Yoshinoya Spring Valley Reviews
We were in a hurry on Easter Sunday so we hit the drive-thru. Service was courteous, polite, and prompt! The food is always tasty and pricing is reasonable. Will return to this location again when I'm in the neighborhood.
Great fast food option, fresh to order and clean restaurant
Look- if you want something quick and a healthier choice for fast food... Yoshinoya is the place. It's Japanese favorites on-the-go. You pick your size of food bowl, your rice/noodles, meat protein, then veggies. Drinks are separate from the combo of choice but the food is well worth it. It's hot , fresh and great quality eats. Granted, the drive-thru wait is long (I waited 16 minutes but it was worth it) but the way to think of it is, "Wow. Their food must be that good. Let's get some!". There's also dine-in but due to Covid it's closed right now. There's also desserts and drinks offered on their menu. Price is reasonable. Love to have a healthier alternative for fast food with a drive-thru in Spring Valley.
Pretty good portions served in the plate. Limited seating but nice place to relax.
The classic Yoshinoya experience in a newer restaurant that looks like it was recently opened. Employees are friendly. Food is very tasty as always.

I just stopped in real quick to. Pick up a snack, the Tokyo fried chicken. It was delicious and that spicy sauce was awesome. Not to mention, the customer service was spectacular.
This chicken teriyaki dish was a delightful taste, and the vegetables bowl was a pleasant addition. However, I would like to express my dissatisfaction with the portion size. The bowl was excessively filled with rice, resulting in a small portion of chicken and vegetables. I would appreciate it if the restaurant could be more fair in portion sizes in the future. Despite this minor issue, the overall service was excellent.
I often come to Yoshinoya and get orders of beef a la carte, beef only so I can meal prep. I didnt bother checking my order as it has never been incorrect but today I was given about 1/4 of what the order usually comes with. Is this the new size for beef only? I bought 5 orders at $6+ a piece. What a bummer.
First time here. Heard about it for a while and the line is always steady and long. Figured it must be good. Well, yes its good. The chicken teriyaki is the better of the 2 dishes for me. I love sweet chili items, but there is something missing with this plate. Maybe the white rice. We wanted the fried rice, but they didn't have that option tonight. If you download the app, you can get a free regular bowl and drink. That was cool. The team was accomdating and helpful. We will try again and see how the fried rice and orange chicken are.

Ok, I remember when they opened up they was serving quality food but now the fish looks and taste like its been sitting for ever, it's over cooked and it's much smaller. Also I noticed the serving amount is much smaller but charging the same!!! The Teriyaki chicken still taste and vegetables still taste good, the serving is much smaller. Not happy this time, no wonder I rarely see people go now. The hype is gone but also food quality changed.....
I ordered an extra large combo meal and was surprised that the sweet glaze you guys use was fairly sweet. That glaze overwhelmed the product. It tasted more like a dessert. I was not impressed. Do you offer a more savory salty glaze that fits the actual product?
First time eating the Japanese food here and i have to say it was "okay." If you have no other place to go to, go here but there are wayyyy better japanese fast food places. I got a Regular Habanero Chicken bowl with fried rice. I paid an extra 50 cents for the fried rice and it was HORRIBLE. It was extremely clumpy and gummy. I couldn't see a grain of rice, it was all just clumped up together (see picture). I had bad luck with the fried rice because my husband's white rice came out just fine. Mine sucked! Yuck. The chicken was okay, it had 50% fat which is what made it okay. Overall okay. Customer service, meh. Paid $15.17 after tax for two regular bowls. Won't be coming here again unless there are desperate measures.

The serving sizes don't look like the picture. I feel like there not putting in enough rice. 1). The Gyudon bowl taste good. 2) Tempura shrimp is not very good or worth the price. Tiny portion and more batter if anything. 3). I only been to the spring valley location. 4). You have to ask for condiments, otherwise if you are not in the know, you won't get anything. (radish, sauces, etc). 5)I would only buy if I use the deals on the app. Would not pay full price.
My family and I love Yoshinoya. It used to have really good customer service, but lately we felt like it kind of went down hill. Our orders are sometimes always messed up. but overall it is still a good place to eat and for decent price .

