Steak Pit Snowbird Reviews
The Mrs. and I reminisce about this meal frequently! It is pretty rare to have steak dinner and watch wapiti white rump dear walk across the background view. Awesome staff and very considerate on gluten free options. The shrimp cocktail was amazing, and the steaks were cooked perfectly.
We have been spending 6 weeks throughout the ski season over the last 9 years. I had never been to the Steak Pit- I know strange… and boy have I been missing out! What a treat and great experience. We started with the shishito peppers- the biggest and meatiest I’ve ever had. The house salad was good we both had blue cheese dressing. I had the salmon with asparagus- cooked to perfection. He had the Scallops and Lobster Mac. All great options. The service was fantastic and we will be back for a steak next trip! Thank you for a great evening!
Fantastic evening with amazing food! 14oz Wagyu medium steak was so smooth and tender, double cooked potato, asparagus, and carrots were perfect, and our waiter was amazing! Completed the perfect day staying at Cliffs Lodge! Definetly going back.
We sat outside on the gorgeous patio. Our steaks were fantastic. Service from Heather was excellent. The mud pie dessert was shareable and yummy. Constructive criticism: in my reservation I requested seating on the patio and said we were celebrating my birthday. When we arrived, the host did not offer to seat us on the patio. We had to know to ask. And no one mentioned or did anything for my birthday. Not a big deal but don’t ask if we’re celebrating something if you’re going to ignore the answer.
Hands down, our favorite overall restaurant in Utah. The steaks are phenomenal, always cooked to perfection, and we've had excellent service, often from some of the same servers for the two decades we've been coming here. We especially love to eat here on New Years Eve, as the ski patrol lights up each skier in the dark and they slowly snake down the mountain outside.. Its better than fireworks, but they have those as well. The house blue cheese dressing is incredible, thick and chunky, and made from scratch, and the deserts are generous. We even own an old wooden menu board from back in the day. We'll be coming to the Steak Pit for years to come!
We came here to celebrate an anniversary and everyone was just amazing. The food was so good and the atmosphere was perfect. We come here every year and it does not disappoint. Update (10/6/2024)..... Came back for an anniversary dinner. I'm so disappointed to hear that many of the food items will be no longer served after the ski season. It will tomahawk chops and artichoke to name a couple. I'm all for change, but even some of the staff were sad to see them go. I've also heard from others that they won't be returning due to the slacking of service. Or server, Heather, was amazing! She took care of all of our needs and was so lovely.
My husband and I came here on our anniversary and it exceeded all expectations! Evan was our waiter and he was amazing! So attentive and kind! I got the filet mignon and the twice baked potatoes and my husband got the Ribeye and the lobster mac and cheese. Safe to say we will be coming back! :)
I didn't have high expectations for a hotel steak house but this place delivered. Absolute great service and the steaks were phenomenal.
Food was delicious and service top notch! Thanks Evan! We had a very memorable evening! We had the chicken rice dish, fillet mignon topped with lobster, carrots, and twice baked potato, shrimp cocktail, glass of wine, and a cocktail. Cost around $200. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner and the ambience was amazing! Thanks Steak Pit! Always a pleasure!
Food was so excellent! Our server was such a sweetheart and went above and beyond to make our night! Sent us home w/a to go dessert and snuck a candle and matches in there so we could easily celebrate. We love her!!!
Great service by Heather. The steaks were delicious. Quiet ambient.
Such a hidden spot. Wonderful view not expected by the name. Long tradition living up to the reputation. Great steak selections and balance for non steak eaters. Cozy private booths. Service at the top of the game.
Went in for a birthday meal and Evan took care of us. He was so amazing and sweet! The food was great also! Thank you Evan for going above and beyond for me and my sister🫶🏼
Impeccable food, great view, and laid-back staff (at least in the off-season). First time here but will definitely return.
Great service! Dinner rolls were nice and fresh! I enjoyed the entire meal!
