tad of a bite that follows but very good. Those were my 2 top favs so far. There was garlic parm to which was also good. We had Rachel the manager wait on us and she was very friendly and quick to get food out. This is definitely a place I’m going back to and taking the kids next time. She did take down my idea of salt & vinegar wings as they will be trying out new flavors so we will see. We did ask about the very little parking as we were new to the area and that was the only thing I was worried about, but we were informed the lot on the end they are redoing so there will b more so no worries there.
I'm going to preface this by saying that this has become my "Cheers" bar. I've been here quite a few times and I have never been disappointed. I snagged a picture of my last quick bite- a Chicago Dog (no peppers) and Thai Chili boneless wings. *Wednesdays are wing night and they have happy hours on weekdays among a bunch of other weekly fun things.* The dog was delicious- not overcooked and the toppings are a fantastic combination of sweet, salt, and briney vinegar from the pickles and relish. The Thai chili boneless wings were fried perfectly- crispy outside, coated well without being goopy, and the inside was juicy and tender. Their beer selection is top tier and their friendly, all-inclusive atmosphere is the stuff that fluffy, technicolor dreams are made of. The staff is awesome. Christian and Danny are a star team holding down the fort and they do a fantastic job with their food and drink menus. Even though I'm a regular patron, it doesn't matter- everyone through the door is welcomed. I highly suggest you try one of the many wing flavors or one of their burgers, both of which were voted in the top three in the area by our local "Best Of" for burgers and wings. Their crock of chili is delicious (I get extra chips to scoop it with) and the specialty fries are great. And if you like pickles with a kick, their Horsey Bites are AMAZING.
Was finally able to try out this local bar in Schenectady. First impressions of the place gives off a warm and welcoming vibe. Friendly wait staff and awesome bartenders led to a great experience. First ordered a couple of drinks and they have a wide variety of craft and locally brewed beers in New York. Started it off with two appetizers one was loaded tater tots with homemade chili, sour cream and cheddar cheese. For such a simple appetizer it was very good the chili was not heavy and tater tots had the perfect crisp. The other appetizer we ordered was the Chicago style hot dog which was a nice sized all beef hot dog with the fixings from Chicago and they pulled it off well. We kept our dinners light and ordered two dozen wings which one dozen included salt vinegar and dill seasoning which I've never seen before and the execution was phenomenal. The fact that they kept the wing so crispy but also giving a great vinegar taste truly left be coming back for more. The other dozen wings were everything bagel seasoning. The wing was coated in a honey garlic sauce so that the everything bagel seasoning could stick to it but the seasoning that they used was an amped up version of everything bagel seasoning that you would get from the store. Definitely recommend if you want to try something different. The cherry on top of the entire night was ordering the Clydesdale Clucker to go. It is a specialty burger that could be described as massive meets elegant. It is a combination of a flame grilled burger with a chicken patty tossed in buffalo sauce on a brioche bun with blue cheese. I ate half of it when I got home and my fiance ate the other half and I can see why the owner wanted me to try this as I was left speechless. Hats off to the owner, wait staff and the kitchen for producing an exceptional experience and I will definitely be recommending this to all my family and friends as a stop to eat in Schenectady.
This is my favorite bar! Not only do they have great beers on tap they have the best food. You can tell that they put a lot of time and effort into their unique and delicious food and drink creations. Their wings, tacos on taco Tuesday, and tots inventions are amazing. The owner and staff are super friendly and will always take time to chat and ask how everything is. This is our go-to place when we want to get out a have a beer and delicious food. We know we’ll never be disappointed!
I only thought to take one picture of the new special dessert pretzels our waiter gave us for free but we tried the peach margarita, fried raviolis, pickle coins, chicago dog, french fries, chicken parm sandwich, and boneless stinging honey garlic wings. Everything we got was amazing! We highly recommend! I was shocked how reasonable the prices were and the wait staff were all super friendly! Oh and we got a free sample of their truffle sauce for our fries that was also amazing!
Great wings, drinks and customer service first time good experience
Taco Tuesday was pretty good. The service was excellent and the overall vibe of this place is great.
Wanted to try something new and this seems like a neighborhood gem. If we lived nearby we'd come by all the time. Simple menu with lots of ways to make things your own.
Great deals, friendly staff. Lighting is a little dim and the music choices that night werent my fave but all in all great experience. Try the wings!
