great and kind employees, annoying frosh
I visited Stern Dining for a business meal and was impressed by the professionalism. Service was attentive, timing between courses was perfect, and the menu offered a great balance of creativity and familiarity.
Huge fan of the variety and the food freshness at this Stanford dining hall! I was pleasantly surprised to visit for the first time and get chicken noodle soup, watermelon, salmon, and grilled tofu. My friend got a Chipotle-style burrito bowl where she chose her ingredients. Just make sure you make eye contact with the dining hall staff if you pay on one side and eat on the other - one of the staff members accused us of not paying! We tried to show her the card we'd used for the meal plan plus guest, but she was hella rude.
Serves Mexican themed dorm food. Nothing spectacular but pretty good compared to other options.
Pretty good dining hall. Burrito Bar is always there to fall back on.

Stern is one among of the worst dining halls on Stanford’s campus. The food is bland, typically not as hot as it should be, and old. On the breakfasts I’ve been to, there is never a solo protein option apart from eggs, the hash browns are overcooked, and the breakfast sandwiches are falling apart. There are selections of juice, bagels and a waffle iron, but none are well-cleaned or maintained. This is disgraceful for such a high-standing institution, and I’ve on occasion opted to rather go to another location on campus like COHO or Tressider memorial for meals due to the quality overall.
