In just stopped to check it out while here for work. Beautiful place. Cabins look really cool.

I went for the day. Picnic lunch. The day was perfect .Not too hot nice breeze. Cabins look great. Looks like a fun place to camp.

Once the snow is melted the short drive is well worth the absolutely beautiful views. Only down side is there is no swimming in the lake

J
John Klasinski

Great place to camp or reserve a cabin. The views are spectacular and there are plenty of activities, like hiking, fishing and swimming. Go there every year. Some of the family camps and the others stay in cabins.

Wonderful little place hidden in the sierra buttes area Golden Lakes open in the summer time too much snow in the winter forward to remain open. Overnight campsites available a lodge that offers food and a quaint little late to Swim 🏊‍♂️ in .

Have not stayed in cabin but have eaten at the restaurant and drinks at the bar on the water. Gorgeous setting, dining in early 1940's Lodge style, great food, nice staff.

Please don't come here. You'll hate the incredible scenery, the cool restaurant, the floating bar, the trout the jump in your lap, the legend of old dead "Sardine", the pond, the marsh, the boardwalk, the hiking, the majesty, the unspeakable beauty and wonder. Please don't come! ever.

Magical evening with friends at Sardine Lake Resort. Cocktails at the most scenic bar ever followed by a wonderful meal.

Sardine lakes are great for hiking, fishing and enjoying the outdoors. You can rent a small boat or go kayaking. Swimming is great for the family and kids at Sand Pond.

This place can be anything, romantic getaway to family adventure. Loved the campground, camp host is a little angry... Bring a cooler and flotation for Sand Lake A MUST!

Beautiful lake and hiking in this area! Lots of history as well. Rangers are friendly and knowledgeable. Had a blast!

The staff were very patient and friendly. They were busy, yet still had full attention on questions regarding boat rental and fish cleaning etc. Pretty popular little spot, and I totally see why.

This is heaven on earth! The Sierra Buttes are beautiful, Sardine Lake was pristine, and the Sand Pond was fun as usual 😀

Sardine lake resort is a beautiful spot to visit, it is tucked away in the sierra foothills, there is amazing fishing and hiking in the area.

Started coming here in 1964, camping at Salmon Creek Campground and Sardine Lake Campground. The kids loved swimming in Sand Pond, just below the dam. Stopped yearly visits around 1985 when the kids were gone. I rented a cabin for the first time in 2012 and hope to return every year. I love the area, people and especially the nice people running the Resort. The scenery is out of this world, Just sitting on the deck of the cabin is enough for me to relax and play board games with a friend, All the trees, lake and blue skies. Nice hiking areas and a small jaunt to the store in Bassetts for an ice cream cone...

VERY rustic cabins in one of the most scenic places I know. Restaurant serves wonderful food (dinner only, Wed-Sun). A plethora of hiking trails in the area. I love our annual trip to SLR.

The ambiance and perfect getaway from the crowds can’t be beat. I camp at Sardine campground. Fish a little then have a delicious meal at the end of the day. I like the 8pm seating and cocktails at the boathouse at 5pm.

Love this cute little resort. You must check out their floating dock bar out front! Opens at 5pm. One of the most incredible views you'll ever take in.

Awesome gem in the Lost Sierra! Wonderful, quiet lake. Boat rentals are a breeze—and a good deal to boot! Wonderful for an afternoon on the lake!

Loved everything about this area. I was just up for a day trip and didn't stay overnight, but the whole area is great. Plenty of stuff to do near by in Graeagle as well. We went kayaking in Sardine Lake and swimming in Sand Pond. Plenty of hiking to do as well.

Really neat place! Beautiful lake!! Boat rentals are a must to tour around the lake and/or fish. The beer was ice cold. Loved it

Got drinks before, walked around the campsites. Super pretty views, the food was incredible. Wonderful service and eats.

Been going here every year since I was a baby. This place is a hidden gem in the Sierra's with an amazing view of the Sierra Buttes. They have good fishing and boat rental prices are reasonable. Unfortunately I haven't been able to stay IN their cabins for several years because they are usually always booked up, but I go camping in the area and always come here to fish and relax.

A must see place tucked away in Sierra foothills. Great spot to fish and build great memory’s. Upper sardine lake is beautiful and worth the drive (MUST HAVE 4X4) the hike is just as beautiful. They have small boats that you can rent and enjoy a day of fishing.

Wow, what a hidden gem! We enjoyed the cocktail bar at 5:30pm. It was busy when we arrived but when people started heading to their dinner reservation we had the place to ourselves. Great drinks, the bartender was generous and so friendly. The views are unbeatable. Definitely a memorable spot!