We've been there twice and plan returning. They are very friendly and accommodating. Each time we tried a different version of their wings and were impressed. They also have plenty of other food to offer at competitive prices. Give them a try. Oh yea, they have beer from local breweries.
I have had many a meal and drinks at the original Horse's Lounge, so when it was reopened with a goal of continuity, I made a point to stop in one night for dinner. On the plus side, it's very clean. The old joint had a bit of a "dive-y" feel to it, probably due to the pool table. Alas the pool table is gone now, replaced with tables. I miss the pool table. It lent an air of "neighborhood joint/workingman's bar" that the new Horse's lacks, so far. Maybe in time the interior will get a little scruffy around the edges and develop a sort of patina of age. And I hope at least some of the other regulars will come back. The menu features wings, burgers, foot-long hot dogs, and flatbreads and will look familiar to anyone who has been to the sister restaurant, the Broken Inn in Niskayuna. There is an incredible range of options available for these entrees: sauces, cheeses, veggies, meats, and dressings. There must be thousands of different ways to put them together. Totally customizable. Prices are reasonable, too. Bring cash or an ATM card, cause credit cards are not a thing here. Service was attentive, accurate, and upbeat. In fact it was my server's first shift, ever, at the Horse's but she handled herself like an old pro. The walls are decorated with framed photos of Schenectady in the days when it was the OG industrial powerhouse. The old Horse's had a regular series of specials, like Burger Monday, when burgers were half price during happy hour, and Taco Tuesday where little street tacos were 3 for $6. I am glad to see that the new owner has brought back taco Tuesday. I'm going to have to go and check it out. I don't expect the old prices, because that was pre-Covid and before suppliers realized they could get away with sticking it, pricewise, to restaurant owners. Note to the owner: please put micheladas on the drinks menu on Taco Tuesday! Nothing goes down better with tacos on a hot summer night than an ice-cold, spicy michelada. It was unknown at the old Horses' but it's a Mexican standard. The only complaint I have is that my foot-long dog came on a six inch roll. I had dog sticking out a couple three inches at both ends, which made things messy since I had asked for sauerkraut and chopped onions on mine! I wanted each bite of the dog to have the condiments with it, but they did not balance well on the naked dog ends. Come on! It's not hard to get a roll the same length as the dog! Today I walked by the Broken Inn and they had their hot dog cart operating on the sidewalk....but wait a minute! Same deal! Standard sized rolls with foot-longs! It's not cute. It's not quirky. It's just irritating and looks silly. I want to try their whole hawg dog from the cart, but I'm gonna insist that cut it into two pieces and put each one in a roll! Only way to keep the add-ons on! Get longer rolls! Please.
It's your standard neighborhood bar that has been refreshed. They have great nightly specials so check out their website for sure. The food, from my experience has always been exemplary of pub food, so their burger night is a good deal...taco night not as much for me. The patrons are a diverse cross-section of Schenectady and all are welcome, but be well behaved. Mind your manners, be friendly, start conversations, but just don't be a jerk.
Years ago, I didn't like the name of this bar. Its sign showed a picture of the back of a horse with a fence in front of it, that resembled a tic-tac-toe symbol that replaced that bad (or that dirty word) with the words "the Horses" just above it with its slogan just below it, and years ago, the name of this bar was too inappropriate for the city, and too offensive for both children and adults years ago that had a swear word that was mentioned on that sign that children are not even allowed to say to their own parents (parents would punish their children for saying it), which was: "The Horse's -- -- --," (but that dirty word itseIf wasn't mentioned on that sign, because it was against city regulations to put it on that sign). That sign also had a picture of a horseshoe on top of it on the top right hand corner. That picture like the one shown on that old sign was even seen on its menu, or its ad when that bar did daily specials years ago. That sign years ago was black with gold writing on it. Today, its new name is appropriate for both the city, and for both children and adults who walk by it, which is called "The Horse's Lounge." This new sign has a picture of two horseshoes on top of it. This building where this bar is located in on McClellan Street, from the outside almost looks like a medieval-style castle with a porch out in front of it.
Little disappointed, food is normal amazing coming from Horses Lounge. My most recent order for delivery missed the sauce for my pickle chips and cheese on my fries, which there is an up charge for. The Chicken Parm sandwich was delightful, but made for an incomplete meal. Hoping the next order turns out better.
This is a small neiborhood pub. Limited seating, low light, seating was uncomfortable. I had pizza and wing. Wings good but expensive, pizza was just ok nothing I would travel to get.