I was craving for Japanese food and I saw the place while I was shopping at Ross so I decided to give it a try. But this is probably my first and last. The selection is so little, they take so long to get and give the order and their customer service is not that good they really need to work on that if they wanna keep their business going. Simple greetings and courtesy would really help the place but seems like the people working here hate there job lol. Coz they can’t even give you that. Food was fine but seems like it has only been reheated. Can’t really recommend this place.
This was my first time trying Yoshinoya. The lady at the drive thru was rude. I waited 11 mins in the drive thru line after my order was taken. Same lady at the window had no manners. No please, no thank you, nothing and my order was wrong. Even though my order was wrong, I still ate it and it was pretty good. I probably wont be back though.
Been here twice and arrived 15 and 20 minutes before the posted 10pm close time. Both times the drive thru person said they were already closed. On my second visit, I asked what time they closed to confirm since clearly it isn’t 10 pm and after a long pause they said there is no more food and they ran out of food. So heads up, don’t come anywhere near closing time. I thought going to the drive thru 20 minutes before was reasonable but I guess not. I can’t get here much earlier on the days I would come, so I would be interested to know what time they stop actually taking orders. If they actually do stop serving when food runs out, then I didn’t see that posted like I have for other establishments.
Went through the drive-thru and the service was very poor. The order taker spoke too fast and couldn't quite understand me (maybe it was an electronic issue). The sauce they use for the rice bowls/plates is too sweet! This is suppose to be a savory item not a dessert. This last time I went through the drive-thru I tried to order the fried chicken. They didn't have any available and told me that it would take too long to cook. The udon noodles are TOO salty. Awful food and service.
I like Yoshinoya's food, but drivers have complained that they are treated very badly when asking for sauce. I would like to know if sauce is paid for, please include it on the menu. If not, don't offer it, as it is free. And please treat drivers better.
First time ordering online through the app and it’s my first time going to this location. They gave my order quickly through the drive through but when I got home I opened the container I realized they gave me a wrong order (I ordered a large gyudon beef, no veggies) and they even skimped out on the beef. Terrible first impression of both the app and the restaurant. Would not try again.
I had a deal from my Yoshinoya App for 2 large bowls for $16.00. I ordered a beef and teriyaki chicken with rice & veggies. I noticed there was a spoon full of beef on top of alot of rice. The chicken bowl looked decent. The service was good , but the beef bowl needs more beef to make the meal worth it. 😋

This is not the first time I’ve been to this drive-through multiple times I’ve had issues with communicating with them. I pre-order my mail and they sold it to someone else. Then when I went through the drive-through, they said I have no drinks even after I showed the lady the order I made and she’s said no you have no drinks, but I already paid for it. I am sorry, but that’s poor customer service.