We had a great time visiting the Steak Pit. The food is fantastic and the service was very professional.
The steak pit is a great place to eat. We both had the special. A filet topped with crab and a bernaise sauce carrots and a baked potato for sides. Brought our own bottle of wine to celebrate our anniversary. We spent the night at The lodge at snowbird a short walk back to the room to watch the sunset 🌅
Oscar filet is always delicious and worth it!!!! And their salad with house bleu cheese is the BEST! A must if you are at the Bird. We frequently brings visiting guests here for a wonderful experience.
Came here for our hunnymoon dinner. It was fabulous. We own a condo up here for years but this has our first time eating here. While eating we had a surprise guest.
Cool place to dine in , a bit of pricey through. I like service, ribeye, jalapeño potatoes. Scallops were not on my taste through.
Excellent service and great food. Our server was very attentive to our needs and was very polite and patient. The indoor dining had a very nice atmosphere. My wife and I each ordered the 10 oz sirloin and it was amazing; cooked perfectly, mine medium rare and hers medium well. The cheesy potatoes were also very good. Overall great food and 5-star experience.
This is single handedly the most awesomest place I have ever been. So freaking sweet, the waygu steak was a little under cooked but I still ate it and loved it. Wine was off the chain. The dessert put me in a coma, pray for me 🙏
Delicious. I had the 8 oz. Filet. It was gorgeous. Our server Brendan was great. My wife had a New York strip, she was pleased. I also had roasted carrots they were surprisingly tasty. No complaints.
If you are looking for a nice steak dinner in Snowbird, this is the place to go. The restaurant has a cozy/traditional steak house look. We enjoyed a wonderful meal based on great recommendations from our server. The all-you-can-eat house salad was delicious with a choice of three dressings that tasted freshly made. My wife ordered the daily special which was a marinated steak kebab and I had the filet. Both were excellent. Our grandkids loved the kids selections as well. We were too full to try the deserts, but they sounded great as well. As a side benefit, we were able to see two of their regular customers, a porcupine and raccoon. The kids enjoyed watching them eat some bred crumbs.
We came here without a reservation, nonetheless we were seated at a decent table and received excellent service from our waitress Abigail. I had the 12oz New York Strip accompanied with Shrimp Scampi which made for a rather delectable pairing. The Lobster Mac & Cheese was also top notch!
I just arrived of a long trip form Europe! Exhausted and jet lagged. Had to leave early before I fell asleep. But the staff were amazing, boxed up our meal and I enjoyed one of the best wagyu burgers I’ve ever had. Will be back for a steak when the lag has worn off
Love the food. And better yet… their staff goes out of the way to accommodate. Most recent example, we stopped in for dinner after along day on the mountain. Our two year old was hungry and a bit fussy. From the moment we entered the Steak Pit., it felt like we had a “village” of kind people ready to help. The hostess helped us quickly get seated, then while waiting for her crab macaroni and cheese, our toddler announced she was hungry. Our server swung by to tell us she put a rush on the kids food. Shortly thereafter, the manager swung by to give the kids more crayons. It was a perfect way to end the evening.
My wife and I came here on our anniversary. We would recommend this to anyone. What’s better than eating good food in the mountains, beats your average steakhouse downtown. Food was good, and the staff was great.
A super-rare almost flawless dining experience. Great food, awesome service and relaxing atmosphere. A beautiful dessert on the house for a birthday - much appreciated. Will go again for sure. The pork chop is delicious. The whole meal was exceptional.
Great place. The wagyu ribeye was incredible. We didn’t finish it and had to take some in a box. Even a day later, cold, that steak was incredible. Val, our server was also very nice!
I enjoyed my dinner at the steak pit. I loved the filet w bernaise sauce. The mushroom la, bread, salad were all really good too. The pork chop was a little overdone for my liking but still good The best part was our waitress Jess. She was funny and personable. She took great care of us. Would go back
We came in 15 minutes before close (I know I know), but they greeted us with open arms. Felt nothing but welcome and hospitality from this joint when we walked in. The waitress was extremely kind and helped us navigate the menu with ease. We chose the starter salad, New York Strip, and lobster mac and cheese. Steak came out perfectly medium rare, and the Mac was creamy and delicious. No complaints on our end. Would recommend to anyone looking for a nicer spot while at Snowbird.