An absolute gem. Grew up going here and despite having more visitors still retains its charm.

Been enjoying this resort for decades. We love it for its rustic feel and amazing views. The biggest change is the food. They have finally placed an exceptional chef in the kitchen and every bite of my flat iron steak was a dream. The caramelized onions lit up my mouth with every bite. Whether staying or just stopping by for dinner (Reservations Req!) It is worth every moment of your time.

Long time favorite. Food this time was the best ever. Flat iron steak & seafood special (shrimp, scallops & pasta). Everything cooked perfectly. Mud pie a hit. Touche Sardine Family - we so love the lake & cocktail shack hour!!

Second time we've dined here. In fact, we scheduled our trip to the area around our dinner reservation. As expected the food and atmosphere did not disappoint. The bison was amazing as was the duck.

J

The view of the lake was absolutely breathtaking. The cabins looked rather roomy, with a wooden bed outside for those summer nights that you just can't resist staying inside. I would recommend this resort for anyone with a hankering for a week to remember.

This place is very special to me, and I feel so blessed to be able to visit each season. The scenery, the history of the region, the food, the cocktail hour, and the atmosphere are unmatched. It's an extremely beautiful place, the lodge is cozy and intimate, yet vibrantly social, and the staff strives for excellence, making you feel right at home. I cannot recommend SLR more. Don't forget to visit Poor George's before dinner! Nick is a wonderful host for your cocktail hour.

Cocktails served in the boathouse at 5 overlooking the lake and the dramatic Sierra Buttes then at 6 the dinner bell rings! Amazing dinner, but make reservations a couple of months ahead, very limited seating. Rustic lodge setting . Gourmet food was delicious.

Awesome alpine resort and lodge especially if you like riffing it. Talents stayed there, just have eaten there, vivisred the bar for a cold beer after hiking and rented fishing boats for the lake. Workers are knowledgeable of the area, we have seen the inside of the cabins, but normally just use our trailer in the area. You need to make reservations well in advance. Opening weekend is normally Memorial Day weekend. They probably are already taking reservations for 2019.

For almost 7 years, we would go to opening weekend dinner at Sardine Lake Resort with our friends. The food, service and atmosphere can't be beat. In 2018, we were engaged there and in 2021, we were married there. Getting married there wasn't our original plan since our 85 person guest list would be much too big for the space. But when our wedding was destroyed due to COVID and our venue being incredibly unprofessional, we were forced to figure out plan B. The silver lining of downsizing our guest list meant that we could hold our ceremony at Sardine Lake Resort. Thankfully, Lee stepped in and was so kind through the process of not only re-planning our wedding but in providing a friendly ear while we navigated our issues with the other venue. Our day could not have been more perfect. Our guests still comment on how unreal and beautiful the view was. In the end, I believe that everything worked out for the best. We are forever grateful to have celebrated our union by bringing our loved ones to a place that was already so special to us. We cannot wait to return for years to come as our family grows! My family's been coming here since the resort first opened. Beautiful mountains, awesome swimming, great hiking, close to town and Tom, Jan, and Chandler (who own and operate the resort) are absolutely wonderful. Great time to go is in August when it's not too hot and not too cold.

One of the top high quality places in the whole area, great for camping and outdoor activities with family and or friends, fishing is always awesome and staff at the resort are friendly with positive attitude. The nature scenic views and trail of the upper lake is exquisite and once in a lifetime experience.

My wife and I have been going to sardine lake resort for many years. We have dined at the lodge over those years but never stayed in the cabins. The lodge is nestled on lower sardine lake looking straight up at Sierra buttes, one of the most stunning views you can hope to see. This accompanied by exquisite dining makes for an outstanding special; it was our 29th anniversary. The camping at sardine lake campground and others is great and convenient. I highly recommend sardine lake resort .

Beautiful place, lake is fishing only so don't expect to go swimming in the crystal clear water! Very scenic views, hotel very close so you never have to leave!

Loved the peaceful lake. Rented a row boat, needs repairs! But rowing around the small lake was a fun thing to do. Oars need repairs!!

Beautiful location and cozy old lodge. The challenge we had was making any reservation. The phone lines were down, contacting by email was ineffective, and plans need to be made months to a year in advance for lodging and weeks early for dinner. Private parties close everything and last minute cancellations were not well conveyed by waitlist. Boat rental was fun and easy.

We just came for visit. You can reserve a cabin, boat and restaurant reservations. Food is really good. You can also have a picnic by the lake. The lake is crystal clear. There's no swimming. If you just want to relax. This place is in the Northern Sierra Nevada mountains. A little hard to find. It's so beautiful.