I’m sorry, I have a stronger drive to share a negative experience, but the service at this location is trash! They kept me waiting forever. The staff started arguing in front of the customers. The food didn’t have it’s usual taste and the vegetables taste like they were steamed in dirty mop water.
Yoshinoya their food is very good. In this place I had a very bad experience with the food, they gave us burnt rice. Apparently there is no manager to supervise them. In addition, the employees have the bad habit of sitting at the counter where they put the food to deliver it in a very bad way. My visit was on Dec 28, 2022.
Yoshinoya’s food is so good! Unfortunately, this place is horrible all around. At 3pm on Saturday, June 10 the a gal did not let us in the restaurant to dine because they had two employees! They never have staff, the present staff is so rude, avoid all around. We drove hours and just wanted to sit inside a restaurant.
The service was absolutely fine but the food was a complete waste of money i took one bite into everything and threw it all away im still hungry as i write this ( my order: 3 gyouza, tokyo chicken, 2 shrimp tempura)
I just ordered a bowl from Yoshinoya and upgraded to the teriyaki ribeye, but I’m honestly disappointed. For the extra cost, I expected a decent portion of ribeye, but the bowl was mostly rice with barely any meat. The vegetables had okay flavor but were pretty bland overall. My side of shrimp tempura tasted like it had been sitting for 30 minutes to an hour, definitely not fresh. I also asked for light ice in my drink and got no ice at all. For what I paid, I expected much better. Unfortunately, this didn’t feel worth the price at all.
Food was not great Gyoza came out over cooked hard and with black stuff on it like it was cooked in pan that hadn’t been cleaned or something. Service was five stars staff was polite. Atmosphere was not great, they had a loud speaker in the back that I feel was throwing the workers off when it got busy. Two orders from the drive thru came back upset because they got the wrong stuff & then staff started to argue about what had happened. Felt like management was not there or missing training. Hopefully they get it together this is one of my favorite places to visit.
This last visit has done it for me. Never again. The last four visits the order was screwed up. I contacted them and it took them a while but they credited what was missing. In one of my emails to them I said if this is a franchise you may want to think about taking it away. If it's a Corporate store, shame on you. This time was the most ridiculous pick up ever. Ordered on line, email said order will be ready at 8:19 PM Pulled up to the drive thru at 8:20 PM after being "greeted" that's what we'll call it. I started to say I placed an order on...... that's as far as I got. "Drive to the window" waited for someone to come to the window for 8 minutes, asked me what I ordered, I told him I don't remember the entire order, will the order number help? No. I opened the email and handed him my phone so he could see the order. Then he said oh, you ordered on the app. Asked me to drive around and park in front. At 8:49 PM someone came out with my order. This entire time I was watching cars at the drive thru pull and order and leave. I said So, what you're saying is I shouldn't place the order using the app I should just come and order here. His reply was it's only me and the other guy, I saw people ordering and leaving. I waited for this order for 35 minutes. His reply "we're giving you fresh spring rolls" I ordered them, so you usually give me old ones? then he holds up this mini cheesecake and asks if I wanted it. I said no and left. There's a 23 second video but it won't let me upload it. It's classic. We're giving you fresh spring rolls and would you like this cheesecake is the best
I live in Imperial County and was visiting San Diego on July 12, 2025. Since we don’t have a Yoshinoya in our area, I was really excited to stop by the Spring Valley location before heading home. We moved to Imperial County two years ago, and every time I’m in San Diego, I make it a point to visit Yoshinoya. I arrived at the Spring Valley location around 9:30 PM, well before their posted closing time of 10:00 PM. I waited patiently, hoping to place an order. Unfortunately, no one came to assist me. At first, I thought they might have closed early—but then I saw two cars and noticed the staff sitting at a table inside, eating and laughing, while completely ignoring customers. It was really disappointing to experience this kind of service, especially after making a special stop. If the store hours say 10:00 PM, customers shouldn’t be ignored or turned away 30 minutes early. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and reminds staff of the importance of customer service—especially to loyal customers who go out of their way to support the brand.
Crying size of portion, I ordered three large beef bowls, beef only covers 1/3 of rice, missing one serving of shrimp, not recommended.
I came in for the first time and I asked for no veggies and they put veggies on it! I told them it was wrong so the cook just took off the veggies and gave it back. I can still taste the veggies and I found a huge chunk. I won't be back ever... plus the chicken is rubbery
Dont waste your time!! Seriously! I read all the reviews and thought, no, I will try it for myself. I spent $27.43 on two large combo bowls with the grilled steak and clam chowder on one and cheese cake for the other. I live 4 minutes from the restaurant. The food was cold, the meat was chewy, the clam chowder was cold. It looked like the food had been prepared and then reheated. I have attached a photo for you to see. I found a hard piece of bone or cartilage in the meat. If that had been the only problem, no big deal, but it wasnt. The employee at the window had her back to me as we pulled up and continued to not acknowledge us or even look behind them to see if a car had pulled up. The employee kept doing whatever they were doing, maybe taking another order, who knows. After 7 minutes they finally turned around, opened the window and started the total amount due. No apology, no accountability for total lack of customer service skills much less human communication. The entire experience was a problem and I will absolutely not return to any Yoshinoya. This was my first and only time.
I always see a huge line for this place and decided to stop by when the line was short. This was my first and last time I will ever eat here. I drove up not knowing what to expect. As soon as I pulled up to order, I was met with pure rudeness. I ordered two bowls, a cup of clam chowder and spring rolls. After I got home, I opened the bag and the spring rolls were missing. The food is mediocre and I would never spend this amount of money for a bad experience. The management really should focus on customer service as it is lacking at this place. I actually left in a bad mood and I never allow people to ruin my mood in such a way. Hopefully they will get it together as this area needs something different like this as it's mostly burger places.
Everything about this place is disgusting! I hope I don’t get food poisoning! The rice the veggies the orange chicken the beef all OVERCOOKED! I posted photos of my actual food and what I thought I was getting.

I've always lived this place and haven't had it in some years so as I was driving by I couldn't miss this opportunity. Let me just say the customer service is very horrible. The lady who took my order around 1:05pm at the spring valley location customer service skills were among the worst I've cone across in the fast food industry. Seemed very rushed and the worst part of it all a lady who was handling food came to take my order, touched cash and was pressing on the touch screen then went right back to handling food. I'll be reporting this place to the health department because that's just nasty.
The food is OK. Customer service is extremely poor. They don’t ask you. If they want the food for here to go in. The girl barely speaks English. She has zero customer service skills.
Be sure to always check your food the worker Cynthia A barely speaks English and always gets my order wrong this is the 3rd time and when I go back with my receipt and everything they tell me that I’m not allowed to switch out food it’s not their policy and I tell them that’s not what I ordered you did it wrong? They said no that that’s not true. They basically fight against it I can’t eat anything spicy and they gave me habanero chicken smh waste of money Cynthia A needs to be fired already
We really wanted to like this place since it’s close to our home, we even gave it multiple attempts but each time we left dissatisfied. They’ve gotten our order wrong almost every time, the food is mediocre at best and they’re constantly out of menu items when we go. The staff seem miserable and generally confused and when we came back once to return/exchange our order, because they gave us the completely wrong one, they attempted to argue with us until we showed them the receipt proving it was not even close. I don’t know if every Yoshinoya is bad, but I would definitely recommend avoiding this specific location.
The service here is consistently horrible. Everytime I eat here my order is wrong, something is missing, or I'm spoken to like I'm annoying the staff. Its sad because I like the food. Nothing like inn and out or chik-fil-a where you're treated kindly.