Enjoy our dinner there, the steak were very good. Great staffs and great service.
Expect to give a credit card number for a reservation, and a $50 non-show charge. Been going to the Steak Pit for decades! The quality of the food is very good; however, the service this past time was slow and really disjointed. Traditionally, the big pluses were the salad bowl and dressings (especially the blue cheese), and they are now being rationed in double-thimble-sized individual portions (just like a take-out restaurant). Hard to figure given the current prices, long history, and consistently good service. The setting at Snowbird is awesome!
Enjoyed a lovely meal here with friends. Food, drinks and service was a good experience. A bit pricey, but I guess it is par for the course. My steak was a beautiful cut and perfectly cooked.
Good steak house at Snow Bird. Service and drinks were great! Be sure to save room for dessert because everything was delicious!
Pros We liked the food and the service was good. Cons- it’s too expensive for what it is and the whole restaurant is under smog. You’ll be smoked once you come out and be smelling like steak. Bacon wrapped scallops and the blue cheese salad were really good. The Ribeye $70 per plate was overcooked, on the chewy side but tasted good. Their infamous potato side dish needed seasoning but it tasted good once you salted it. My partner didn’t like it. The bread and garlic butter was great.
This is the second time visiting. The first time was OK, this second time was not. In short, for what you will spend, you can get much better food somewhere else. The view and area are the only thing going for this place. The Shishito Peppers did not have much flavor. The steak was ordered medium and delivered well done. The flavor of the sauce on the stark was odd and not good. The twice baked potato was cold. Ordered a carrot cake to go and it was OK. Went for a work dinner. I would not spend my own money to go here.
I would say the food is good but I would compare this steakhouse to Long Horn. Don't expect much, understaffed, and long waits. Spent over an hour here to get my food while tables seated after me were getting food faster. I took a picture of my rib eye and potatoes.
Decent. Probably wouldn’t go back for the price. Ordered the 16oz ribeye, med rare. Steak was thinner than expected and overcooked to med/med well. Caesar salad and sides were underwhelming. The service was great and we did enjoy some good wine here. My total was nearly $150 after tip for a steak and two glasses of wine. Not worth it. Do better, Snowbird!
I was pretty disappointed with the food. The twice baked potato was great and side salad was basic but great as well. The entrees is what did not impress me. The trout was good, but extremely small and not plated well at all. The steak was very chewy and not worth the price. We spent $200 on 2 entrees and the cheapest bottle of wine on the menu, and it was worth 1/2 the price. I felt like I was eating at Texas Roadhouse, not a fancy steak restaurant. I will likely not dine here again. Though we did not like the food, the service was fantastic. Extremely friendly waitress and very attentive! The food did come out too fast which rushed the experience, but they had no problem with us sitting at the table after we paid the bill to finish the wine.
A bizarrely low-brow experience in a high brow setting, and with $45 steaks I expected something more. The floor manager was great, but our waiter was unknowledgeable, overl I'll timed, and just goofy. It would have been fine in a restaurant billing itself as anything other than upscale and expensive. Really took away from the ambiance for us. The food was good. Mine was average for the price, but my father's was excellent, which bumped the review to two stars. Nice view from our table.
Very disappointed with the food & service. If you want to pay Ruth’s Chris prices for Applebees food while having your waitress ignore you all night, eat here.
