Escondite De La Torre Sonora Reviews
If you’re the kind of explorer who maps memories through meals, Escondite de la Torre deserves a pin on your route. This hidden gem blends bold flavors with a festive, down-to-earth vibe—perfect for those who love discovering new places through their plates. The enchiladas were a standout: crispy golden tortillas wrapped around savory fillings, then layered with shredded cabbage, crema, green salsa, crumbled cheese, and fresh tomato slices. A halved avocado and sprig of cilantro crowned the dish like a chef’s signature flourish—rich, crunchy, creamy, and bright in every bite. And then came the trio of strawberry margaritas. Served in oversized goblets with sugar-coated rims, each one was a frozen burst of berry bliss—sweet, tart, and icy enough to make you pause and savor. They weren’t just drinks; they were part of the experience, like edible postcards from a joyful detour. The quesadilla brought comfort and depth: toasted to a golden crisp, filled with seasoned meat (chorizo) and melted cheese. 🧀 very flavorful within a reasonable price.
Great little Mexican diner we found on Washington Street. Great food ,Great vibes and great staff.
Peculiar menu combinations, as others have noted, but we eat here often. It has many vegetarian options. The food is basic but house-made, and the couple who seem to run the place are hard-working and friendly. Where else can you get a cocktail or glass of wine for $4??? It's quirky, but we like it.
I've eaten here twice and have tried multiple menu items. Everything has been absolutely delicious. My favorite is the breakfast sandwich with hot links or the Escodite Burger (shredded chicken sandwich). Service is amazing as well.
Get the enchiladas and add chicken! The green guacamole sauce has a nice spicy flavor, be careful if you don’t want the heat 😗 It’s hard finding authentic Mexican food but this place is it! It’s a huge plus they’re open late at night. I got a kick out of the chocomil (chocolate milk) in a baggie, definitely took me back to 🇲🇽.
We had a delicious breakfast here, and I will be back. I had the Huevos Rancheros. It was delicious. Not packed full of refined beans and sauce, rather it was a perfect dish of eggs, sauce, and cheese. The best part is that you can see directly into the kitchen and see that it is spotless. Great addition to Sonora!

I’m so going to be a regular here and ditch my usual favorite restraraunt. Service was excellent from the moment we opened the door. Food was amazing and their homemade salsa exquisite. My sister and mom were impressed with how tender the asada was in their tacos. Chilaquise were perfect and even the house salad was above par. Ronnie served us and made us feel like family.❤️
Absolutely amazing experience at Escondite De La Torre! The food was delicious, full of flavor, and beautifully presented. What really made the visit stand out was the outstanding customer service, Lupe took great care of me from start to finish. He was friendly, attentive, and made sure everything was perfect. You can tell they truly care about their guests here. I’ll definitely be coming back and recommending this place to everyone.
Small restaurant with amazing food! The Mexican burrito 🌯 with chorizo is incredible—heavy and perfect for a yummy breakfast, potentially both lunch too. The egg & sausage sandwich was amazing. The chorizo is made in-house. The guy who served us was super nice and friendly. The green salsa tastes like a spicy guacamole—amazing! The coffee was sweet
Absolutely delicious food and amazing customer service! Everyone was so attentive and friendly. My son ordered pancakes, and they went above and beyond with the chocolate chips and powdered sugar. I highly recommend this place to anyone craving authentic Mexican food and drinks!
After a terrible experience at the restaurant next door we made our way to this hidden gem. Immediately we were greeted and welcomed. This waiter was happy to see us, he wanted our business and provided exceptional customer service throughout our meal.
Great little hole in the wall joint. Menu had all the right stuff that’s built around Hispanic roots, honestly don’t think one could go wrong with anything on it. Plenty of sauces to complement your meal and portion sizes are great. Customer service is on point. Pay attention to the hours of service and you will have an excellent experience.
This was the only place opened this early. And it was one of the best breakfast I ever had. Personal so attentive and food is so delicious. Will be stopping here all times.
Delicious, tasty salsas! Had eggs w/ steak. Can’t wait to return and try the rest of the menu. Friendly service, prompt.
I've eaten here multiple times and the food is always amazing. I've tried multiple burritos, the avocado toast, and the salchipapa and it has always been wonderful. The value is also great as well. The staff is limited, so I recommend ordering using your phone via the QR code at the table when it's busy to save them some trips, get your food faster, and pay conveniently.
This place is fire. 🔥 The food is flavorful, the service outstanding. Ronny described the food like a passionate lover, and I wasn't sad about any of his recommendations. We got a marg flight of 3 for 10 bucks, Tamarind was my Waifu, but the Mango was amazing too. I got the 2 tacos for 10, no regrets. Will be back anytime I'm within an hour of Senora.
When they opened they keep messing my orders up. I thought I would give them another try. Everything lately has been correct and really good. Excellent burrito and burgers.
10 stars across the board. Food is amazing. Nicest people you'll ever meet.
Food it's really authentic Mexican food. Friendly, great service, specially the margaritas are super. I had pineapple 🍍 and guava. . Especially that hours open, we couldn't find an open restaurant in Sonora, but this one.

Best Cali Burrito I’ve ever had! Everyone in our party was extremely happy with their food. Service was great too, very nice people. Would recommend this spot!

Had a special breakfast burrito. It said "diablo" steak but was not spicy at all. The rice used seemed to be plain white rice. It was ok, I'll be back to try something else, but not the best burrito I have ever had. Prices are good. Nice atmosphere.
So let's start with the burritos, first off ive never been to an authentic Mexican food and been served white rice. Oaky with that being said, I also asked for no cheese because of dairy concerns. What happened, I bite into my burrito when I get home and it's loaded with cheese which might sound good with the exception that I am allergic to dairy. Thanks Escondite de la torre, made my goodnight a horrible one. Not only do they not start making your food right away with phone orders but the staff chefs stand around talking too much. Plus the foods expensive as heck and it's not even hooked up, I won't be coming back thats for sure.
Received Terrible service here. I will preface this review to say I understand the struggles of the service industry and overcoming issues with being short staffed as I too have worked the service industry as well although taking that into consideration still does not warrant the subpar service I received here. Took 10 minutes to be acknowledged by the waiter. After finally being acknowledged the waiter took another 10 minutes to take our order down. There were only 2 other parties seated when we came into the restaurant and one party had already received their food. To be fair the waiter was polite and offered his suggestions when ordering but that is where the service came to a halt. It took 25 minutes to receive our food. One of our dishes were cold. We did not receive water and we were not asked once how our food was or if we needed anything. I had to call the waiter twice and ask for water twice and only got it 15 minutes later without urgency and the waiter was dismissive. After finishing our food we waited another 30 minutes to ask for our check and to go boxes. We received our to go boxes before the waiter quickly left without receiving our check. I had to wait another 20 minutes for our waiter to finally come near us to ask for the check again. Once again he did not ask how our food or experience was. Paid the bill and left and waiter still did not say anything or greet us out. Important to note he also got another customers order wrong and two customers walked out because they were not attended to.