Friendly, neighborhood service. This is your typical greasy pub food place, but maybe they don't get enough business to keep things super fresh. Burger had a little old-meat flavor to it and draft beer tastes less than the best places, but is just fine for a random dinner and beer stop. They sometimes put on way too much sauce (think slathered sour cream on a bun) , so consider asking for sauce on the side if you are venturing for the first time! Fries are fantastic and tastes a little like five guys.
There was nothing wrong with it other than it was a little difficult to get parking, the food was good bud Limited in choice, there were a few good or better beers but not a large menu there either. Service was not particularly fast or slow, nothing to complain about but nothing to say that it would be somewhere you would make a special effort to stop there. Why is this new real it was a pleasant crowd there at the bar it's just about how bad and was somewhere that sounds comfortable to stop and have a drink.
The patio out front is really nice! They have four tables with umbrellas and the chairs are comfortable. We were happy to learn that dogs are allowed on the patio. Service was friendly and helpful. It was our waitress’s first day and she did well answering our questions, what she didn’t know, she went inside and returned with an answer. Food was okay. We started with the broccoli cheese bites. They were served with blue cheese and quite good. Ordered a Greek salad. Veggies were fresh, dressing was very good. Croutons were hard and greasy. We ordered a dozen wings and were happy to find out we could split the dozen and get two flavors. My husband got the garlic parm and I got the PB & J. Both flavors were very good, but the wings were over fried. The texture of the wings were just off for me, they were hard and chewy. Some of the fried foods were over fried. Maybe this changes by who is in charge of the fryer…not sure we’ll be back to find out.
I'm not gonna lie...the garlic wings was awesome...but out of my $62 order that was the only thing fresh...my kids fries was caked in what's look like 3day old grease..and my order of disco fries also looked 3days old...mind you my wife took a cab round trip to pick up this $62 disaster meal...totally disappointed😏
Me and my wife are constantly eating/drinking out. We wanted to save some money and came here. We ordered mozzarella sticks, wings and 4 Manhattans. Total bill was 90 pre tip. So much for saving money. Mozzarella sticks $9, wings $16 , which is reasonable. But our $10 Manhattan turned into a $16 Manhattan without noitice. It was made with Buffalo Trace!!! Which cost $30 a bottle. This amounts to a $24 up charge!!!! Which if we were informed by the owner who waited on us fine. But we were not informed. THIS EXPLAINS WHY NOBODY IS EVER HERE!!! We won't be coming back despite the good wings. FYI wing prices are down again!
We are partly to blame getting to a restaurant at 7pm with a toddler but we were told that a party of 3 had no wait on the phone. It took about 40 minutes to get our appetizers of tots, wings, and chicken tenders. Not the worst thing ever. I assumed burgers would follow soon. 40 minutes later I just asked for them to go. 15 minutes later we finally got them with a screaming toddler. Full price for food we get to reheat. It was my wife’s birthday.
Stay away from their flatbread; no way. I ordered flatbread with feta cheese and fried chicken on the evening of Wednesday, November 19th, and the flatbread had inedible dough - hard and stiff as a piece of plywood. In addition, there was not even one piece or crumple of feta cheese in my order. If the cook appeared before me, I would knock him on his tuchus. But the server was good.
Chairs were terrible shaking and rocking like they were about to break food was ok but very expensive
Went there with a couple friends of mine Got 3 drinks mine was a Double got An Order of $7 Nachos,We ordered 3 Burgers No fries with Let tom Onion, Had another Drink while we waited for our food I was charged $9.00,for my Drinks each & $5 for another shot the other 4 drinks I paid for were $9.00 each the burgers were $13.00 each and He charged me for 50 for let.50 for a slice of tomato. And 50 for a slice of onion Ridiculous he Charged me $125.00 I showed him the check he said that Right I said where did you learn Math I left $60 and walked out Never again Highway Robbery the Place Isnt that good
If u plan on going here for a drink make sure u getting something to eat cuz that's there rule. Went for a drink after me and my girlfriend had dinner somewhere else the owner got upset because we didn't by any to eat . Since I can't reply to your rebuttal I will extend me review. covid requirements when having drink customer must purchase some to eat have been lifted a long time ago yet u still have four sign that I can see states as such . PS it took me ten minutes and eight try to get your bartender attention so I can have a second beer cuz he was to busy having conversation with others .