The food was decent but the staff's inattentive and rude. They really did not care to have my kids at the restaurant. They didn't appreciate the fact I didn't mention the number of kids (< 10) in my party when I book the reservation and, in front of us, discussed putting us in the back of the restaurant so we wouldn't bother their other guests. Then when that didn't work out, they tried to get my kids to promise to be on their best behavior cus we're at the front of the restaurant. Our waiter had a difficult time understanding our order... I honestly have never had such a challenging "ordering experience" at any restaurant. Even asking for no asparagus took 5 mins because the waiter thought I was crazy to not want asparagus for my kids. In the end, they overcharged me also... Like I said earlier, the food was decent for this resort. The staff must simply get a pass at providing good service because they have limited seats and are often fully booked. But, if you come here, just get ready to feel pretty crummy even after eating a good meal.
I've been here twice now and have gotten the wagyu ribeye and normal ribeye. Both times the quality of the steak has been horrendous. It's nowhere near worth the price. You can get better steak at chain steak houses for less.
I’ve always enjoyed my time going to the Steak Pit until just recently when going for a special occasion, I had a terrible experience. We reserved a time online (which is what was recommended to us when we called ahead) arrived for our time and were told that we didn’t have a reservation because their online booking system was down and that if we didn’t receive a confirmation email (which the online reservation gives you the option to select whether you’d like a confirmation email or not), we would not have a reservation. The host was very short and not very helpful. We eventually were able to book a time later that evening. The food was great, but the service previously set the wrong tone for the evening.
Food is mediocre, but acceptable if you're hungry enough and there aren't many options available. The worst thing about this place is the service. Upon arrival we were greeted by an incredibly rude hostess. We were walking in front of her, but were not sitting down anywhere yet and she proceeds to exclaim, "I will seat you. Wait for me. I will seat you, okay? I will seat you." In between these statements I did tell her "Okay, we are waiting for you," but she kept repeating her statements. She then gestures at a table. We have a toddler and prefer a booth. My husband makes this request, and she resists. He insists that we would like a booth. She openly sighs and rolls her eyes as she says, "Fine," while placing our menus on the booth's table. At this point, I'm pretty fed up with her. I proceed to ask her, "What's the problem here? You seem to have a huge attitude." She replies that there is nothing wrong and she has seated us where we wanted. Then scrambles off. I do not know why the hostess has a power trip problem. It appears that the only area in her life that she can exert authority is by seating people where she deems fit and we must all abide by her or else she will have to act like a petulant child by scrunching up her face as if she sucked on a lemon too long. Could be because I am Asian, I noticed she was not acting this way with other customers who were all white. Our server was better, but she neglected to tell us the specials. Overall a poor experience and I would not recommend this place to anyone, especially those who are ethnically and culturally diverse - in other words, not white.
Awesome if you want 3 different servers and don’t mind spending 140 dollars on 2 steaks that are not seasoned and you have to eat while still mooing and chicken that tastes like fish. Was it worth 140 McDonald’s burgers? Nah. But on a real note our server did not attend to us for over an hour, didn’t bring us our drink menu and didn’t even bring us our food. The only time the server was interested in us was when we were writing our tip. The food was very bland and my 13 year old brother could’ve made something better. I would never come back it was simply ✨disgusting✨.
Very unimpressed with this restaurant. The service was fine but food was mediocre at best and really overpriced for the quality. I decided to try the rainbow trout since it was recommended by our waitress and it was dry and flavorless. It was described as almond crusted and I’m convinced that the only “seasoning” they used were crushed unsalted/unflavored almonds. It was so bland. My boyfriend was just as disappointed with his food. I also was not a fan of the interior of this restaurant. Super dim lighting and zero table decor at all. Overall it was just really disappointing.
If I could rate it lower I would. Possibly the worst experience at any restaurant I’ve had. First off one of our friends received a margarita drink that had bug in it. We were not rude and asked for another. Only to find out later that the first we were charged for. Second the steaks come out extremely under cooked per request. Waitress asked less than 1 bite into the meal if everything was fine and never returned for the rest of the meal. The arrogance of the staff is what really sets this place back. Not sure I’ve had worse service at a Apple Bees or Chili’s, I know I would prefer one of those over this place. Save your time and money and avoid.
